Amphitrite really didn't know the universe very well - she knew people, faces, and names, but that was about all. They'd kept her deliberately in the dark when and where they could, and so her knowledge of the universe was relatively narrow and stark beyond some pillow talk stories of wonder and glory.
But there was one place she knew she wanted to see. Just --
"Is it... " She hung close, pressing near the knight even after she'd set her down. The senshi looked up at her, biting her lower lip tentatively as she asked, "Is it... too risky to... to see the Surrounding... so soon?"
It housed Amelia's home. Her wonder. "Even just for a minute?" That would be enough. She just wanted to be able to see it with her own eyes. "Please? If it's unsafe, I - I understand, of course, I - "

Amelia didn't even have to tell the crewmen to get ready to set sail, they could sense her desires as she conversed with her companion, flitting around in the background to get things ready. Crims would understand, he had to understand - she would make him understand if she had to.
"What's life without risk?" She asked wryly, collecting both of the senshi's hands in hers. "I'll take you to the Surrounding." Purple met the navigator's green eyes and he nodded at her, understanding without a spoken word. "I'll show you Midgard and all my favorite places," she promised, "it's plenty big enough that there will be places we can hide if we have to. Celsus - it's a labyrinth that could easily conceal us. Aurelius he'll - he'll help me - us."
There wasn't a doubt in her mind that her friend would aid her, even if he didn't agree with her choices. "It's beautiful Amphi."
Like you, she thought but didn't voice.
The ship shifted beneath them, rising from the dock. "It would be my honor to show it to you."

Subtly, Amphitrite took note of everyone hustling around making preparations, interested but actively discouraged from poking her nose where it didn't belong. It only showed at all because she was already riding the rush of doing something she certainly should not be doing. (She should feel more guilty. She should not be so happy about this. - she kept reminding herself, but it did not remotely ease the giddy lightness that was seeping in through her belly and making her fingers tingle.)
There was no reason, though, to hide her genuine delight at the prospect of finally seeing Amelia's home. She badly wanted to hug the knight, fling her arms around her and thank her until she was breathless, but she restrained herself as though it were second nature. "Thank you, " she breathed out instead, squeezing the hands in her own, and although the senshi couldn't bring herself to react the way she might have wanted to, her eyes were still bright with gratitude - and even excitement.
"I can't wait." Although her smile tapered, just a fraction, as she asked delicately, "Aurelius. What is he like, Amelia? Will he... like me?" There was a peculiar sense of wariness alongside typical nerves. Of course she wanted to be liked. It was her role to endear to others in that way, make herself appealing and likable. That was more typical. However, Midgard, Amelia, was one thing. She had treated her unlike anyone else she'd ever met in her life. Other knights (even senshi), though, men in particular (given the rules of her society) -- could anyone blame her for fidgeting the way that she was then, trying to seem as though she wasn't?

Amelia couldn't help but watch Amphitrite as excitement bubbled through her and showed in subtle, quiet ways. It would be a long process, she knew, to get the senshi to just exist outside what she'd been taught, but she looked forward to seeing the pieces of her companion's true self poke through.
You don't need to thank me, was the knight's immediate thought, this is just me being selfish and wanting to steal you away.
Instead she said, "of course. You deserve to live a life of your choosing," because it was easier than admitting the truth. "Aurelius he - he's wonderful. Quiet possibly my best friend," she told her, smile turning a little strained. "He's bound to adore you, just like I do." It was easier to slip in compliments, show signs of how much she cared when she phrased it like that. "But you don't have to impress anyone Amphi," Amelia murmured, reaching up to tuck stray blue hair behind one of her ears. "Be whomever you want and the important people will love you."

Amphitrite smiled, although she couldn't help but wonder what it was she truly deserved or didn't. Amelia would know better than she, of course. But what did it truly say of her as a woman, as a senshi, that she was as willing and eager to betray her planet and forsake its people as she was? A disgrace, they would call her, she was sure of it. An outrage. A failed guardian. Although was it truly such a fitting title when she protected so little to begin with? - or was it thinking in such a way that made her so ill-fitting to take up the mantle to begin with? All the training and effort they'd put into her, and for what?
Too much thinking for one who wasn't charged with thought to begin with.
She smiled then at Amelia's reassurances, "Then I will do my best to treat him well, " although she wanted to say, even as she stared adoringly at her friend, that she simply wasn't sure yet who she wanted to be. How could she know yet who the important people were if she hardly knew who she even was beyond Amphitrite, the would-be senshi of her planet, the hostess, the trophy, the comfort of her homeworld? "I just hoped... I am as good a person as you believe, Amelia, " and that was the most she could safely say with her polished smile.

If the other woman had asked Amelia what the knight thought she deserved well, the list would be endless. It would also most certainly include, happiness and the universe Amphi, I think you deserve everything. As it were though, the pale green haired woman was grateful that her companion didn't ask.
"You're not - you don't have to like him or treat him in any sort of manner just because he's my friend." Her fingers drifted down a cheek lightly. "I know what they - " she stopped, swallowed hard because she hated the way the senshi had been treated as a trophy. "You can form your own opinions about the people we meet, you don't need to follow my lead."
Amelia was reaching for the woman's hands again, because there was a part of her that needed the physical contact. "I'm not going anywhere no matter what, okay? It's you and me against the universe if that's what it comes down to."

Amphitrite's eyes drifted shut at the lingering caress along her cheek, however light it was. Form her own opinions. Like and dislike who she pleased. "I am sure I will like him for the same reasons you do, " and for all her experiences with men in the past (were there any men she had ever known to have called 'friend'?), she felt sure of herself saying this... although had to wonder if this, too, was an extension of her training. She didn't quite know yet, where she began as a woman - as a person - and where she ended as the polished senshi prize of her planet. If anything, she felt somewhat confident in her own self-awareness of herself and her limitations, although she wasn't yet sure either if this was part of her personality or a warped facet of Amphitrite. It was a bit like what they said of the chicken and the egg, yes?
Although now, presented with the potential to express all of this when she'd thought her own would be forever limited to her own mind, limited to living behind, ironically enough, a shell of sorts - it was a little overwhelming, although not in a bad way. And at least, she rationed, squeezing Amelia's hands and needing them maybe more than the knight knew, she was not alone in this. She could not have come this far alone, wouldn't have dared, and this Amphitrite knew.
"I may be selfish, " she admitted quietly, flashing her a somewhat delicate, if true smile. "But I am so happy to hear you say that. - I need you, you know, " and the confession was quiet, hardly even a whisper, as if she weren't sure she should even be saying as much.

"I hope so, but if you don't that's okay too." Amelia felt as though it was very, very important that she emphasize that Amphitrite was capable of making her own judgments and that the knight wasn't going to be upset if they didn't agree. At least not when it came to other people.
If the senshi became her axis, well, the green-haired woman couldn't find a reason to complain.
It was a bit terrifying, the idea of potentially abandoning her wonder, her princess, her home but - Amphitrite was precious to Amelia and the young woman knew in that moment there wasn't a thing she wouldn't do for her. Besides, she was certain that Chronos would understand. Or, she at least hoped that her princess would understand and - and Amelia would come back, she could still work on things. Perhaps this was her great chance to travel the universe, see what it had to offer and see what she could bring back from other worlds.
It was a learning experience, to better her researching capabilities.
And if she got to keep Amphi by her side, Amelia knew she wouldn't regret it.
"As long as you need me, I will be here." And even when you no longer need me, because I don't know if I could ever let you go, Amelia thought privately.
"Come on, let's get you settled and I'll let the crew know to head to the Surrounding."

It was an impulsive move, at least for her, sliding her hand out and winding her fingers loosely with Amelia's, glancing at her coyly from the corner of her eye with that same soft smile on her face. "Thank you, " she half-whispered with the lightest of squeezes.
Then, she couldn't help but laugh softly. "It's so silly, but - there's something about 'settling' when we're about to do something so... " The biggest adventure of her life. The first adventure of her life. The first real chance of her life, with the first choices that were her own, weren't they? "It's silly to laugh, right? I'm being silly."
