New movie stills and information released by Entertainment Weekly! I especially like the bit about the Stormtrooper doll. If I remember correctly, Mads said that there would be scenes showing his relationship with his daughter, Jyn. I bet the doll has something to do with that.

These photos are getting me excited. Everything looks great!
Last weekend I went to the Star Wars Celebration in London and took some photos of the costumes (and the character descriptions). If you want, I'll get them off my phone and post them here.

Uh, is a month later too late to say "Yes, please!"?
I loved it. It had its flaws but in general it turned out way better than I even expected. 3nodding
The last 30 minutes or so really got me.

I thought it was a lot better than the Force Awakens. But, then, the moment Tarkin turned around I was sold. His CGI might not have bee 100% but it was enough that I was all in.

I thought the CGI was a bit weird. Probably one of the very few things I didn't like about the movie. I think most of the other CGI bits (like the space battles) will look great in another decade, but Tarkin and Leia will look terrible as time passes.

Loved the movie. I managed to avoid spoilers, so I was slightly surprised
it was heroic deaths all around, instead of letting one or two survive. (I guess this means Jyn Erso is probably not Rey's mum. lol)
I liked that they included nods to Rebels instead of pretending the show doesn't exist. Some of the nods to other stuff didn't work so well for me--those two jerks must have been headed directly to the spaceport in order to get away from Jedha and over to Tatooine in time to meet Luke and Kenobi in Mos Eisley, not to mention Leia's dad probably barely got his cloak hung up before Alderaan exploded--but just seeing the Ghost and Chopper were neat.
And how awesome was Vader? I was nervous about him being in the movie, because when you overuse a great villain, and he keeps failing to stop the heroes, he can start seeming...not so great. That didn't happen here, though! It was fantastic to see him as a walking engine of destruction!

I think Leia will age better than Tarkin, because so much less was required of her face. I can see why they felt they needed to include him, but I kind of wish they'd just written around Tarkin's absence.
(And I really, really hope they figure out how to tastefully write around Leia's absence in Episode IX, instead of trying to CGI in an impersonator. crying)
First half hour of the movie dragged a bit, but when it got going, it really got going. I liked that it tied everything together, with characters from the prequels, Clone Wars, and Rebels, as well as the strong tie to the original trilogy. I liked that it had a little different feel than the Skywalker saga--more gritty, less fairy-tale. And K-2SO is my favorite droid ever, ending HK-47's long reign with the title.
Can we talk about how weirdly fragile Star Destroyers are, though? The Millennium Falcon can bounce off the surface of a planet like a hockey puck and take no damage at all. But a Star Destroyer gets hit at relatively low speed, and instead of just getting nudged off course, it folds like a house of cards?

sad There's still time for them to do a little re-editing or even re-shooting of Episode VIII. It sounds awful, but I kind of want them to kill the character. I can't imagine any other kind of excuse they could come up with for her not to be present in some way for matters involving Kylo Ren. sad

Finally got to see it. Awesome! Even my friend liked it, and she's never made it through any of the original movies or the prequels.
I would totally be on board for an entire movie that's just Darth Vader plowing through a ship full of terrified rebels like Jason Voorhees goes through party campers.
I do have to question why Stormtroopers even wear armor. They can get beaten up with sticks, which even weak armor should protect you from. And unarmored people can survive getting shot with blasters, but it doesn't seem like Stormtroopers ever do. Maybe...maybe the armor is actually designed by the Emperor personally, and its real function is to execute you if you get beaten or shot?
