 As usual Maud was in no real hurry to get anywhere, and all the rocks on this new land intrigued her. As a rocktologist every new rock needed to be catalogued in her mind. She had just passed a large body of water, and in the distance she could see a tree, a massive tree, growing tall. Maud squinted and wondered what kind of rocks would be under such a massive tree that could allow for such growth. Turning towards the tree in the distance she decided to check it out.

((hubby had to go to work an hour before me. Lol))
Pinkie Pie had been enjoying another happy, fun, Sun-shining day in Laisidhiel that she just had to share it with all her Apple friends! After ensuring to the tree guards that she had a "Special Delivery" for Rarity and Applejack over at the New Sweet Apple Acres, she bounced happily along the path towards the bridge. With her party wagon in tow. Party Cannon, scraps of confetti and a few other things stuffed seemingly to the brim!
Such is the way of Pinkie Pie!
As she bounced, she giggled and snerked at various things in her head. Often times jokes or pranks or other random ways to make everypon-.... er... everyFAUNY smile! She became so distracted by such thoughts that her brain didn't completely process just who she happened to be bouncing past at the moment.
Bounce! Bounce! Spring! Bounce! A giggle and a snort! Bounce! "Oh! Hey Maud!" she giggled and bounced a few more times.
A sound reminiscent of comical skidding halted her frozen. Her eyes wide and face fell into momentary shock!
Almost instantaneously, her hooves shuffled backwards churning up dirt as she quickly backpeddled and skid to another stop in front of Maud. Her eyes still wide in both shock and amazement!
"Maud?!" She half squeaked. "Maud! Is it really really you?!" She then asked, her nose practically mooshing up against hers. She didn't leave her much of a chance to answer before a high pitched "EEE!" caused a few nearby birds to flutter off in surpris!
GLOMP!
"OH MY GOSH! THISISSOEXCITING! I THOUGHT I'D NEVER EVER SEE YOU AGAI- ... Wait...."
Nearly shoving Maud back to get a better look, Pinkie's face immediately turned quizzical. "How do I know you're really Maud?"
She rubbed her chin a moment then narrowed her brow. "Quick! What's my name? And say something about rocks!!"
Given the circumstances, Pinkie needed some sort of proof, right?

Maud watched the tree ahead grow larger as she neared it, she too wasn't really paying attention to anyone passing her. She heard her name and took her gaze off the tree, "Hello" she replied without thinking about it.
Her slow walk was brought to an abrupt halt when her sister was suddenly nose to nose to her. "Yes.." she started to reply in a simple stoic tone, Maud had no further chance to continue her sentence when Pinkie let out a high pitch sound.
"Who else would I be" she felt herself be pushed back slightly "You are Pinkie Pie, Examples of igneous rocks include granite, basalt, obsidian and pumice." Maud watched her sister.

Pinkie was quiet and studied Maud rather critically. Her eyes narrowed after a moment or two.
"A simple deduction, MAUD..." she started, rubbing her chin. "If that's even your name..."
She circled slowly around Maud. Now going into investigator mode. Anyone who was anyone would easily know her name... Obviously... And anyone could ramble off a simple thing like that about rocks. But this possible Maud imposer had to be verified as the real deal for Pinkie to bring her back to the tree without the tree guards going crazy on them. Her. Just her. Well, maybe Pinkie would stand up for her because, let's face it. She's definitely Maud. But, yano-...
STAY FOCUSED!
Coming back around to leap into a stand in front of Maud, Pinkie pointed almost accusingly, "What's the desity of Limestone? What type of a rock resembles a watermelon in color? And what was the name of the Boulder that was essentially the cornerstone of the family farm?"

Maud watched the tree ahead of her, even as her critical and crazy sister circled her. Then she soon had a finger inches from her eyes and she nearly went crosseyed and she took a single step back to get the hand a little further from her face. Maud lifted a hand to push her sister's down lightly. Even voiced she continued to answer Pinkie's interrogation, "Well Limestone has a density 2.5 to 2.7 kilograms to centimeter cubed, of course that would depend that it's in stone form and not any other form and they are quite impervious, hard, compact, fine to very fine grained calcareous rocks of sedimentary nature. The watermelon tourmaline is a rare variety that displays three different colors in the same crystal - green just like the skin of the watermelon, pink like the flesh and white representing the rind." She paused her longwinded speech a moment to take a breath then continued "As for our farm and it's boulder that is the Holder's Boulder it oversaw the quarry and the mines of our sister Limestone. Any more questions?"

"Nope!" she said simply but cheerfully. She was convinced enough. Deep in her Pinkie heart of Pinkie she already knew. One couldn't be too safe, though!
Her face seemed to be forever trapped in the biggest grin to ever grin before her body started to fidgit... then explode! She bounded around a moment or two exclaiming loudly in a ramble of words on just how happy she was to finally see Maud again! Which then trailed into an over-ecstatic explanation of everything that she'd done since coming to the tree.
"--OMIGOSH! I can't wait to introduce to all my new friends! They're just going to Love love LOVE you! Just like all my Ponyville friends! Oh! And I absolutely MUST introduce you to the Chief! He's kinda like our Princesses cause he runs all the fauns in the tree! Only, he's not a Princess, obviously, cause he isn't really a girl, but you get the idea. OH! And we gotta get you a home set up too. EEEE!~ We can have a sleepover at my place until it's all set-up! You can sleep in Gummy's bed. He's had the top bunk for a while, but Pfft! I'm sure he won't mind for a few nights!"
She bounced around Maud some more, periodically snatching her up into a great big hug! She truly missed her sister.
"Omigosh! I'm so excited! I just can't contain myself!!!" She then squeeled then promptly retrieved something from her mane. "And look! I still make these! These are yours!"
She thrust a pair of Rock-Candy necklaces at Maud. Something of a tradition they had shared for ages.

Maud couldn't help but internally smile, it was the sister she always knew and loved. It did not surprise her that Pinkie had succeeded in making many more friends, she was always that kind of girl.
"You live in a tree?" She questioned her sister after the rambling slowed "Which tree? Where?" Now she was curious, after all this was a new place to her and she certainly wasn't used to faunys living in trees.
Then before she could get an answer Pinkie thrust the rock candy necklaces at her. She took them and pulled her sister into a hug "Thanks Pinkie"

"Well, Duh! Only the biggest tree you've ever seen!" She did a little bit of a head wobble, hands upon her hips as her eyes rolled slightly. A tease of sorts? "Oh look!" she then chimed as she spun on a hoof and pointed up. "There it is!"
She beamed a great big smile and giggled. "And if you squint juuust a little and tilt your head 17 degrees to the leeeft, stick out your tongue and look above the one, two, three four, seventh center branch, you can almost see my window!" She displayed the correct method she described then scrunched her nose with a shrug. "........... Almost..."
"It's obviously much much bigger on the inside. But this is where the Faun have been living for ever and ever! Wait until you see them! They look sorta like us! Only their hooves are split and they all have two horns on their heads made of sticks! Some of them even grow leaves on them! LEAVES!!! Can you believe that!" she snorted and then giggled. "Apparently they're born from the acorns of the tree itself! And we supposedly came from the same tree, but our acorns got seperated and drifted off during a terrible storm. And the place that we landed in - we know it as Equestria - apparently had a different kind of magic that made us look like Ponies! So WE grew up calling ourselves Ponies, but when we got here, we discovered we're actually called Faunies. I guess that's because they call themselves Faun? And we're technically cousins in a sense since we're all from the same tree."
It was here that Pinkie took in a deep breath, her eyes wide as if she just realized something vitally important. "Then we MUST be related to the Apples! Oh Man! I can't wait to tell AJ the happy news!!" Pinkie took a moment to dance a bit in place.
"C'mon! I'll introduce you to Laisidhiel!" she giggled and began skipping ahead of Maude in the trail.

"Well I'll be" Maud mused as her sister pointed at the very tree she had in fact been heading for to inspect as it was. And now she was even more curious as she now was hearing that others like herself were living in it.
She listened to Pinkie's instructions and lifted a hand to squint towards area her sister was pointing at trying to see the window she was referring to, but it was still a ways off. And then her sister started on another ramble about acorns and others called fauns, that would be one very big family if everyone was related.
Related to the Apples, she assumed Pinkie meant Apple Jack, Pinkie's friend that Maud had met so many seasons ago. When Pinkie skipped on ahead back towards the direction she had come from Maud moved to follow "Lead on Pinkie" she motioned ahead of them.

"So!" Pinkie started again and stopped her bounding long enough for Maud to catch up to her. "How did you escape that big, evil, invisible, but not really invisible, scary, big-meanie threat that took over Equestria?" she grinned then scratched her head. "We've been here for quite a while now. And even though you aren't the first pony to come stragglin' in, I'm still curious to know how? And why'd it take you so long to answer the tree?"

Maud eventually caught up to her sister, she was in no hurry as usual. "Same way you did. Did you know this land has a lot of different rocks?" her voice was deadpan as usual. She came close to her sister and then took her eyes off the tree ahead "I was heading to see the ones that may be part of that tree ahead of us when you saw me"
