The Stats and What They Do


Stats are how this guild judges a character's fighting prowess. The stats fall into three separate categories and then again split into another set of subcategories. Each category has it's own use, and each character will have a number associated with the category. When the numbers associated with the main categories are all added together you get the power level of a character. Below is an explanation of what the categories mean, and what the subcategories mean.


Physical
The Physical Category has to do with one's physical prowess. It is the general number that one associated with their total physical capabilities. This determines the combined potential of how Strong, Fast, and Defensive a character is. As such sub-category of stats for Physical are Strength, Speed, and Defense.

Strength
Strength determines how strong a person is in comparison to another person. This dictates how much power is or can be placed behind someone fighting on a completely physical level. Typically when one is using Strength to fight it is contested by Defense, however there are situations in which it is not.

Speed
Speed determines how fast a person is or can be in comparison to another person. However the number that is here would be a character's maximum speed. More information on how this works will show up later on in this thread.

Defense
Defense determines how physical tankier you are in comparison to another person. This stat reduces the amount of damage you would take from physical attacks. Typically this is used to contest someone or something using their Strength to fight, however some situations may show this to be different.


Magical

The Magical Category determines what a character's generalized magical potential is. This determines the combined potential of a person's magic power, quick casting, and resistance to magical energy. As such the subcategory stats for this category are Potency, Cast, and Resistance.

Potency
Potency determines how potent one's magical power is, or rather how strong it is. This stat is a huge determining factor in the power that one can place behind the powers and abilities they use. Typically when one uses this stat as a determining factor in the damage it will be contested by Resistance.

Cast
Cast determines how quickly a person is able to create a magical effects, and how fast magical objects and attacks move in comparison to a different caster's effects.

Resistance
Resistance determines how magically tankier you are in comparison to another person. This is the stat that reduces the amount of damage you will take from magical attacks. Typically this is used to contest someone or something using their Potency to fight, however some situations may show this to be different.

Spiritual

The Spiritual Category is a generalized category of a person's capability to last in a fight. This includes taking physical and magical damage as well as using physical and magical abilities. The sub categorical stats are Stamina and Willpower and both of them work together typically.

Stamina
Stamina is a huge factor in determining how much of a beating you can take, as well as how much you can use in terms of physical based techniques. This is a huge factor in determining your character's health when you are entering a fight.

Willpower
Willpower determines how much you can use in terms of magical based techniques. While still a factor, it is only a minor factor in how much of a beating one can take, as such determines a small amount of your character's help.

Health and Damage


The guild's stat system works alongside a health and damage system as well. Health of a person will vary from battle to battle taking minor factors into consideration at the start of the battle.


Health
Current Stamina*2 + Current Willpower/2 = Health
Health is determined battle to battle by the formula above. When you and an opponent have determined you are fighting, you have been attacked from the shadows, or any other way that signifies you will soon or may soon take damage you will determine your health. When health reaches 0 you will immediately pass out, and you will be deemed to loser of the fight, unless you have an ability that allow you to immediately regain health upon reaching 0.


Damage Conversions
The Damage of a Physical Attack can not exceed one's Strength Stat.
The Damage of a Magical Attack can not exceed one's Potency Stat.

Damage is dictated by Stamina/Willpower cost of a technique, as well as the Strength or Potency Stat of the user.
1 Stamina = 5 Physical Damage
1 Willpower = 5 Magical Damage

For every 25 Strength the user has, their physical attacks deal an extra +1 Physical Damage. (This is applied before Clan Enhancements)
For every 25 Potency the user has, their magical attacks deal an extra +1 Magic Damage. (This is applied before Clan Enhancements)

Additional Damage will be dictated by the nature and power of the technique/spell if it is seen fit.


Damage Reductions
Unless otherwise stated Defense is the contested stat for a Physical Attack.
Unless otherwise stated Resistance is the contested stat for a Magical Attack.

For every 2 Points of Defense, reduce physical damage taken by 1.
For every 2 Points of Resistance, reduce magical damage taken by 1.


Basic Attacks
A Basic Attack is considered anything from swinging a sword, to punching someone in the face, even biting someone. Basic attacks will always use 1 Stamina, meaning they always deal 5 damage + other modifiers.

Other Modifiers include: Magically Created Weapons, Enhanced Damage from Clan effects, Enhanced damage from magical effects, additional damage from strength.
