Take the next left, head up the river and follow it until...
He recounted the steps he had been given by the gossiping bird, or at least, he recounted and attempted to follow the steps he could remember. They had been smattered in among the rest of the gossip and he wasn't entirely sure if the anecdotes were supposed to contain something of value. Was he supposed to recall that so and so liked their stones white or that the hippos were more receptive to a certain herb? He couldn't recall the bird mentioning he had to swim so all in all...well, he was at a bit of a loss.
Nevertheless, all he could do was follow the steps and hope that eventually he would either stumble upon the path he needed to find, or he would encounter someone who might have some further information. Alternatively, he would be more than happy for someone to point him in the direction of someone who did know, then he would be very much obliged... but so far, he hadn't encountered anyone who really seemed to be aware of who, or where his pride were.
...Suffice it to say that things were getting a touch disheartening.
