I was disapointed in sonic x, mainly with the art. How could you turn something as cool as this>>> To something as dinky as this>>> ??? I just don't understand.

I really don't see what's so wrong; for the most part, the changes aren't THAT major. Though, I do have a slight qualm with how Sonic's quills are portrayed at times; mainly from the back, where he's shown possessing only three, in a bit of a triangle formation.
But other than that, I have no gripes about the style. It's still heavily influenced by the Adventure art style, despite being injected with a bit more anime flair.
Besides, Sonic X seems to be the only way to see the Chaotix in that style (was anybody else disappointed with the lack of 2D artwork for Heroes?).

To be honest, I find the SX style to be a hybrid of the pre-SA and SA styles: keeping the extra twiddly bits on the design like eye colour and greater definition, but ditching stuff like the cooler-than-thou bells and whistles on the shoes, and a so-called smile that could frighten small children. smile

Eh, its an animation, not a computer aided drawing.
Unless they want to go computer generated over the top still picture. I dont see anything wrong with it.
But then again, to me I'd just look at it and say "Sonic"...

Chris Kitmyth Eh, its an animation, not a computer aided drawing. To be fair, Chris: those're largely the same thing these days. There're very few studios left which don't use computers to colour and animate - although the line work itself is still the human touch.

*nod nod*
I was meaning more along the lines of, a still picture you can spend ages and ages on, in programs like photoshop and put in lots of different shading, filter effects and the like to enhance the still image.
If you're going to do that with an animation, its going to cost a LOT of money.

Oh, I know it looks similiar, but the soni x looks more, I dunno, chubby? dinky? That's what I mean. in SA2B, he is all mature looking, like in the first pic, but the x takes him back to the SoA days...

I personally don't find the Sonic X art all that bad. I've seen worse, trust me. The only thing I don't like to be honest is how they did Christopher and every-now-and-then the character facial expressions. That's just me, though.
Hey, at least Sonic doesn't look like he did when he first came out. Don't get me wrong, I liked how he looked. But, if they put him like that into Sonic X, you wonder when was the last time he had a good run or two. ninja
