Not really. A lot of the yaoi that I have seen the men look a little to much like pre-pubescent girls and I just don't like that s**t. Its weird, but I actually get more turned on by het-hentai instead of yaoi. At least the men look like real MEN in those.
For my yaoi, I mostly just read erotic fiction. In a literary medium with no images I can imagine the men looking like whatever I want.

Not that there is a problem with them but idk) That and erotic fiction tends to go beyond the boundaries of yaoi?!? If that makes any sense And I can imagine myself as the submissive of the story easier redface

Instagerm I couldn't find any good ones tbh If you're referring to explicit yaoi Senshitibu Porunogurafu is the only real one out there. There's also a prison rape one, but I can't remember the name. If you're talking about yaoi as in just boy love, there are tons of awesome anime/manga out there. Junjou Romantica, FAKE, Gravitation, Love Stage, and Sukisho are my personal favorites. Effeminate characters are always going to be a part of yaoi culture because it's a part of gay culture. Some men are effeminate, and I think those against it need to seriously get over it. An effeminate man is still a man regardless of how masculine he is. I think it's insulting to suggest otherwise.

Nobody is saying effeminate men shouldn't be included in gay culture. But porn isn't about gay culture, its about personal gratification and neither reality nor social justice factor into that. There's nothing wrong with someone saying "I don't like porn with effeminate men in it" no more than there's anything wrong with a straight man saying I don't like porn that had chicks with tiny tithes." That's not what you're into. Its not what gets you off. Don't watch porn that includes that one thing. Its not anything that a person has to "get over". People can't help being turned on by what they're turned on by. Sexuality is not a choice and fetishes and fantasies are part of sexuality. Now, on the subject of shonnen-ai (boys love), that is a different subject entirely. Of course there's going to be effeminate characters coming out the wazoo in those because its part of the genre.

This is where the confusion was coming in. I thought we were discussing Yaoi, not gay hentai. Another thing is I was stating my opinion. I didn't quote anybody for a reason, and that's because I was speaking in general.

Same plots, just different ridiculous hair.

The Lonely Taurus Boku No Pico. Your welcome. rolleyes Been there, done that. Like Karmerruk said, it concerns very young boys... Like my brothers age...no thx.
Yaoi reading/watching days are pretty much over. I stopped really paying it any mind at 17 or so when I started uni. I'm 23 now so my tastes have matured a bit.
...just realized I've been on this site for 10 years.

Whenever I can't find anything to watch I just go to tumblr or deviantart. There are a lot of great artists there who can get pretty kinky with capturing the moment wink wink

Karmerruk Shōnen ai refers to strong platonic relationships between pubescent or pre-pubescent boys. Yaoi is romantic love between two males in anime, and typically non-sexual. Hentai is anime porn, and since there aren't really many gay hentai (aside from the one I mentioned) there isn't a separate term for the gay variety, that I know of. This is where the confusion was coming in. I thought we were discussing Yaoi, not gay hentai. Another thing is I was stating my opinion. I feel like shonen ai/shounen ai nowadays encompasses romantic love between two males in anime/ manga nowadays. When reading shounen ai mangas or mangas tagged with it, it ususally has some romantic aspects while as yaoi ranges through more of the graphic spectrum of the romance. It's not as bad as hentai though *shrug* This is what i've noticed and read online. it's all too confusing.

It's probably because people have started blending it all together, but I've never seen Yaoi put on the same level as hentai. Essentially yaoi is just romance between two men. It's generally written by female authors for female readers. Bara is another genre written by gay men for gay men, and I guess it's supposed to be more "masculine." I think bara is more sexually charged, so that's probably what gets mistaken for yaoi, but they are separate while being the same. Yeah, it can get pretty confusing. Then again, I've been into anime/manga for over twelve years now. lol sweatdrop

Bromance-- pretty much like what you said and because of doujin artists, they took that concept and romanticized them and the romantic version of it became more popular and became the "norm" i guess? Though Yaoi is romance between two men i agree. I think people use Yaoi as an umbrella term that encompasses the general boys love field even the more detailed love scenarios. As for bara.. thats just a different genre that people need to get away from yaoi. Bara is mostly sexually charged and the target audience is different. I will agree on you that the whole terms and whatnot are confusing xD I've been reading manga for only 10 years but i only became more aware of the nuances between (because i had to make a presentation on Boys love for my anime club haha).
