Leone is a soft-heartened and gentle young man with a noble heart. He believes in sticking up for the defenseless and misjudged. He is exceptionally courteous to women and children, and he treats his elders with respect. His journey for friendship has no end, as he is constantly willing to make new friends of any sort. He is truly loyal to the Famiglia, but if things go out of hand, he wouldn't hesitate to destroy it with his own hands. This is to be expected from a young Vongola, after all. Knowing he is to be the next boss, Leone does not work well under such pressure. Hesecretly prefers having a normal childhood, but with everyone having expectations of him, he has accepted his fate.
Aside from that, when you look at Leone, he is actually just a normal young boy. He is often seen scaring himself for no real particular reason, and he likes to play everything safe. He is often called a stick in the mud, but he is perfectly fine being called that so long as nobody gets hurt. He may be a natural leader, but he is often seen lacking the devotion to order others about. He instead solves matters by means of thorough discussion. Not all conflicts are dealt with verbally, though, and when physical fights break loose with him or his friends as targets, he is quick to defend them.

Leone was born and raised in Italy by his father Nathan Sawada Vongola and mother Nina Mezzio. There, unlike his grandfather, he grew up knowing of the Mafia World. His father, Vongola Undicesimo, had not raised him to be a gruff boss, though. Like most Vongola bosses, Leone was raised gently like a normal child. He was a fragile kid, constantly hurting himself doing simple things, but it made him all the more compatible for his future. Everyone in the Famiglia knew he would grow up to be a great boss, but not everyone was pleased with the idea of another Sawada being the boss.
Xanxus' granddaughter despised Leone from the moment they met, much to Leone's worry. He couldn't quite grasp why she hates him so. Their once teasing rivalry went on to be more violent the older they were. Leone never fully tried to defeat her. If anything, he constantly allowed her to win, often paying for it with a black eye or broken arm. Now, the time has come for him to become the next Vongola boss, and he's making preparations with his friends. However, the Arcobalenos seem to have a detour route instead that involves the Varia.
