THE RUNAWAYS

Today is the day. When they were infants, these kids were "adopted" from orphanages all over the world and sent to a lab. In this lab, their DNA was spliced with animal DNA, causing them to mutate, to adopt physical characteristics of the creatures chosen for them. Not everyone made it. Those who survived have spent every day of their lives being poked and prodded, experimented on, pushed to their limits. They have slept in cells with hard beds and bars on all sides. But today is the day when they will escape.

One of the kids managed to snatch a key from a hungover guard that opens a side gate in the yard. The experiments are being sent out for their daily half-hour of recreational time. They'll create a distraction, then make a run for it.

Today is the day.
