Okay, now something was beginning to annoy Tiffany. Tiffany, hesitant to tell the truth, wisely, decided that what's unspoken may be best to remain unspoken. Tiffany's eyes hardened. Her violet eyes, had fires in them. Determination, was being shown. Now, she was testing her own patience. She waited until the servant left again.

"Now look here--! I've been beaten, in verbal arguments, and such other things-! And yet, I'm standing in front of a...a stranger! And now you're asking me if I've been hurt? Boy, we've all been hurt in one way or another, but that's only because...half of us humans are...blind sometimes. Trust me, I know." She replied calmly. Tiffany took a breath to hopefully, contain her madness. What was she saying in the first place? Would it matter to him even.

Tiffany stared into his eyes, enjoying a bit of silence. Her gaze, wouldn't travel away. Her violet eyes were more hardened, and at this point, could be considered as metal gates---or doors! Either way, Tiffany, had regained her confidence in which, she thought abandoned her. And yet, Tiffany, was still frightened. She then stopped and grinned.
"I've been chewed up and spit out, but here I am. So now, you know, that it's not rumors, it's just a realization, of the world can be a cruel place-but even if so, we need to stand up, and fight the fate of...the cruelness."

This time her gaze did not waver about and instead she stared him down, challenging him for the Alpha position of the room. Coupled with her words Adam felt not offended but even more curious. Spitfire, this one. It seemed he had touched a nerve and she dared speak to him in that way. His fingers found the flame again and extinguished it. He felt the heat and the burn, but it distracted him from his knee-jerk reaction of what would have been Tiffany's behind out on the pavement.

When she was done she was left with a hard grin on her face which distorted her otherwise acceptable features. He wondered idly if he looked that mad when he was in a similar mood.

"Such insight," he said after some long moments. "But alas here you are, the cruelest place anywhere. I guess there are lessons that still need learning."

Adam turned his back on her and moved to his chair once more, crossing one leg over the other before he took a polite sip from his wine glass.

Despite getting verbally slapped across the face he had to admit this was the most engaging conversation he'd had since he could remember. She was actually a little upset with him, which was wonderful. No one ever got mad at him genuinely; he was a Beteonne, he could do as he pleased even if it meant offending others. Yet she had talked back to him and showed him her spine, which fascinated him even more.

And not once had the subject been on him, it was all on her and she had allowed it all. How interesting.

"You speak of fighting. How exactly do you plan to fight this, ah, 'cruelness'?" Play along the same vein, see what more could come from her. Perhaps it was a bit cruel he was finding this as exciting as a child might find a game, but he knew nothing else. He had been surrounded by and fed lies and deception his whole life. Sincerity was a novelty.

OCC: Spoiler tells you what she's saying...yep! I dared Tiffany to use German! I'm sorry, this took a massive turn of events...!

------------------------------------------------------------

"O...oh." Tiffany exclaimed. She got angry again, and dared spoke in German.
"Allerdings habe ich mit ihr umgehen, ist mir ein Rätsel! Aber sollte es dich in irgendeiner Weise mein Herr? Ich denke nicht!" She replied her eyes blazing once again. She took a deep breath, and ran a finger through her thick brown hair. Her expression turned back to steel, and she put on a poker face. Her expression remained solid.

"Und nur um klare, gut sein, wenn es sein muss, werde ich diese Welt reisen, um mir und meinem Vater zu schützen! Und niemand wird zu stoppen, dass." She then replied almost bursting with energy. This guy...had some bravery saying that to a lady like her. And even so, it was a sad fact, that once you pull Tiffany in her mental corner, you'd see her defenses.

"Ernsthaft aber ... was würden Sie Adam zu tun?"
1st German speaking pulled up; However I deal with it, is beyond me! But should it matter to you in any way good sir? I think not!
2nd German speaking pulled up; And just to be clear, well, if I have to, I will travel this world to protect me and my father! And no one, shall stop that.
3rd German Speaking: Seriously however...what would you do Adam?

One eyebrow raised when she switched tongues and began speaking to him in German. He understood... somewhat. His German was not what it should be as not much of the family's business dealt with countries that spoke it natively and did not speak English as an equal second language.

What he understood from her words was that she was protective of her father and wished to see him and herself well. What a notion. Adam hated his sister and hadn't cried a single tear for either of his parents. The family had never been a close one, much less a happy one and yet it seemed she had at least the closeness with her father, to not only ask her payment for this bizarre evening be clothing for him but to stand up and say she'd travel the globe just to see him sound.

What was this girl that she held such passions inside her? That fear could melt to rage and she would stand before the most influential and wealthy man in the country and speak to him this way?

Adam licked his lips, sapphire eyes alight with life. "Forgive my not responding in the same tongue, my accent is, at best, deplorable. You ask what I would do. I'm afraid I don't have a satisfying answer for that seeing as I'm as close to my family as I am to you. I hold no bonds, I never have. I can neither sympathize with you or understand you."

He took up his wine glass again, this time taking a much longer draw from it before it was placed back on the table.

"If offense was given it was not meant. I am, at the moment, merely curious. I'm afraid I'm a terrible conversationalist, this is the longest I've ever gone with a young lady and not have the conversation steer towards my ravishing good looks or my heart-stopping wealth." It was a confession of his own, perhaps to placate hers. Adam couldn't put his finger on why but he simply wanted this to continue for as long as he could manage it. Not the argument of course, but this turn of events.

For once in his life he felt interested, to some degree, in someone else. What made Tiffany tick? He wanted to know. What else made her upset, did she know other languages, just what inspired such passions in her? Adam knew after tonight he'd never see her again but for now he could feel involved in something other than his own reflection.

((OOC: Hahaha, I love it. Getting owned in another language and LIKING IT.))

Tiffany smacked a hand over her mouth. She closed her eyes. Tiffany felt very bad for him all the sudden. A tear dripped down her face quickly. She put both of her hands together close to her face and said a silent prayer. She then opened her eyes and looked back at him. More tears fell from her eyes.

"I'm sorry...!" She cried out. Her hands quickly covered her eyes. "I'm sorry..." She repeated. She stared up at Adam through her fingers. What was she thinking?! She didn't give a care what he looked like! She was more concerned that he was in pain. She could tell. But...maybe it was an unseeable pain? One that he couldn't recognize.

"I...don't honestly don't know why anyone would do this to you...!" She began. "But you deserve better than this. You and everyone else...deserves to be treated as a human! And you aren't, and that ticks me the flip off!" She bursted.

OCC; Ooh...snap! This made me laugh hard. Really hard! I think I would've smacked Tiffany...but him? Oh man! Comedy gold! You certainly have a great sense of humor! XD

And like that she had switched emotions, going from rage and defiance to sympathy and pity. The raised brow furrowed down with the other in confusion, watching her shed tears for his sake when really he had no idea just why. What had he said to cause such a thing? His brain racked for the exact sentence, the word, the phrase, bloody anything but nope there was nothing. All he'd been was honest. Had she not been?

Less than amused he decided to drain the glass at last, feeling a slight buzz from the burning alcohol slipping down his throat. The glass was set down at such force the stem broke, but he gave no indication even though a shard had cut his palm.

"I am treated as I deserve to be," was his cool reply, tone even but hinting at slight anger or at the very least offense. "As for you that is not for me to judge as I don't know you. How the world has greeted you is not something I am aware of, though if your previous words are any indication it has not been with good graces."

He picked the shard from his hand, flicking the piece sideways away from the table and merely balled the hand in a fist.

"What I told you was not to incite your pity. Whether you look down at me or not is of little concern, but do not grieve for something I obviously don't do for myself."

Tiffany jumped at Adam's behavior. She couldn't tell if he was drunk, or just plain frustrated. Tiffany met Adam in the eyes, her eyes burning. The tears wouldn't fall anymore then they had. Tiffany shivered at his words. He was angering her more than ever. Tiffany stood up so quickly, that her chair fell over.
"Have you ever considered that you really should worry?!" She snapped. Her eyes blared like a wild fire. Her face began to turn a pure red from such anger. She took a deep breath. She went over, picked up her chair, and set it back up. Her eyes darted to him. It was as if she was looking for something. Something hard to find. She took a deep breath, and decided to look down and have a sip of the wine.

Tiffany ignored the burning in her throat, and ignored the fact that she was beginning to get dysfunctional. Tiffany stared up at him. 'Whoa. Two Adam's?' She thought. Tiffany, ignored the fact that the wine was causing this, and took another sip. Her violet eyes grew murky, and she seemed more confident. Too confident perhaps. But deep inside of Tiffany's mind was now locked up. She stared at Adam, and began to laugh.
"How 'bout you patch yourself up?"

It was as though for the first time he registered the pain of the cut and looked to his bleeding hand with a frown, using his napkin dabbed in water to wipe away the excess to see the true damage. It was of no consequence, nothing that would require stitches, but the open air against the fresh wound stung still. A snap of the finger and a servant appeared with the bandages as if merely waiting for the word and worked at cleaning the cut and covering it to prevent infection.

That done he again drew his attention to Tiffany who he noticed was actively consuming her own wine and looking a little light for it. Heaven help him if he was going to have to call the girl a cab to get home. Though at least she was laughing, that was a change of pace. Adam wondered what fresh emotion she'd decide to share next. She seemed so full of them all she was bursting at the seams.

"Put something in your stomach to soak that wine up," he said, the first time he showed any concern for her. "What use is tonight if we both forget by tomorrow, hm?"

Tiffany looked up at Adam, keeping her head straight to be able to actually see him not shaky. Tiffany shook her head twice and smiled at him a little.
"True I suppose. But then again, what happens tomorrow if we remember tonight?" Tiffany replied casually. She remembered that Abigaile had a camera. Was there any chance of her breaking in? Tiffany hoped not. Tiffany looked up and decided to try to eat something. She reminded herself quickly, that she hadn't eaten anything quite yet, that would be considered actual food. She chewed some of the green vegetables, and in her expression, surprise showed. This, to her, was a blessing due to being poor, she hasn't eaten much of anything like this. But then again, only Tiffany could make money, and not her father due to losing a arm, and the fact that he couldn't walk anymore. And now, she was taking care of her father, and has been for awhile. Tiffany never felt more grateful for food in her life. Tiffany could never cook really, and which was a real problem. Tiffany took another bite, and turned to the servant with a smile.

"Thank you. It's really good!" She told the servant. Tiffany had a feeling that it was bad to thank them, but they did well. They deserved to be praised, even if they didn't get enough of it. Tiffany felt as if this was a slight trap. These people made her worry. They never should have been treated badly. Plus secretly, she believed half or most of them were good people.

Just about to leave the room, the servant stopped and stiffened at Tiffany's compliment, looking hesitantly to Adam. He nodded his approval and the servant relaxed, offering a careful smile to her in return and thanking her in turn for the compliment and assuring her the kitchen staff would receive it.

Alone once more Adam began picking at his own food, letting silence settle between them over the still quiet thrum of music filtering in the room. He had seen Tiffany eye the double doors a few times, concern in her unusual eyes.

"If you're worried about my sister, don't be. The room is sealed off sans the servants entrance and even she doesn't know all of them. I'll make sure when you wish to leave that you won't encounter her on the way out, either." He took a bite of the meat, chewing slowly as if contemplating something. "I realize tonight was meant to be some game to her and for that I offer an apology. We're both victims in this regard. I may be head of the household but she still thinks she knows best."

Adam sat back after a few more bites, deciding to sip at his water instead.

"So I suppose pleasantries would require me to ask menial questions about you in order to progress polite conversation. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that, again I'm not used to standard conversation. I noticed your attire before my sister got hold of you and put you in that dress. What was that?"
