A brief journey into Tale had ended in V'demhe finding some trouble with a pair of Kinfa. Why? Well it seemed as though she had disturbed a mother and her chick. Knowing that these creatures could be very protective and territorial she grabbed her dual blades and bent her knees so that she could lower herself closer to the ground. While normally she liked having a height advantage it didn't do much good against something that could fly. Keeping her eyes on the mother she slowly started to circle. There was no way she was leaving here without getting into some type of altercation so she might as well be ready and even go on the offensive.
Without waiting for the invite she leaped at the larger bird, not all that concerned for the little one. While she knew she would have to deal with the angry baby at some point she wanted to keep her focus on the one that mattered the most. "Hah! Come on!" V'demhe swung her blade at the large bird and was greeted with a scree with a flurry of feathers. Flapping it's wings at her the mother Kinfa hopped toward her and tried to corral her away from the smaller. When she was bumped Dem moved backward, not that she minded so much.
Swinging her blades in front of her she kept the older of the two at bay. "Down little bird.." The Alkidike called. It didn't work. The mother slammed her head down and pecked at Dem harshly. Her beak caught the young warrior on the shoulder that was covered by armor. A fact that she was glad for since she knew those beaks could be vicious things. "No. No biting." Dem called out as the Kinfa came at her again with the same tactic.
This time she was caught on the clavicle and let out a hiss. "That's it!" V'demhe called out. Dropping her blades on the ground she ran at the bird and jumped head first in a tackle. Taking the Kinfa down with her she bit down on the feathered beast's wing. There was a loud squak and some rough shuffling before Dem was flung to the ground with a loud thunk. Acting quickly she rolled and got to her feet in time to avoid being stomped on by some taloned feet. "I told you not to bite." A single shoulder lifted into the air as though it were obvious she would have done such a thing.
Not wanting to get into a full on wrestling match with the angry mother she swayed from side to side and waited for the beast to make it's move. When she did V'demhe tucked and rolled to go right under the creature to confuse it. This was a fight she knew she would not win. The mother was going off instinct to protect her chick and Dem was the enemy.
Coming to a conclusion rather quickly V'demhe ran at the baby Kinfa and took it completely by surprise. Within seconds she had the small bird in hand and was running. Of course she had to stop for a moment to pick up her weapons but once that was done she was tearing across the ground like a bat out of hell.

As she made her escape she could hear the mother freaking out as she made to follow. V'demhe quickly took to the cover of trees to make it more difficult for the larger Kinfa to get at her. However, she forgot that even a baby Kinfa was a force to be reckoned with when it was determined. Not but a few minutes into her run for safety she felt a sharp pain on her hand. The little thing had bitten her! It actually bit her! With a yowl and curse she released her grip on the beast and let it drop to the ground. Well, so much for the idea of keeping it as a pet! "Evil feathered things!" Dem spat. Shaking her hand she tried to rid herself of the sharp pain but when she heard the mother once more call out from above she lowered instantly to the ground and looked up. Her antennae giving a twitch or two in warning. It was high time she made a full get-away. Leaving the chick to it's own devices, and knowing that it's mother would soon be upon it, she hauled herself up and took off in a full run.
