Backstory
Raia always thought she was a cache stone, she had no particular reason to believe otherwise after all. As a freshling she had an interest in acting and music, and even learned how to play the violin. If it hadn't been for her interest in science and alchemy many would have thought she was mis-housed.
It wasn't until she was a junior and out at the movies with her friends that one mentioned that she looked a lot like the lead actress in the movie they'd seen. Raia shrugged it off. Had to be a coincidence, right? People sometimes resemble other people all the time. However her friends continued to pester her, going so far as to call her by the actresses name that led Raia to investigating her origins, starting with the caretaker she'd associated most with as a child.
She was shocked to discover that no, she wasn't a cache child and that she'd been dropped off by a woman, who had refused to answer many questions, and had merely stated that she was to be called Raia. This led Raia to investigate the imbuement records in Asphodel since there would most likely have to be a record somewhere of her stone being purchased, imbued and awoken. What she found though...
Her mother
is the actress, but the name of the other partner is someone of high standing and married...but not to her mother. Her name is supposed to be Amaraia. She's also supposed to be dead.
Unsure of why and how any of this came about, Raia dropped all interest in acting and music, and instead decided to focus on her more scientific pursuits like alchemy, fearing what would happen if someone discovered she was still alive, and following in the footsteps of her mother would most definitely get her noticed. She's never told anyone what she discovered, and just shrugs it off as coincidence when her friends bring it up. Best not to risk it right? She's supposed to be dead after all...
The one thing she can't hide though, is that she suffers from a rare genetic condition, passed down from her father, that once she opened the pathways in her brain to allow the usage of magic, her body doesn't know when to turn them off, causing her to overcharge. The only solutions are for her to never use magic, unacceptable to her, or use her abilities until the point of exhaustion so that her body shuts down. As a result Raia often stockpiles her magic based assignments to do all at once so that she can use as much power as she can and therefore attempt to avoid overcharging. She can however be "siphoned" off by other magic users, but they must have a similar attunement to Raia's or else they receive a nasty shock from her if she's approaching overcharge status. Those that can touch her though, will often find their abilities temporarily enhanced by her, even if they had no aptitude previously.
