"I'll work like there's five of me," Mary said, making her own private joke, and nodding. But she stopped nodding the second Rocco mentioned Vanitas being her mentor. She furrowed her brow, and tried her best not to scream about having a dog-freak as a boss. She most definitely did not want to get bossed around by a guy who wasn't even wearing a god damn uniform. Instead of giving Rocco a glare and leaving, she straightened a bit and tried her best to coax him out of it, considering she really did need this job. "Your brother's wedding? Congratulations! But, uh, I don't think I need a mentor, I'm positive I can make a decent cup of tea without guidance, and I can cook pretty much anything..." Mary trailed off, trying not to sound like she was bragging.
She smirked as Rocco clapped a hand over Vanitas's mouth, and she wished she had done it sooner. But, alas, it was short-lived, as Vanitas bit his manager's hand, causing him to let go. "He's not so bad. I had a friend back in New York with a very similar personality." She shot a glare at Vanitas as she said this. By friend Mary meant the old lady she worked under, but she didn't want to get into the specifics. That woman did have quite the attitude, always criticizing Mary when she cloned the wrong jar of vegetables. However, she insulted the teen in a supportive way, if there was such a thing.
Mary frowned as Vanitas refused to get her a coffee, saying he wouldn't serve a fellow employee. She raised an eyebrow, and took a deep breath. Yeah, working here would be just lovely. She turned back to Rocco. "Well, Mr. Belientus, I'll take the job. Do have any time in particular you would want me to work any shifts? I am attending college at Ashhaven, so that blocks up some of my schedule." She leaned against the table they were standing next to. She was slowly getting more tired, and she knew she couldn't keep this up much longer. "But other than that, I'm willing to come in whenever you need me to. Oh, and, er... Could I go make myself a cup of coffee. I really need one."

l. o. c. a. t. i. o. n. //; The Grog Shop xxxxxxxxxxxxxSalt Augustus Salt had engulfed herself in her books to the point where the strangers' words disappeared from her consciousness. She'd tuned them out completely focusing on several things. First, it was the literature question. The young girl had read over her notes and formulated answers in hear head. It had simply served to frustrate her further; she didn't have 'an answer'. She had several. They weren't simple answers, they weren't answers of 100% accuracy. She pouted in her cogitation. The professor made it seem so simple.
A break was given to that once her cheeks started to warm petulantly. More studying ensued, this time, on creature species. Salt, while in the library, had taken a look at the yearbooks from past years. She recorded the creature specie list in her notebook, and intended to read up on most of them. For many, she knew a lot. Vampires, Demons/Demonic Beings, Angels/Angelic Beings, Cannibalistic Specie, Nymphs and Fae, Anthropomorphic Specie, and a few more. But those only scratched the surface. There were a multitude of others to research, to indulge in. Alas, she had so little time.
And how that little time passed. Salt checked her watch after what seemed like 30 minutes and her eyes widened. It was 5:10! She looked around the shop. Most people had left, but the strangers remained. Tired eyes looked almost panicked. Professor Ishiin said to be punctual. She didn't expect that type of man to be late, unless he had a good reason to be. The college student wrung her hands nervously, hoping the teacher was alright. To ease her nerves, she took out a pencil and notebook filled with math equations. They looked like random numbers. With utmost efficiency and speed, Salt began to work on this problem:
Staring at it for a few moments and tapping the pencil's eraser on her cute button nose, her eyebrows knitted together in deep thought. A few seconds later, she made a high pitched noise of understanding, smiling to herself. "Silly me! It's obviously a vector, I just need to set them equal to each other..."
Her pencil scraped the paper quickly as she worked out the equation, nodding to herself when it was finished. She quickly wrote up an explanation for her answer as she had been taught to do, and got up to stretch, feeling much better.
After her small break, Salt returned to her seat and resumed her studies. She checked the time and before she knew it, was already meeting with professor Ishiin. Their conversation was one filled with flushed cheeks, laughs, and pouts. Such a silly question, such high expectations of her! They took their separate ways after a serving of tea and scones, and Salt made her way to the meet n' greet.
