+ Background: Francesca was born to a rich family in the Kalos region. The youngest of three daughters, she was doomed to be married off to a boy she didn't get to choose in order to advance her family's stature. Even from a young age, she knew the idea didn't appeal to her, so she rebelled against everything her family tried to teach her about being a lady. Dresses, tea parties, meowths, proper etiquette, she shunned them all. When she was fourteen years old, her eldest sister, Marianne, was married to a boy from a higher family, Timothy Windsor. Although the marriage was arranged, the two grew to like each other, and two years later, Marianne was with child. Horrified of what her sister was forced into, however, Francesca rebelled harder than ever, going as far as attempting to run away from home. But she was caught, and brought back to the mansion. Seeing that her sister would never be happy in the life their parents had chosen for them, it was Clarissa that would be her salvation. The middle sister took Francesca aside one day and told her to play along with their parents demands, but always look for an out. That out came when Clarissa was invited to the home of another rich family for a marriage interview. Volunteering to come along, Francesca pretended to go for the sake of her old sister, who had always been a bit on the shy side. When no one was paying the two girls any attention, Francesca saw her chance. She begged Clarissa to come with, but the older girl said she had to find her own happiness, just like Fran. Fran was incensed, and told her sister to just go, then, and get pregnant with the kid of some guy she didn't even like, and ran. Despite that, Clarissa covered for her little sister with suppressed tears, telling the people looking for her that she had gone to the restroom, buying the youngest girl enough time to escape.
Fran soon regretted saying such awful things to her sister, but she knew she couldn't go back. Reaching a small port town a few miles away, she sold her fancy dress for a fair amount of money, and hopped ship for somewhere no one would know her - Zatao.
+ Trivia:
- Francesca prefers to use the nickname 'Fran' to describe herself, as it seems less fancy than her actual name.
- Her interest in bug pokemon stems from the fact that her family wouldn't go near them, so she sees them as a kind of shield from people she doesn't want near her.
- Fran's favorite hobby, now that she can exercise it, is bug catching.
- She hasn't grown since she was twelve or thirteen, a fact that bugs her; she dislikes her short stature - more specifically, people making fun of her for it.
- Her greatest regret is not thanking Clarissa for helping her escape.
