16. Passions of War

The rain beat down on her half striped body, sticking her hair and what remained of her blood covered uniform to odd placed on her exposed form. The blood was running in rivulets down the exposed marks on her arms, legs and torso, mixing with the heavy stream of water and staining her pristine white attire. Behind her, what appeared to be blood and feathers left a slowly disappearing trail. Breathing coming in gasps as she leaped the gap between two buildings. Foot slipping on the wet edge, her body went down hard. The force of the hit caused the woman’s lip to split open and mix even more blood than she already was losing. But it didn’t matter. She did not have time to rest. If those in pursuit of her caught up, none of it would matter. As she scrambled back to her feet, the woman jumped from the place just a moment before the cracking sound of a whip hit the location.

Two shadowed forms appeared as if from thin air on the ledge the raven haired woman had just jumped from. Even in the rain, she could make out their grins as they watched her struggle back to her feet. She had to keep moving….keep running….

Eternal Sailor Phact, the Senshi of Doves, was running for her life.

“How cute… she thinks she can get away.” The tall, long green haired negaverse agent hummed in amusement. “You cut her off over…”

“Shut up Linx. You are not my superior, I know what needs to be done and I sure as hell don’t need your help to do it.” Sunstone’s eyes narrowed at him in annoyance. If it wasn’t for the stupid one senshi one agent rule she would have left him back in the Rift. “The only reason you’re here is because Stibnite was needed for another mission.” As it stood the two of them had a high-ranking track record for bringing in stray members of the resistance for interrogation, this joker beside her was only average.

“Stupid b***h…” He muttered under his breath. Put off by her attitude Linx crossed his arms over his chest like a stubborn child. “And you wonder why nobody volunteered to patrol with you.”

“Sword of Dispelling” Before her, a delicate sword handle appeared which she grabbed ahold of with one hand. From the hilt an ethereal blade appeared and after a quick salute Sunstone stepped off the ledge only to disappear before hitting the ground.

Topaz colored eyes bore holes into the ground where she stood only a second ago, you wouldn’t… A final thought before he too teleported in the direction the raven haired senshi fled just before her signature blinked out of range.

Had Phact heard all the banter behind her, she might have considered fate could have been on her side that moment. However, based upon earlier encounters, that would have been false hope alone.

She had managed to get some distance between them. It wasn’t much but she didn’t know what else to do. Power down? That would have been foolish. Sure they would have lost her aura but the bleeding would have given it away without even looking! ”Damnit…” She hissed, sliding across the roof of the next building. It was wet so a missed step and she was on a slip-n-slide.

Across the roof only to stop when she hit the glass top of an office atrium For a moment she sat, then crack. The ceiling gave way and she dropped, glass and all, onto the atrium floor below.

The look of surprise on the senshi’s face was priceless, too bad Sunstone was still annoyed by her partner to have even cracked a smile.

From the adjacent rooftop, the Senshi of Swordplay walked forward only to teleport mid step. Twenty seconds of magic remained till the sword in her hand would disappear, just enough time to shut the spy up.

Crumpled on the ground, Phact’s body appeared to be a mess of fabric and glass. She was hurting and the will to get up and keep going was fleeting. She wanted to stay there, to close her eyes and rest. Fate had other plans.

The resounding echo of heeled boots could be heard as the corrupt made her approach, one methodical step after another. Glass shards shattered and cracked as she stepped on the broken pieces making a grinding sound against the polished acid stained concrete floor. “Hmm, you certainly know how to make quite the entrance.” The corrupt senshi purred while surveying the surrounding damage.

The sound of the boots coming towards her made her muscles tense. Visibly, the pile that was Sailor Phact seemed to tighten as a voice echoed in the empty atrium.

“Definitely made quite the mess,” the corrupt then added with mock amusement. Stopping two feet from the bleeding dove sunset colored eyes narrowed and all humor was pushed aside. “I strongly suggest you stay down.” It was more of a promise of force should she struggle than a simple request.

One heeled boot came to press against Phacts wrist to pin it down as the ethereal blade made its descent, finding its scheathe in the woman's chest.

Rain beat down on them making this one heck of a mess but still, Phact found she did not even have the strength to move.

To even lift her head.

But she did have the will to scream as the heel found her wrist. Phact did not know if it was the power being drained from her body of the physical shoe pinning her to the ground that made her do it but she cried out.

Finally, she rolled to her side, arm still pinned to look up at the woman who had been after her. “What do you want….”

“What I want is of little consequence. Though compliance would be high on the list.”

Before she could continue an eerie laugh echoed into the otherwise still room. “Now where would the fun be in that if she just gave up? Come now little senshi.” He cooed while squatting beside her, crowding near in an uncomfortable manner with a smile that spoke volumes of lecherous thoughts or promises of pain. “Why don’t we have some fun.”

“We’re not here to play games.” Sunstone’s lips pursed into a thin line. Though she remained focused on Phact it was clear the comment was directed at the agent. “Kind of hard when your better has me pinned to the ground.” Phact winced trying to get the words out. “I don’t think she wants you to play.”

“I don’t give a ******** what she wants or doesn’t want.” Linx smiled coyly.

Cupping the Eternal Senshi’s cheek with one hand he pressed his thumb harshly against a split in her lower lip holding her gaze with his own. Rocking forward so he sat on his knees, he grabbed a fistfull of raven locks and lift her head so he could whisper harsh words into her ear. “Make no mistake… I don’t take orders from her.”

The hand which rested against the side of her cheek moved in a southerly direction, raking nails along the length of her neck till his palm rested against her chest. It remained there, a tease, for several seconds till he curled his fingers slowly and in doing so he brushed against her precious starseed. Hungry eyes looked down at her with an amount of excitement and anticipation, hoping to hear the sweet sound of her screams, daring her to struggle against him.

Knowing all too well where this was going and where that wandering hand would soon travel, Sunstone took advantage of his distraction and leaned over to pick up a large shard of glass to which she pressed into the senshi’s palm before lifting her foot off the Eternal Senshi’s wrist. “Don’t miss…” Sunstone warned before taking a step back.

An agent who refused to obey simple instructions had no place in the negaverse and while his death would be her fault entirely, Linx’s blood wouldn’t be on her hands. That is, so long as he didn’t teleport away like the coward she knew he was.

Phact had forgotten to breath.

Her body froze at his crazed man’s touch and it was only the realization that she could move her wrist that brought her out of the shock. He was playing with her. Attempting to make it very clear to her that she was nothing to him and that her life could be ended in a moments notice. All he had to do was sink his hand into her chest an…

“No!” Phact’s shaking voice cried out. With the sudden appearance of the broken glass in her hand, the senshi of doves felt her flesh bite into the jagged edges. Even wounded and in pain, she found the will to strike forward...the glass going straight into the male’s chest.

Thoughts slipped from her mind as she felt warm liquid flow over her hands making the glass slick. She couldn’t hold on and had to let go but only after giving it one more hard push.

Falling back, the white senshi looked on in horror.

Linx’s eyes widened in horror filled shock. “You b***h” he seethed through clenched teeth; though it was unclear exactly who he was referring to.

His hand withdrew from her chest out of instinct to apply pressure to the wound and they he tried to stymie the flow, blood seeped freely between his fingers. All around him his world swooned as blackness blurred the edges of his vision.

A cough erupted from him, splattering her uniform staining what white remained a brilliant red hue.

The hand which held her other arm still loosened and in place of the surprised look, his expression turned terrifyingly dark. “I will devour your starseed for what you just did.” He laughed mockingly. Finding humor in the irony that her death will be what sustains his own. Like before he placed his hand against her chest as another fit of coughs racked his body and in the same motion he leaned forward, grasping hold of her seed.

Time, however, was not on his side, nor was the corrupt idly standing by watching the scene play out, and as his hand withdrew with the intent of following through with his words topaz colored eyes rolled backwards and his body fell limp onto the side with the shard protruding from his lifeless form

“Hmm, well that went better than expected.” Sunstone mused. “Two birds with one stone; or i guess in this case, piece of glass.”

Leaning over the brunet pried the brilliant pure starseed from his warm grasp marveling at the color for several seconds before returning it to the senshi he had taken it from. “We’re not done with you quite yet.”

Sunstone placed one hand on each body then, using the blessed gift granted to her by the negaverse, she teleported to the holding cell to await further instruction on how to proceed with the Senshi of Doves.
