It had been a number of weeks since Walpurgis had heard about Karina's death at the hands of Team Rocket. It had been slightly less time than that since he had destroyed his communicator. Even less time still since he had gone back to Katarina to look after his daughter.
Sitting under a tree in the park, the former Team Rocket director had shadows under his eyes from a lack of sleep, caused by a fear of the organization coming for him; not from any fear for himself - he deserved anything Team Rocket would do - but fear for his daughter, Urthemiel. The girl had been thrust into this life by Karina and himself, both equally foolish in their idealism after their marriage. Not for the first time, Walpurgis wondered if the strawberry blonde haired girl would have been better off in the orphanage. Better off if they had never even met.
He could almost hear Karina yelling at him. "Ya dumbass! If'n we never met 'er, we wouldn'ta had tha best days of our life together!" Walpurgis gave a soft snort as he closed his eyes. It would be exactly what she would say, too. Hearing someone approach, he opened his emerald eyes to see Urthemiel standing in front of him with Elaine, the cleffa memento from Karina, in her hands. Her blue eyes were filled with worry.
"Dad, we're safe here. You can rest."
Walpurgis opened his mouth to say that nowhere was truly safe, but thought better of it. Instead, he forced a smile. "Thanks, Ur. Maybe I will." There was no point in scaring the teenager with fears of boogeymen from Team Rocket. They hadn't come after them, yet, maybe it was alright to rest, if just for a moment. Urthemiel sat down next to him, and he closed his eyes.
He fell asleep nearly instantly, and began to dream of happier times.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me. I can hardly eat a salad without feeling sorry for all of those plants, how the heck can you expect me to off a guy?"
Lennyka slid her thumb across her communicator screen, glancing over the mission specs, as her other lazily massaged a towel through her teal locks. "Huh, I heard of this guy. Differed from TR some time ago or something like that. No wonder they want him dead." She bit her bottom lip and then sighed. "Why the heck did I have to be roped into this? I don't have anything against the fella. Ugh..." The agent glanced over to Daffodil who was nosing her way under the blanket on her room's bed. "C'mon Daff, we've a job to do," she said, beckoning her. This elicited a long moan that obviously signaled the Raichu's disdain.
What information was already gathered said this Walwhateverwhatever was seen around urban areas. So Lennyka bounded off to the nearest city and took to the best laid plan she had at the moment: Procrastinating until someone else said they claimed his head. As she read the mission specs one more time, also studying the picture provided again, she looked down to her Raichu and let out another miserable sigh. "Hey, you hungry, Daffodil?" she asked the Electric-type. "There's a place a little down this way that makes the best crepes. Want one?"
The Raichu nodded her head vigorously. "Rai, rai!" she said excitedly, bouncing in place.
"All right, all right, let's get goi— Oh, sweet Arceus." Suddenly, Lennyka eyes widened at the sight in front of her. In that moment, luck seemed more like a curse rather than a blessing. The face she had just skimmed on the screen of her communicator was now enlivened in the flesh, though looking far worse for wear. Immediately, her mind drove her into mission mode against her better judgement. That meant concentration, stealth, quietness...
"Oh, hey, y-you're... You're that guy!" Well, so much for that. Lennyka thrust a gloved finger at the male and his child, her faced fixed into a scowl. "The, um, the traitor!"

Walpurgis stirred as Ur shook him awake. The first thing he noticed was that a few hours must have passed. The second was a blue haired girl with a raichu pointing a finger at him. Years of training kicked in, and he was instantly alert, green eyes scanning the surrounding area for signs of anyone else. A few passersby, but no one looking at them. Either there were no rockets among them, or they were exceedingly good at staying covert. Walpurgis recognized the blue haired girl, however. They were once paired with a young girl named Saya, and tasked with assassinating a reporter. For the life of him, he couldn't remember how the mission had gone, but he knew that the girl was a member of Team Rocket; Lennyka Eckert - codenamed Blue Dahlia. His left hand gripped Urthemiel's as his right searched for a pokeball. Grasping it in his hand, he briefly wondered which pokemon he had grabbed before deciding it ultimately didn't matter. Looking his former team mate in the eye, he spoke calmly. "Hello, Lennyka." He shakily got to his feet along with Urthemiel, who looked at him worriedly. "I suppose Team Rocket finally decided to hunt me down?"

The brief encounter during that mission had escaped her memory, so when Walpurgis said her named, she hooted in surprise and backed away a step. "How do you...?" she began, before shaking her head of the statement and clenching her fists. "I don't know what you're getting at, but yes, they have. And I... I've been sent along with others to track you down. And k-kill you."
Daffodil shivered when her owner said this; the rigidness in her form could be read like an open book—she obviously didn't want to do this. "Rai, rai," Daffodil said to her, trying to coax her away from the idea, but Lennyka ignored her.
"Since we're already here, we can get down to business. So let's—" Before she continued, the agent eyed Urthemiel. "Oh, for the love of— Can you get that kid out of here?" She ripped her eyes away from the youth and glared at a tree branch instead. "These aren't things a little girl should hear."

Urthemiel looked at Walpurgis, eyes full of trepidation, but he gripped her hand tighter. "Don't worry, Ur. I'm not leaving you." He whispered, and the teenager nodded. Louder, he addressed his former comrade. "I'd really prefer not to fight you. I can tell you're not the one who killed Karina, so I have no quarrel with you. I'm just a man trying to protect what's left of his family - and I once believed you were part of that. You and everyone else in Team Rocket. So, please, stand down. I don't want to have to kill you."Ur stared at the other girl, wondering if such an appeal would work - this was a member of Team Rocket, after all. But, then again, her parents were both Rockets, too, and they were nice. She thumbed at Elaine's pokeball absently.

Lennyka winced at the mention of "family." Family? What family? The only person she ever considered family disappeared out of her life, the heck did she care of family? Still, the mentioning hit rather hard, and the corner of her mouth twitched from its frown. "As if I want to fight you too," she said with sarcastic indifference to the ground. "I have my orders, I'm... I'm not going to go against them. I can't." Lennyka glared at the two here. "If I do, then it's my head on the chopping block, okay? I'm not going to let it happen to me. I'm not going to let what happened to Sorano happen to me, okay?!"
