Song Yi Kim : Kyle's Station of Reflection
HP: 100/100 | ATK: 10 | DEF: 10

A very strong urge to give a great, big, toothy smile spread through Song during the silence. The quiet that followed the storm of Kyle's words felt all too much like the obligatory silence her friends sometimes gave her after she said something stupid, usually intentionally. Now, this particular time, Song didn't mean to say something funny or idiotic, but she knew that what she had said with all careful earnestness was sort of… stupid and idiotic. After all, she wouldn't deny her method of choosing a path was very not smart. However, the pressure of keeping up first impressions while in a conversation with a stranger won over the reckless impulse and Song remained not acting weird. Well, aside from her continued hiccups, that is.

Once Kyle began speaking, he would find in Song an attentive student. The lecture he delivered didn't quite take long enough for her to get distracted. Still hiccupping, Song turned to face Kyle with a hand over her mouth as she listened to his explanation. she thought, The way the information was delivered and the confidence behind the words reminded Song of someone, much like the voice had. She still could not quite figure out who this was, or rather, she had a few ideas, but she didn't have the confidence to begin a game of 21 questions, not when she wasn't even sure if she actually knew this guy because for all she knew, her mind could be playing tricks on her.

Well, assuming this unknown being was someone she knew, Song knew few who were KH fans to the extent this man's knowledge proved him to be. Most she knew of were part of this one guild, and in that guild, there were only so many guys. Banshee was immediately not possible. Song remembered seeing pictures of Banshee. Plus, she doubted he was capable of scaring even an ant. Heck, if she remembered correctly, he even bothered to save ants that had wandered into his room. Yeah, no, Banshee couldn't possibly be this intimidating. Then that left, Rhiko, Song remembered, had a surprisingly soft and polite voice, so he was a no-go. At least she was pretty sure that she was attributing the correct voice to Rhiko. As for the rest, her spotty memory failed to bring up their voices in time.

Before Song could settle on one of the remaining options, the silence of the all too short pause between the first part of Kyle's lecture and the second had ended. Most of what he said Song knew already, even if she had failed to recall the information during the crucial moment of decision. Well, except the part about just how bad Riku was. She knew Riku was on the wrong side in KHI, but having never played KHI personally, she had assumed that he was at least not bad enough to almost kill a kid. When Kyle introduced that tidbit of information, it garnered the appropriate reaction of wide eyes from Song.
For all Song's attentive listening, though, she failed to hear Kyle's muttering. It was just loud enough to barely hear, which meant that Song, who often had trouble making out words, could hear that Kyle meant to say something but not make out what it was he had said. She hesitated to ask Kyle to repeat himself, trying to first piece together what he said through context clues and what few distinct phonemes she could make out, so by the time she gave up and was about to ask Kyle to repeat himself, the moment had been lost. Kyle had moved the conversation over to another topic.

This time, Song was questioned once more, and between hiccups, she answered, "No, I haven't. I'm pretty sure you've been to your own but I fell," a hand initially pointed up before swapping to down and finally ending in both hands alternating between up and down in an uncertain dance, "off of the platform with the weapon choices," her hands stopped being weird and returned to hugging her knees, "I think this station would have been further down my path." It had hardly been a few minutes, but Song had already begun feeling comfortable talking to this potentially complete stranger. She was weird like that, paranoid about meeting new people but able to get real comfortable after only a little bit, be it a little bit of time, a little bit of an assuring tone, or a little bit of both.

Her eyes moved away from Kyle's face down to the shifting image of the station below. She hiccupped and dared to pose her own line of conversation, "Um… You know, well, you know… I've got a lot to say" "but, um, maybe can I have your name? I'm sorry if you said it already, I must have missed it or something." Her eyes did not rise, and instead remained focused on the desert beneath her.

[ Dawn | Station of Awakening ]

The shadow narrowly avoided the kick. It bobbed around for a brief moment before going back in for another attack, very similar to the last.

[Dawn : Station of Awakening]

Dawn ducked as the Shadow proceeded to do the same attack.

"You missed!" Dawn shouted at it, "Why don't you try something new for once?"

The girl then proceeded to throw her Wand at the Heartless's head. Right after the wand, a flash went off in the fiend's face.

[Joe: Station of Reflection: Path 13]

Joe was just completely confused. So now someone he knew was here, cloaked, and talking in front of him? This dream was just getting stranger and stranger.

"OK, unless I've missed something this was my dream. Like, I fell through the ocean and picked the weapons and all of that nonsense. And now I'm having to solve this." he paused, making a wide gesture across the station around him, and then continued.

"So what, you're telling me that you've done all of this? That this is some kind of shared dream experience we're having? Because if so I am more then a little concerned."

If the man in front of him was really talking to him and not just a part of the dream, then this entire situation just got flipped on it's head.

[Joseph: Station of Reflection: Path 13]

Joseph bobbed his head from side to side, thinking over everything. "No, no, I did all that too. I dunno about shared dreams, though. I mean, I've never had one before with anyone. Continued dreams, dreams with a theme that last a week, deja vu dreams that seem to oddly predict super minor events. But never a shared dream before."

He looked at the platform a bit more. "I wonder if it matters which platform you use..." He blurted his thought out as he looked at the numbers. All the same, except for that one area that led to a chest.

"If this is a shared dream, it's a hell of a weird one. But the next question is 'What do we do now?'" It's not like he had any idea. He was just winging it, mainly.

[ Dawn | Station of Awakening ]

The shadow dodged Dawn's attack, but was hit by her See No Evil ability. The bright flash instantly blinded the shadow, and it stumbled back. It had a good idea of where Dawn was, though, having only recently been blinded. It jumped forward to claw at her again, jumping high enough to possibly hit her face.

[Dawn : Station of Awakening]

Dawn should of been ready when the Heartless repeated it's same attack. However, she didn't move in time and ended taking a hard on blow by it's attack. She held her chest as she went to her knees. In that moment, she had her wand back in her free hand and swung it at the Shadow as it danced in front of her.

Through the pain, Dawn could feel a warm energy building inside of her.

The shadow was whapped upside the head, but the blow skidded of the side, preventing the troublesome creature from taking any damage. Persistently, it attacked again, trying to circle around and hit her from behind.

Having secured herself in the knowledge that nothing tangible was taken, Ahria turned to face the path ahead. However, the path seemed to lead back to the same platform. But she had no time to be frustrated when there were other people that seemed to fade in and out of view. She watched as some cried in frustration when forced to make the same decision she did, and others stepped forward with no hesitation.

Each time she would call out to them, a soft plea for attention or recognition. The most recent being a pair, one man and a woman. She stepped past her number, hoping that maybe this time she wouldn't be forced to go alone.

"Hello?.. Can you hear me?"

[Dawn : Station of Awakening]

As the last attack, the Shadow was able to hit Dawn. This time it managed to do more damage.

"You know... I am really getting tired," she breathed glaring at the little shadow, "Of you..."

At that moment an explosion erupted around the shadow.

[ Kyle : Station of Reflection ]

The widened eyes of shock were the first change in her that he could note—at least while speaking—and it did little to help her case; he could only assume the shock was caused by what he'd said at the time, which was about Riku's particularly dark actions. Why shock? Did she really not know? That would mean she hadn't ever played Kingdom Hearts (at least, the first one); and yet, her previous words had given him the indication that she was familiar enough with the series to use her knowledge of it's lore as a guide. How can you be comfortable enough in your decisions—especially about something with such vast potential consequences as a decision between light, twilight, and darkness—if you haven't even played the first game?

Another option was simply that she'd forgotten. After all, Kingdom Hearts had been out for a decade—more than a decade...

Oof. Nostalgia. Don't need that right, chest.

So, if she'd only played it once, that detail might have been foggy; if she'd played most of the games, it might not have even registered in the top ten things to think about for that choice. Number one, as so many people clung to in their lovely fanfiction worlds, was likely Mickey's speech to Xemnas at the end of Two—they did not hate the darkness, they were simply afraid of it, to which Riku tacks on that the fear was based on those who lurked within. Such an adored line, and so often misunderstood.

They never said darkness wasn't corruptive.

Of course, there was the third option that she was lying and she was just shocked he knew about it, and had to come up with a cover story. He briefly thought about it, and mentally shrugged it off. Song didn't seem the type to be quite that malicious or scheming.

As she spoke up, he craned his head slightly to face her, but not entirely. From the weapon station? That explained the Shadow. Still, how peculiar, to fall down, but up...

… and to fall into someone who was already ahead of the step you were on.

He turned his gaze to the place where the large, glowing eight had once hovered. The thought crossed his mind, and then it stayed. The other options, after all, had all been incomplete paths, except the later ones that he'd yet to check. He had heavy doubts that they'd be any different, but he'd walk up and hear them out all the same.

Maybe I'm not trapped after all.

Realizing he hadn't responded after almost half a minute, he rewound the conversation and digested what she had to say.

”You didn't miss it. I didn't give it,” he said, still looking at the eight's vacant spot. That was amusing; did people think that line actually worked? Eh, couldn't fault her for trying. He paused; should he give her his actual name? She'd almost surely recognize him immediately. If she was tending toward darkness, would it be wise for her to know him? Who knew what power names had; worse, if they got out and back to the real world, she'd know how to find him, how to see where he lived—they all already knew that he lived in Louisiana. Was his family at risk? Well, going off the first game, they were at risk regardless of anyone else—unless... was she the one to open the door? Earth's door?

I'm over-thinking this.

”For what it's worth, it's Kyle,” he said. With little more to add, he turned, starting to walk toward the ethereal glowing ones, the giant Eleven. What would it have to say? And would it, he wondered, be heard by Song as well? “If you hear a choice, don't respond for me. I don't know how you being here will affect my station's options.”

Song Yi Kim : Kyle's Station of Reflection
HP: 100/100 | ATK: 10 | DEF: 10

The hiccups continued, muffled beneath silent lips. At the start, Song's eyes remained locked with the shifting sands displayed on the platform beneath her. Various desert vistas passed by her eyes, and each passing image felt like it was drawing her in deeper and deeper.

Kyle's voice snapped Song's drifting attention back to reality. Her eyes remained focused on the very interesting station, but she was listening to what the familiar voice said. Did Song actually think she had missed Kyle's name? Actually, she wasn't willing to say for sure. She had little faith in her memory and her hearing. All she knew for sure was,

It wasn't until Song heard the familiar name that her head jerked up. her head mentally screamed as she struggled to match the name to the face. Of course, that was a complete failure. She didn't remember ever seeing a picture of Kyle. However, matching the name to the voice was a complete success,

Her face was filled completely by a dumbfounded expression. The shock shown at the mention of the severity of Riku's evilness was just the reaction Song showed when she was mildly surprised. This right here. This expression currently on her face that was several magnitudes more severe than what she showed before was her reaction when her mind was completely blown and completely happy at the same time, not delusional for thinking the voice sounded familiar AND now I'm not with a stranger anymore.>

There was a moment of silence, during which Kyle would just barely manage to squeeze through his last words, before Song erupted into a loud cheer, "KYLE!" without thinking. She raised both arms into the air in celebration. Screw verifying if this was the Kyle she was thinking of. No rude hiccup took advantage of her open mouth to interrupt the moment. It appeared that this time the hiccupping was mercifully short, having stopped sometime between this moment and when Kyle verified that he had not said his name before.

"KYLE KYLE KYLE KYLE KYLE," Song's arms were down in her lap again, she was sitting in a cross-legged position she found more comfortable than however she was sitting before, and her head bounced with each repetition of Kyle's name. Midway through, the repeating of Kyle's name had become as much an expression of Song's overwhelming relief and excitement at meeting someone she knew as it was Song not knowing what else to say but also not wanting to shut up like a normal person so that Kyle would be able to think. Excitement had pushed logic and other thoughts, like questioning if this Kyle was really the Kyle she knew and confusion over why Kyle had acted so coldly to her when he knew who she was, to the sidelines.

After the fifth or sixth repetition of the name, though, Song did shut up with a Rammus-like, "Okay," and started to think about what was happening on this station. Again, Song found herself unable to remember any relevant information, . Although, it didn't appear that it would matter to her if she knew anyways because Kyle seemed to want her to not do anything while she was here.

was how Song interpreted Kyle's demand that she not respond, She watched quietly as he focused on the ring of glowing numbers, propping up an arm so she could rest her head in a hand. Now that she had calmed a little, she was content with just spectating and thinking,

As Kyle figured out the numbers that Song assumed she wasn't allowed to go near, Song sat in the center of the station and pondered on her own thoughts and actions. Her spontaneous emotional high passing, the silliness of what she had just did was slowly sinking into Song. As usual, regrets were settling. She realized, but she also thought, Yes, considering everything wrong Song had managed to accomplish, she had to say it was very possible Kyle could hold a grudge against her, Now that Song was practically certain this was Kyle, she knew that he must have detected whatever stupidity was certainly in her Kingdom Hearts talk.

Kagetsukiko

Ahria was saddened that yet more seemed to ignore her... The male seemed to say something to the other, almost angry, it seemed, but then he turned to one of the other numbers and faded from view. The girl called out to him in what looked at first to be excitement, but then became sadness. The oddest thing was that their voices were muffled in a way that made it impossible to tell exactly what was being said.

Ahria called to the sad girl one last time. Hoping against hope that she could at least reach one person.
