He and a few of his pokemon had been training behind the gym, mainly Zeke, Sakki, Flora and Zue. The three pokemon he had been with the longest. His other pokemon were out, watching and learning from the more experienced of his team. Morning had turned to afternoon and before he realized it he had skipped lunch and now preparations for dinner were needed to be made.
Zakiax returned all of his pokemon to their pokeballs but Zeke, Flora and Sakki. The charmelon liked to help cook as they were used to doing so when they traveled. Flora was there for safety reasons, encase something started a blaze, and Sakki would be left outside to watch observe from the window. The dragonite was too big to let roam around inside, but she was quite comfortable watching from outside in.
After entering the living quarters Zak made one stop at his room, leaving all of his pokeballs and training supplies. The only thing he grabbed was his notebook, a useful tool for cooking dinner as it held all of his notes about certain dishes as well as a few experiments he would like to try with recipes.
Now that he was prepared it was time to go search for his housemates and see what they wanted to eat for dinner. He often cooked dinner when he was back from his travels, and usually would cook what ever everyone wanted. He then would eat some from each dish and try to make improvements on it, hence his notebook was born. Usually when he traveled he really didn't care how the food tasted, but now as he was cooking for others, his care had kicked in.

Lyle was in the common room, in the middle of reading through some paperwork the Pokémon League had sent him. He was slouched on the couch with his feet propped up on the coffee table, a packet of papers in his hands and a board expression on his face. As always, Spinel was out of his pokeball, and Lyle had opted to also release Tetania, his second-smallest pokemon, to keep him company. She was curled up for a nap on the couch beside him, and Lyle would periodically drop his hand to pet her. Spinel had chosen to take a nap as well, and was flopped on top of the warm, furry pokemon.
Lyle would rather be taking a nap himself than trying to get through the paperwork. It was very wordy and tough to understand, but seemed to have something to do with maintaining the gym. It was kind of hard to focus on, but he wasn't even sure if the Pokémon League needed him to give them an answer about something, so he was trying to struggle through it. But when Zak came into the room, Lyle looked up, glad for even a momentary distraction.
Then he spotted the notebook in Zak's hands and smiled, sitting up. The sudden movement woke up both his pokemon, who looked up as well. "Gonna make dinner?" Lyle asked expectantly.

Zeke instantly made his way over to Lyle, giving him a friendly headbutt. A normal greeting for the charmeleon. The raptor gave a soft deep thrum from the depths of his throat greeting the other pokemon in the room. Flora remained on the sidelines. Usually the kingdra kept to herself unless she wanted to voice her opinion about flying types. "Yes," Zakiax replied to Lyle's question. "I am, any requests for dinner?" he questioned. He would ten go find the others in the house to find their requests and Zak usually went all out with dinner. The male could not help that he liked to cook and intended to improve most of the recipes he used.

He headbutt pushed Lyle back into the couch, but he laughed. It was kind of fun, like being nuzzled by Tetania, only a lot harder. "Hi Zeke," he said, petting the Charmeleon's head. Spinel grinned and waved, while Tetania chirped a "Quil," in greeting, then stood up and stretched. Lyle put his packet of papers on the table and also stood up. He had to nudge Zeke aside to make room. "That thing you did last week with the noodles was good. Maybe something like that?" Lyle suggested. "Can I help? I need a break from reading this stuff," he said, indicating the papers he'd been slogging through and making a face. "Trying to make sense of it is worse than homework."
