⤷XXXXX Jay walked outside the gym and toward the streets. He'd just finished tending to his herb garden, and had a some free time before he needed to be in the restaurant for the noon meal. Being a berry/herb gardener, he had most of the ingredients he used in the restaurant dishes close at hand, which made it much easier than buying things from the stores, although he did venture into town from time to time when he had free time. He also took deliveries of berries and herbs to different shops around town, so it gave him an excuse to leave the gym for a while.
⤷XXXXX As he walked, he took in the scenery, the smell of flowers hitting his nose in a gentle wave. This was one of the many things he loved about Cloudridge City. While it was a small town, it was home to him, and also the first stop for trainers who wished to challenge the Pluto League. Jay had applied to become gym leader here because he felt a need to give new trainers, and those that were more experienced, a different kind of challenge, one that would cause them to think differently than they normally might. This was the reason he'd taken the Island Challenges back in his home region of Alola. The way the Island Kahunas battled was different than any Gym Leader he'd met before, and he wanted to incorporate some of the things he'd learned from them into his own battle style.
⤷XXXXX As Jay walked around, he could see a number of Pokemon, both those that had trainers and wild ones. There were quite a few grass and bug types that liked to frequent the area around the Gym, and he enjoyed watching them interact with each other and the people in town. Each Pokemon had a different personality, and Jay had learned that not all Pokemon had the same likes and dislikes. He'd also learned that not all Pokemon battled the same way, which was part of what made battling fun, in his opinion. Caught up in his thoughts, he didn't notice a girl riding an Arcanine heading his way, until they were right in front of him.

Kit giggled and cheered from Rensha's back, urging him to go faster. Rensha barked and sped up even more, his tail wagging in enjoyment. Kit looked over and saw a pachirisu in a tree and smirked. She pulled a berry from her bag and clicked her tongue at Rensha." You thinking what I am boy? Speed and stop, I know you are feeling this mood"Kit told her companion. Isis shook her head and shifted her position to not join the stunt. Kit stood up on Rensha's back and crouched. Rensha stopped quickly as they neared the tree just as Kit jumped, the force tossed her higher. She grabbed onto the tree's branch and pulled herself up. She sat the berry on the branch for the wild pokemon and grinned. Kit swung herself off the branch onto the street wall next to it and smirked."Ok Rensha, race you to the end of the block" Kit giggled to her arcanine. Rensha snorted at her and shook his head before taking off, leaving her espeon to cling to him. Kit ran along the wall towards the end of the block before whistling for him. Rensha slowed down just as Kit did a backflip off the wall. Rensha leapt up, catching Kit on his back. Kit grinned and rubbed the fur on his neck."Good boy, that was awesome. I love you buddy" Kit said, praising her buddy.
Kit stood up slightly, stretching to rub his ears better. Rensha made a contented sound at her finding that spot under his ear. Kit couldn't help but giggle at his puppy like behavior. Isis stood up a bit to view the street, it was then she saw the person. Isis gave a warning cry, tugging at Kit's shirt. Kit paused to glance up and squeaked."Oh s**t! Ren look out! Stop!" Kit yelled the warning. Rensha shook his head, coming back to focus. As he saw the man in front of them he skidded to a stop the best he could. Unfortunately the sudden stop sent Kit falling over his head towards the man. Kit gasped, she was going to crash into him. Rensha stretched forward and caught her belt in his teeth, barely stopping her from flying into the man.Kit blinked a few times, her blue eyes wide in surprise." Eh... heh... H-hello there... N-nice day...."

⤷XXXXX Jay heard a slight commotion nearby, but didn't register that it was coming toward him until he heard a female voice yelling for someone to stop. Turning, he saw an Arcanine hurtling toward him, skidding to a stop just before running into him. This action, however, sent the girl on the Pokemon's back flying over the fire-type's head, though the Arcanine grabbed the girl's belt before she could crash into Jay. The grass-type Gym leader smiled at the surprise in the girl's eyes as she looked at him.
⤷XXXXX"Hello, miss," he said. "I trust you're not injured?" He wondered what had happened a few moments before, but didn't ask. Instead, he took a couple of poffins he'd made, then handed them to the girl. "Here, these are for your Pokemon," he said. "One is made for Fire types, and the other for Psychic." In addition to running a berry/herb garden and a restaurant, Jay had a knack for making poffins, which was something he'd picked up when he was in the Sinnoh region.

Kit stared at the person they had nearly run over in surprise. Most people would have been yelling by now, it was what she was used to by now. Of course Kit would never admit this was a common occurrence with her and her daredevil stunts. She tilts her head for a moment, trying to figure his angle out. Isis sighed and peeked out from a top Rensha. They were all surprised he wasn’t yelling, no he had smiled at it. When he asked if she was alright she nodded, still not sure what to think of the man.
Kit tilted her head a bit at him as he handed her the poffins. She had nearly ran him over and he was giving her poffins? Kit shook her head and sighed.“Uh yeah… I am fine. Rensha put me down please!” Kit answered and then scowled at her pokémon. Rensha gently set her down and snorted a bit before sniffing her to check her. Kit scowled and playfully pushed his face away with a laugh. Isis leapt over Rensha’s head and onto Kit’s shoulder.” Ok ok, I am fine ok! You guys want a treat? Thanks, they love poffins… ” Kit said with a grin. She inspected the poffins before tossing the fire type one up into the air. Rensha stood up on his hind legs and snatched it out of the air before landing and wagging his tail. Kit held the psychic one up for Isis to eat out of her hand. Both pokémon expressed their thanks as they gobbled them down. Kit shook her head a bit before looking back at him.” Thanks, sorry about almost landing on you. We were playing around. I am Kit by the way. This is Isis, and this big boy is my Rensha” Kit introduced before rubbing under Rensha’s chin, ruffling the fur there and on the sides of his face. Rensha let his tongue hand out and made a happy sound. Kit gave him a peck on the nose before offering wiping her hand off on her shirt and offering her hand to shake. Her free hand reached up to scratch isis under the chin. ”don’t worry… just wiped off some shedded fur. No drool.”

⤷XXXXXJay could tell the young girl didn't quite know what to make of him, though he didn't mention it. When he saw an Espeon jump onto her shoulder, he smiled. Eeveelutions were one Pokemon he'd always loved, since there were so many of them. "I'm glad to hear you weren't injured," he said, offering her a friendly smile. He was different from most people, in that he wasn't one to hold a grudge, no matter what might happen to him.
⤷XXXXX When the girl introduced herself as Kit, and her Pokemon as Isis and Rensha, Jay smiled, taking the offered hand and shaking it firmly. "It's alright, it is that time of year, isn't it?" he said. "My name is Jay. I came out here because I like watching the different Pokemon around here interact with each other and with people. It's one of the beauties that nature provides us." He smiled a bit, then spoke again. "So what brings you to Cloudridge City, Kit?" he asked. Before he could say anything else, he felt something latch onto his head, and he looked up and smiled when he saw Flutter, his Butterfree, sitting on his head. "Kit, this is Flutter," he said. "She's a big help around the restaurant and the garden I tend to."

Kit shook his hand before smirking a little, waving her hand a bit.” Psh I am nearly indestructible. We do this all the time don’t we boy. I could stand on his back while he runs with no issues at all. We just love running”Kit told him. Rensha barked his agreement and wagged his tail. Isis hoped down and shrugged, adding her own comments. Kit rolled her eyes at her partner. ”Hey now, I have never broken anything thank you, so there. I have mastered this. Hmph”Kit huffed at her partner. Kit turned her attention back to Jay and nodded. She glanced around them with a soft smile. ” It is pretty here, not as pretty as back home but nice. Every region seems to have a magic all its own….especially when it comes to the pokémon. Sometimes I like to leave food out and just watch what comes out, maybe sketch them… take a photo. ”Kit agrees before looking back to him as he asked why she was in the city. Before she could answer a butterfree landed on him, making her let out an aww. Isis and Rensha greeted the butterfree.”Aww what a cutie. Hello there Flutter. My oldest sis has a butterfree. She loves bug types, she runs a garden back home. Well a community garden, berry garden with a shop she sells or gives them away along with flowers… So kind of a giant everything grows there garden with a shop. Right rambled eh-he. I am here to challenge the gym actually. I er We were running over there before the uh.. near crash thing. ” Kit explains before shaking her head a bit. She did not want to think to much about her sister, she was trying to be independent from her family.”Anyway, so you run a restaurant garden? That must be fun…”

⤷XXXXXJay smiled when Kit smirked before saying she was nearly indestructible, and that she and her Pokemon loved running. He could see the honesty in her eyes when she mentioned each region having a magic all its own, especially when it came to Pokemon. "I do that a lot at the garden," he said. "It's an indoor herb/berry garden, but it's got a large door to the outside, so that wild Pokemon can come in and enjoy their fill of berries. Every now and then, a wild Pokemon will decide to stay for a while before moving on, so I leave the door open most of the time."
⤷XXXXX Jay smiled when Kit greeted Flutter, and the Butterfree moved from Jay's head to Kit's, letting out a soft 'free' of happiness. The Butterfly Pokemon liked it when people complimented her, and had a habit of taking a liking to some of his challengers. "It's nice that your sister is able to do something like that," he said, watching the interaction between Kit, Flutter, and Kit's Pokemon. When Kit mentioned running a restaurant garden must be fun, he nodded. "It's a challenge that keeps me on my toes most of the time, that's for sure," he said. "I actually own the restaurant and garden, so most of the ingredients that I use in the dishes at the restaurant are taken from the garden. Of course, customers are always welcome to take any berries or herbs they like, along with their meals."
⤷XXXXX When Kit mentioned she was there to challenge the Gym, he couldn't help smiling just a bit. "So you want to challenge the Gym?" he said. "I think I can help you out there. If you'd like, I'll take you there now."So Kit is my first challenger for a while, he thought. She's got an Arcanine and an Espeon, but I'm not sure about the rest of her team. This should be an interesting match.
