It had been several months since Ralae moved in with Kleos. She was happier, her mind more stable but still she felt lacking and unsure of herself. Sitting in their weyr, she was at the desk attempting to mend some straps but her mind kept wandering even as her eyes flitted about the room. Neither of them were messy but personal affects were scattered about as if they had been weyr mates all these turns. In some ways, Ralae mused, they had.
The hatching just a couple days earlier had been fairly uneventful and it had done her & Zabreth some good watching the hatchlings and their bonded walk off the sands. Even now, her own green dragon was out near the water splashing and enjoying herself. Ralae laughed, she was sure that their collection would be added to tonight.
Zabreth broke through her rider's thoughts with a bugle. Leaping into the skies, she trilled at all of those surrounding the lake.
Ralae stood up quickly. She had known Zabreth was proddy, even waiting for the moment. Thankfully, Ralae was where she wanted to be when the dragon lust would hit. Unfortunately, she hadn't worked up the nerve to tell the one person she wanted the depth of her true feelings. As calmly as possible, Ralae pushed a chair against the door and made sure that the other entrance was blocked as much as possible.
Zabreth was high into the air, the chase had begun.

Moriath raised her head, picking up the message passed to her from Ralae via Zabreth and rumbled deep in her chest as she sent a feeling of assent back to Zaberth, including Ralae herself in it as well. < >
Kleos looked up from her papers and klah which she had been poring over and sipping in the dininghall and nodded, a small frown knitting her brow. <>
The scarred red dragon replied with a mental shrug. <>
<> Kleos finished her klah in one swallow and gathered up her papers before making for the exit. If Ralae wished to be alone for the flight Kleos would make sure that happened, nobody would be going into their weyr without going through her first!
Long strides carried the blonde woman quickly over to where Moriath was waiting for her and she clambered onto the crimson's back; Moriath loped off towards their weyr without a word needing to be exchanged. About a dragonlength from the comfortable little home Moriath came to a halt; Kleos remained seated between her shoulders, sharp green eyes scanning for any frisky riders who might wish to join Ralae.

The green dragon was known for her loops and twirls, her dives and ducking skills. It made her valuable when they were allowed to fly thread, as she could get low to the ground. But for now, she was buzzing around in the sky, calling to her suitors.
Ralae paced back and forth in the weyr. Her skin itched and she could feel the dull throb of list trying to creep up on her. Vaguely, she wondered if it was too late to change her mind. But shaking, hands wrapped and gripping her arms, Ralae knew that the pleasure would not be so great as her dragon's fun. The green rider would not sully her dragon as she twined necks with another with wings. Why? Why had she waited to talk to her crush?
Because, Ralae still feared the rejection and hurt. Small indents from her nails were on her arms as she looked for the bottle of wine. It wouldn't ease the dragon list but make it bearable when the worst hit. Taking a gulp, she gasped. Not used to drinking so quickly, only sipping and laughing with Kleos', Ralae tried not to let a sob sound. Why did she wait?

Now standing on her dragon's shoulders Kleos folded her hands behind her back at parade rest and treated the few riders of male dragons who were beginning to mill around hopefully to dark glares. "Ralae wishes to be alone," she informed the group in sharp clipped tones. "Go on, be off with you and make your entertainment elsewhere!" Though Kleos had long since come to accept the ways of the Weyrs there was a small holdborn part of her that still found it peculiar that people would tumble into bed with just anyone because of the effects of flights. The fact that she had not experienced one herself did not affect her belief that she was in a position to have an opinion on the matter of course, Kleos had an opinion on everything. Moriath meanwhile was watching her clutchmate's progress with approving interest. < > Ah so be so swift herself! She did envy greens that a little but she knew she had her own virtues in place of that agility, and plenty of them! In any case Pern needed females with a range of talents, they couldn't go relying on males to cover any bases for them! Silvers and blacks were not to bad of course, and she had come to respect individual males of other hues over the turns, but by and large she still found blues, browns and bronzes to be rather inadequate creatures.

Zabreth gave a roar that didn't seem so tough as she flew over the water and rolled back up into the air. Why it felt like she could do this all day!
Raise ground her teeth. She wanted to peer out and see if Kleos really was standing guards over her like a true friend. Of she admitted anything now, her friend might think it under the influence of Dragon lust. Just then, she heard the crimson rider scolding some males who came to find her. Peeking out the door, she breathed a sigh of relief when Kleos stood stoically if front, looking like a sight to be reckoned with and ready to go to battle. "Thank you," she whispered. Sweat was starting to head as Zabreth's mind slowly became one with her own.

Kleos gave a small huff of satisfaction as the group of men and women dispersed, some alone while others exchanged looks and then paired off together. Well whatever pleased them she supposed, it wasn't harming anyone. Moriath too gave a huff, her's was of mild amusement at her sister's antics. she commented to Kleos, answering the smaller female's roar with one of her own. she called cheerfully, her voice full of pride at the green's grace and speed.

Zabreth crooned at her red clutch sister. Claws extended, she backwinged and almost started to land but then pumped her wings and went higher.
Ralae's skin was slick with sweat. Her hair damp, she had several swallows of wine in her and on an light stomach. She was near the outside entrance, up against the wall. Knees to chest, arms wrapped around her knees, Ralae knew the best way to finally get through was to let herself go... Maybe if she daydreams about her secret love. Still, even in her dreams, she was scared of the rejection. Tears filled her eyes, the pain of denying pleasure becoming one haze of emotion. 'Kleos, I need you... If only I weren't so scared,' Ralae thought to herself... Almost wishing she had the dragon's ability to speak her mind.
Zabreth called out. Her wings and interest were starting to tire.
