This is a MAJOR WIP of mine. Critique is greatly welcomed. I've been working on the design as part of my new line of combat ships. Specifications are subject to change. Please do not copy-patse/repost this anywhere without my permission or rob my design. This is just for reference for others. The way the jump and ion technology works (For the most part) isn't based off of real world physics. The technology design is based off of a conglomeration of Halo and Star Wars Lore and ideas, I owe much credit to those works. Forgive me if I don't remember my own acronyms.

〖Armament Specifications〗

4x Type-67 Point-Defense Autocannons: Point-Defense Guns are generally not used to engage ships in ship-to-ship combat, but instead meant to take out smaller threats like fighters, boarding craft or missiles to prevent (or at least lessen) the damage inflicted.

Force of Projectile: Between 30-40 kilojoules
Rate of Fire: 1000 rds/m


2x Type-91 Heavy Ion Cannons:The ion particles seriously interfere with the operation of electronics and computer systems, shorting circuits and often disabling them outright, in much the same manner as an electromagnetic pulse. The actual physical damage would sometimes result in fused joints on machines, due to the heat produced. When the ion particles are negatively charged, the resulting impact can cause a ship to lose power outright, subduing them for boarding. The same is true for shielding.

Rate of Fire: 1 projectile/5 seconds


6x Type-23 Missile Pods: The T-43 is a ship to ship laser guided missile. The missiles can be set to flak-airburst for anti-aircraft purposes or EXPL-Hull for actively attacking enemy starcraft. Each pod contains approximately fifty missiles

〖Sublight and Sub-Space Drive Specifications〗

2x A.R.X. Driveyards Type-3 Sublight Ion Drive:
Role: Primary Sublight Drive
Thrust: 100 Million NT Individually

The drive creates a fusion reaction that brakes down the fuel into charged particles known as ions to drive starships through space. The energy generated by the reaction creates thrust which propels the ship. Directional movement was attained by the use of lateral thrusters. The SID could operate on virtually any type of fuel; while uranium or similar heavy metals were preferred, the drive can be easily modified to accept liquid reactants, energy conversion cells, or ion-collector pods as a replacement fuel source.


1x A.R.X. Driveyards Type-567b Sub-Space Drive:
The drive functions by creating ruptures between normal space and an alternate plane known as sub-space. The engine makes ruptures by using high-power cyclic particle accelerators to generate microscopic black holes. Because of their low mass, Hawking radiation gives them a lifetime of around a nanosecond (or potentially a little longer than a whole second) before they evaporate into thermal energy. In that nanosecond, the engine manipulates them into forming a coherent rupture between normal space and the substream. The ship is then engulfed by a white aura that is effectively a wormhole.





〖Navigations, Sensors & Communications〗


TB-6078 Navigation Computer:
Navicomputers calculate data to the exact destination, the quickest and safest route to it, and the number of hyperspace jumps necessary. The computer has the ability to store hundreds of coordinates and recall all past locations that the vessel has traveled to.

Could you give a more detailed overview of what the role of the ship actually is? The fighter pilot complement I understand, but I am curious as to why it carries 50 marines.

Could you give a more detailed overview of what the role of the ship actually is? The fighter pilot complement I understand, but I am curious as to why it carries 50 marines.


The ship is designed to operate in small "Wolf Pack" Flotillas with other Corvettes and Frigates, but can be utilized to some extent large fleet operations because of obvious adavtages in speed and maneuverability. Due to the small size of the ship (roughly the length of a football field) I'd utilize it as a low atmosphere superiority ship as because of a Carrier or Destroyer's inability operate directly above cities due to their mass. The ship can be quickly positioned to provide friendly ground forces with fire support and in large groups can have total air superiority.

While I obviously don't intend for this ship to be deploying invasion-level amounts of troops, I figured that the ship should have the basic capability of launching ground teams for survey, recovery and reconnaissance.

It all looks pretty cool, although I recommend instead of laser guidance that you have both radar and magnetic detection systems, as well as potentially self guiding missiles, such as cruise missiles to some extent. Semiactive homing as well, potentially. With like, cameras. In the future, electronics will probably become cheaper, so while cruise missiles are like half a million dollars, in the future it'll be way easier to create something on that level.

Also, I'd say your M/S are off, especially for space, where ships could easily be miles apart, if not dozens of miles.

I'd recommend something like 1000 m/s for the 50mm cannon (which is similar to the improved 40mm bofors), 30,000 mph+ (13,500 m/s) for the ion blasts, and some 3000-15,000 mph (1,350-6,750 m/s) for the missiles, like with anti-satellite missiles. So, yeah, pretty neat stuff, though.
