Yaara was paired up with a fellow only a little taller than her. They put their heads together and decided to try something a little ambitious, but if they managed to pull it off, it’d be amazing! At least that had been the plan. Their routine started as a sort of a waltz. Now, not a difficult dance by any means. Their posture was right, arms in the right position, hands where they needed to be, and enough space between them. However, there seemed to be a schism in who was to lead and who to follow. Her partner had kind of defaulted to it, but their grip was loose and he wasn’t moving her as she was wanting, kept looking at their feet. Frustration grew and it was a few passes before Yaara whispered to her dance partner, “Mind if I lead for this next bit? I have an idea.” Before he had a chance to counter her request, she quickly changed her hand positions and spun her partner in a turn. The second bit of their routine shifted from a waltz to a vague tango style dance. She felt things went a bit more smoothly when she was leading. The tango had similar arm placement, less space between dancers, different leg movements. With a finally spin, and little warning, she dipped her classmate into a very shallow dip, one he was very tense for but held on just fine, and that was that. Not too bad, not great either, overall okay, as far as Yaara’s opinion was concerned.
