Quote:

The Awakening Chamber:

Nestled deep within the roots of the Great Tree, an open chamber exists. The Weaver seems to see this room as an ideal place for those new to the world to wake. It is still, dry, and dark, save for the dim light provided by florescent fungi. The thunder of the waterfall outside is muted to a distant susurration, like wind

The roots of the Tree tightly encompass the room, providing only one easy outlet: a winding path through the Labyrinth. You can find your way following the steadily building sound of water until you emerge outside, at the base of the Great Tree.

OOC: In the future, colony member will stand watch in the Chamber to help guide new members outside. Pelts and additional decorations can be added to make the Chamber more welcoming. For now, it's all dry soil, fungi, roots, and dry, dead leaves.

If your character arrives after the initial Awakening, feel free to rp them waking and reacting. Quote one of the Colony members if you want some interaction, or just rp your character following the path outside!

From Nothing to Something. The change should have been obvious, but she almost didn't notice at first. Relaxed, the dark and distant hushing noise almost sent her to sleep. It was the unfamiliar pulse of light that finally focused her drifting attention.

Ears twitched, and then perked up, followed somewhat wobbly by her head.

"Wha-" she uttered, blinking as her dark-adjusted eyes took in her surroundings.

The darkness, it was comfortable and nearly soothing. Then it was like everything was turned on at once. A muted sound reached the small ones ears causing them to flick. The different scents which were around them wafted through the air tickling her nose. It wiggled momentarily before tiny white eyes opened. Confusion crossed the newly awakens face, it was dark, but not like the dark in which she had awoken from. Movement around her caused her ears to flick in that direction.

Curiosity took her, fidgety she lifted her head in the direction of the movement. Was it another like herself? Then the other made a noise, could she do that too? Muzzle wiggling she tried, but the only thing that came out was a bit of a grunt. Determined she lifted herself up a bit higher, maybe this would work. She tried again forcing her mouth open "Uh." was all that came out this time. Well it was something, wasn't it?

Moist damp, and comfortable darkness, something warm and soft pressing against her side. Something musty filled the air like protective arms, and there was a sensation of presence that filled the space. There was no sensation of time in this place, nor any understanding of the concept. It was merely drifting, drifting, with nowhere to go and nowhen to be.

But light began to dance at the eyelids, showing her that there was more than merely darkness. That there was something else in this world, and that things could be different. She opened her mismatched eyes to blink at the darkness. The light hurt her eyes, but she was seeing things for the first time, and they fascinated her from the start.

There was a susurrus here, breezes all moving together, as though through some narrow apertures and then back out again. Something heavy--but not unpleasantly so--was flopped over the top of her, pressing her down. Through the connection, she could feel a steady rhythm. It was comforting, and she thought she could hear it again in her ears. She flicked those soft appendages to pick up other sounds--occasional rough patches in the murmur, the distant sound of something rushing, rushing, rushing on, occasional dark, deep noises from above, and even tinkling, chiming sounds from elsewhere. And just as light entered the space, there was the sound of a voice--the first one she had ever seen. She lazily opened her eyes to see another B'alam, pale and dark. Her lips went upwards in a happy feeling as she watched the other and listened for more sounds.

The very first sensation that overcame him was sound. He could hear the soft purr of something rushing outside and his ears turned at a sluggish pace to follow the movements of where the sound went. All of a sudden he became aware that he was lying, resting against something, and the sensation of touch came to him in a second. Then the earthy scents flooded his nose and as he gave a few sniffs it became clear that other warm bodies were occupying this area.

Finally, his curiosity won him over and he opened his tired eyes with a haze of sleep tugging at them. He looked over himself, his legs, his coat, his tail, and noted that he appeared to be lying against a root to something, though he no idea what.

Turning to examine the others he watched as a few tried to speak, and offered a yawn to add to the collection of new sounds everyone was beginning to make.

Nestled in the darkness, she was comfortable and relaxed. It was so simple here in the dark, there was nothing to worry about, nothing to.... What was that? Her darkness was growing lighter. Not by much, but it was noticeable. There was noise that interrupted her sweet silence, like a rushing of wind that came from a distance.

Blinking open eyes she hadn't needed before, she awoke. How strange... She could hear movement, different from the wind and yet similar. Fur, brushing against itself. She became aware of herself in that moment, of the fur covering her own body. Of the ears that twitched and flicked to catch more of the noises that were brand new to her. Of paws that wanted to feel the earth beneath them. To go and explore the world she had been born into.

Rolling onto her stomach, she gathered her legs beneath her and pushed up; a surprised squeaking yowl came from her throat as she had to focus to stay steady. Looking around at the gathering of others, she couldn't help but stare at how different they all looked. She couldn't wait to see them under the light of day. "H-hello," she croaked to all of them.

"Hello" She finally spoke back, it took her a while to form the words, but finally they made through. Becoming more aware of her surroundings Water Feather found herself moving to her four paws. Stretching her body she decided to explore the small cramped chamber they had all awakened in. Finding a hole she followed the winding path to the outside. Her ears twitched ever so lightly as she followed the path the thunder getting louder and louder.

Not soon after did she find herself outside. It took time for her eyes to adjust to the light of the outside world only to be amazed by the grand tree that she came out from under. "Guys" She called out yelling as loud as she could, trying to get over the sound of the thundering waters "You've got to see this!"

(Hope this is okay, kind of want to get this going a bit more)
