”I know, Faye. Just call mom. You know she has the answers,” Faye huffed at the phone as the screen went dark. Vivir had called her while she was at the arena. She had walked off from a potential friend making experience and a really cute puppy. Though the puppy was not actually a puppy. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d eaten a wolf. Felt like ages since she eaten anything with her jaws. Yes, yes. She eats with her human teeth, but she misses the feel of snapping up some creature with dragon teeth.

Faye let out another sigh. Vivir had called to inform her that not only would he and Salvaxe be coming to see her during Christmas, but so would their parents. That made her nervous. She half wished that Arden would be coming with them, but… He probably didn’t want to see her anymore. Not now that he has Gora. How was it that a pure bred Fire Clan youngling finds himself paired with a Water/Shadow hybrid?
Of course he’s happy with my polar opposite! she thought bitterly.

All he’d wanted was to lay with her in human form. She thought it was love, but it wasn’t. That’s not even what had bothered her. Sex was something expected of younglings. It just happened. Younglings wouldn’t be able to reproduce until after at least their second century of life. So that definitely wasn’t their problem. No. The issue was that he lied to her. He said he loved her and that when they were old enough, he would try to convince her father to let them be together.
All lies! He’d been with Gora before her. Faye knew that. But Arden had sworn they were done…

Where was she going with this train of thought? All she’d done was make herself mad and she could feel a warmth in the back of her throat. That shouldn’t be there. Vivir had said something about her crystal… but her crystal wasn’t present in her human form… So her human form ran hot... Very hot. She let out a low breath. No flame, no smoke. Completely normal.

”Ugh!” She was so aggravated. She needed a hot bath. Stat. She kicked off her heels and shimmied out of her jeans. A slight struggle with the corset ended in her favor and she stalked to the bathroom. She filled the tub with hot water and added her favorite scented oils and salts. It felt good to just soak in the tub. She washed her hair and scrubbed under her nails and exfoliated her feet. Just nice pampering, because she could. She let out a joyous sigh and ducked her head under the surface of the water.

Her heart leapt into her throat. Faye broke the surface of the water. She’d scared herself. In her own bathtub. She burst into laughter. She knew she feared water when she like this, and she still put herself under. Wow. She shook her head and drained the tub. She wrapped a fluffy peach towel around herself and started a facial. She wanted to relax more before calling her mom.

Facial completed, Faye left her bathroom and dressed. Comfy, white cotton panties and simple pink mini dress for a nightgown. The only reason she’d gotten dressed at all was so that she could go get a snack. She put on her favorite rose quartz rose ring and a delicate winged necklace. She didn’t need to wear them, but they were pretty and she wanted to wear them. She threw on a pair of cute lacey white flats and grabbed her phone.
                  Time for a snack!

Faye grabbed a parfait, courtesy of the Culinary Club. She’d asked if it were possible to make one that was mostly tart and not too sweet, because she’s not the biggest fan of sweets. Most granola is fine, because it reminds her of chewing on fruit trees. It’s when they put chocolate on stuff, that's when things get weird. Regardless, someone had managed to make her a lemon parfait with raspberries and muddled mint and granola. It was lovely.

Faye decided she wanted to see the moon. She thought she could pretend that she was staring at the same moon as her mom while they talked. She fished a plastic spoon from one of the drawers and headed out. Now she was doubly glad she’d gotten dressed. She wandered for a little bit before finding a place with a nice few of the moon. She sat down and stared up as she spooned her tart parfait into her mouth. It was yummy and she felt at peace.

Faye lifted her phone in front of her face as she licked her spoon clean. She scrolled to her mother’s contact and pressed send. She needed to know why her throat glowed. She had so many questions… Hopefully Beleza would answer her.

”Faye.” Her voice was like the most soothing violin piece one could think of. Faye smiled at the sound of it. It had been too long.

                  ”Mummy…”

Nightmares plagued his sleep. Images flashing through his mind rapidly, not making any real sense or telling him anything. It was as if he were watching a movie in fast forward, things happening too rapidly for him to understand. Blood splattering against walls, bodies lying on the floor, sprawled out and motionless. Blood running down his face, smeared across his clothes, his tongue running over his lips, a smirk twisting the corner of his mouth upward. A knife on the floor, crimson liquid pooled around it, his hand drenched in red. The smirk faded as his mouth opened, a scream rising from his throat, his hands moving up to his face, gripping it as he looked at the scene.

The scene was jagged, skipping as if it were a poorly edited movie, the images 'glitching' in his mind, as if it were being viewed improperly. The more his mind focused on it, trying to understand these 'glitches,' the more they would occur, images jumping - The knife would fall from his hand, a glitch would occur, making it appear as if the knife were being released from his grip repeatedly, falling in a jagged manner. Another glitch would occur when he saw his face; at first, he could see himself, then it would flash to a younger version of himself, though the blood remained, the look in the younger version's eyes one of anger and insanity. The glitch would end, returning Kieran's image to his present self.

Laughter could be heard in the background, familiar laughter. The male turned and looked around him, trying to locate the source. The laughter began to distort, deepening and echoing as it continued. As it continued, it began to grow louder, Kieran gripping his head as it began to hurt from the volume.

Kieran sat up abruptly, looking around as his body shook violently. His mind raced as he tried to orient himself to his surroundings, trying to make sense of where he was. It was night, he was still in the infirmary. Maren was sleeping soundly next to him in her bed, her back to him. His breathing began to slow as he calmed down, adjusting to everything and remembering. He stood up and stretched his legs, trying to relax.

It was around this time that Kaijin appeared, opening the door silently as he stepped in. He waved Kieran into the other room, not wanting to disturb Maren's sleep. When Kieran entered, Kaijin closed the door and sat down at his desk. "Are you alright? I could hear you thrashing in bed. Your heart rate set off an alarm. I wanted to make sure you weren't about to have a heart attack on me. What was going on? Nightmares?" he asked, looking to Kieran.

The younger male sat in the chair, rubbing his eyes and running his hands through his hair. "Yeah.. Yeah, I'm fine.. Just bad dreams. You know how it goes." he said with a laugh, trying to reassure himself more than anyone else.

Yang sat in the library staring at the letter. Upon entering the main lobby the receptionist had handed it to her, the back of the envelope had no return address, rather, no address at all--only three words sat neatly on the center: Yang Xiao Long. Yang hurriedly opened the letter, wondering who it could be from she read anxiously.

                                                                  ---
                                                                  Yang,

I won't be able to make it to your school this year, something came up.
After reading the last letter, you probably have a lot of questions--especially about your family. Just know, all the answers you are searching for will appear, given time.
You just need to be patient, and it will all come back to you.

                                                                  ---

Yang pulled back from the letter. It was without a name, but obvious who it was from. His lack of attendance didn't bother her, but his lack of answers that only irritated her further. What could he mean? She read the last line over and over again. "It will all come back to you."

She paused. "It will all come back...to you?" She crumpled up the paper in frustration.
                                                                  "What does that mean?!"

With a huff, she unraveled the crumpled paper and neatly folded it into her pocket. She slumped in her chair, only now noticing the echos of her movements in the vacant library. Every cough was a shout, the sound of a pin drop could blow an eardrum. The library was silent.

Left with nothing but her thoughts, Yang grew restless. She pulled the letter from her pocket and read it again. This time she noticed his mention of the previous letter he sent.

She reached into her other pocket and tugged out the first letter, setting the two side by side she read them again.

The first letter was badly damaged due to Yang's 'outburst' when she first removed her gauntlets, but it was still slightly legible. It read yet another apology, but for sending her off into the world without ever informing her of who she was and where she came from. Yang twisted her face at the absurdity. She knew who she was and where she came from. She was Yang, a human born and raised in the woods with her Uncle and sister.

She recalled small fragments of her childhood, playing happily with her sister in the forest. Everything was happy. Yang's reminiscent smile fell.

No, everything wasn't happy. This is wrong.

Yang felt uneasy, something was wrong but she didn't know what. Her emotions suddenly overwhelmed her and she stood abruptly. Almost too vividly, Yang remembered the pain of setting on fire. She felt it coming, but the gauntlets prevented her emotions from controlling her power. The flames were licking the gold, as if trying to escape. Beads of sweat emerged on her hairline as she relived her horrid, confusing experience of being engulfed into flames.

She sped out of the library and out into the bitter cold of December. She breathed in short, quick bursts holding her chest as if to slow down her erratic heartbeat. She knelt down into a pile of snow and scooped two handfuls into her face. The small prickling pieces of ice melted away and left her face a bright, blotchy red. Standing from the pile, Yang composed herself, catching her breath.
                                                                  "I'm okay."

Location: Dorm Room 105 xxStatus: Temperamental

xxxxxLocation: Infirmary // Mood: Quiet // Company: Kaijin, Maren

Kaijin looked to Kieran with an arched brow, not quite believing his words as the younger male attempted to explain himself. When he finished, Kaijin shook his head. "I'm not quite so interested in your reasons, as to the dreams themselves. That sounds highly peculiar. And it fits with what I saw just a few minutes ago." he said. Turning, he brought up a keyboard and began typing on it, the hologram screen popping up with a display of two wave patterns. The top was a single wave, uniform and rhythmic. The bottom was erratic, a dual pattern that intersected at times, but was generally unpredictable.

"I want you to take a look at the screen. The top half depicts a wave form pattern of your average person in REM sleep. You'll notice that the waves are uniform, a slight curve up and down that repeats indefinitely." he started, pointing to the bottom one next. "This bottom pattern is yours. The pattern is completely unpredictable, and one would almost assume your mind is constantly running, even when sleeping. I find this incredibly worrying, Kieran. This is a pattern I've seen before, albeit rarely." The physician turned to face Kieran, waving his arm as the screen disappeared. "Kieran, this pattern is something I've noticed in patients with extreme mental dysfunctions. The patients that I've treated with this pattern have typically been extremely violent and dangerous. They've also developed another condition that I've seen plenty of times, and I'm worried that you could be affected by such a thing."

The brunette stared at the older male for a moment, unsure of what to say. Only one thing came from his mouth when it finally did open. "So, what're you trying to say? You saying I'm crazy? That I'm violent and dangerous? You saying I'm a freak?" he asked, balling his right hand into a fist. "Because I ain't some freak. I'm not what you're trying to make me out to be. Listen, Doc. I can explain all that. I got something in my head. A demon. It's a long story, but--"

"Kieran. Please. There's nothing to be ashamed about when you have something wrong with you. If something's wrong, it's better to admit it so you can get help. If you get help, you won't have to worry so much about it. I only want to help you, and I can't do that if you're not going to be honest with me." Kaijin interrupted his explanation, waving his hand dismissively. "I understand that it's difficult to come to terms with something that you feel is embarrassing or shameful, but you don't need to worry about that. I'm a scientist, and the physician of this school. Whatever happens here is strictly between the two of u--"

This time it was Kieran's turn to interrupt, slamming his hands down on the arms of the chair that Kaijin sat in, his eyes beginning to turn green. "You just don't get it, do you, Doc? I ain't lyin' to you. Why would I wanna lie about something like that?" he asked, his hands squeezing on the chair, his grip turning his knuckles white as the green bled further into his eyes, quickly taking it over as the demon took control.

"And besides, you ain't exactly bein' very honest yourself, Doc. I can see into that little heart of yours. I can see past the lies and the manipulations you try to put up." he said, the venomous green of the demon's eyes glaring into Kaijin's. "Those poor people, Doc. Those things you did to them. How can you live with yourself, knowing that you did more than kill them? You tortured them. You used them like rats. And now you wanna use Kieran like one, too." His voice was low but dripping with fury. "It'll be a cold day in Hell before I let you get your grubby little mitts on this kid, you understand me? I'll make sure of that."

He shoved the chair hard, pushing him back against the desk and making a loud crash as he turned and fled. Once he was far enough away, Kieran took over once again. His body was shaking, his lungs burning for breath as he stopped to catch his breath. "Just what the Hell is going on? Just who are you? Who am I, even..?" He balled his hand into a fist and started walking again, not really paying attention. Before he knew it, he had wandered out by the woods, away from the school and those that would eventually come hunting for him.
