Acid Cloud Planet

Welcome to Octavia, where it snows metal and rains sulfuric acid. Naturally nothing lives on it's surface, however below ground is a massive mining colony. Octavia's crust is full of rare and expensive minerals and metals who's worth is far greater than the cost of trying to mine the planet. All who work here are paid extremely well for the danger. All safety protocols are taken extremely seriously and the slightest infraction could lead to fines, incarceration or deportation.

One of the best paying and most dangerous jobs is surface maintenance. Hanger doors to allow ship into the under ground colony must be repainted after major storms in case the protective layer has been chipped by debris. They also need to maintain the ventilation equipment on the surface. Unfortunately since surface suits need to be flexible, unlike the doors, the best Genesis has been able to offer is two hours before the sulfuric acid will eat through the suits and undoubtedly cause horrible agony to the person inside as they are melted alive.

Other jobs include mining jobs such as drilling, smelting and transportation of the raw materials. Hydroponics which provide oxygen, food, water and organic waste disposal. Construction and maintenance of the under ground colony. There is a hospital wing with several doctors and several other jobs most regular cities would have.

Ships entering and leaving Octavia must also be coated in a similar paint as the doors, especially cargo ships that visit Octavia repeatably to transport materials. They enter and leave through a decontamination chamber, where arriving ships are immediately washed down and the air exchanged before crew are allowed to disembark. Ships are not allowed to arrive or leave during a storm as it is imperative the hanger doors remain shut.
