Henry Wednesday
Wednesday wasn't expecting that, but he was prepared... hopefully. He ran towards the strange beast, crashing into it when they met. It was strong, for a dog at least. He managed to crash the dog, and himself, onto their sides on the rock covered ground. Wednesday would feel that tomorrow, maybe. The two fought for a few seconds, until Wednesday stuck his thumbs in the beasts eyes, crushing them in a matter of seconds. He looked around, trying to find a loose rock with some heft. Finding one, he brought it down on the dog's head multiple times, until he was sure it was gone.
"Well, there's one problem solved..."
He then commenced to climb the rocks, through the rain and the wind. It wasn't all that hard for him, he'd been trained in free-climbing by his intelligence agency. Within minutes, he'd climbed out of the ravine.

While it seemed like he was through, the simulation hadn't ended or changed; the location had more to provide. If there were anything to learn about wild alien dogs, they were often pack animals, and he'd just killed the one whom was scouting for food. Emerging from behind boulders were four, larger dogs. It didn't look like a rock would help him much now. Each of them were about three and a half feet tall, but looked shorter we they lowered their heads. From the looks of it, the front legs were intended to help them run and pounce, while the small arms clawed away. The worst place to be was underneath one, since the front legs would pin while the small arms would just rip someone's chest open. Danger had a profound way of unlocking physical prowess, hence why it was used for the simulation. She was impressed by his handiwork.

Not willing to see him assaulted by the dogs, her voice was projected into the simulation. “You’re dealing with the scabuntpectus canis, a species known for noise sensitivity. If you provoke them with yells, they’ll charge. You have the ravine behind you, utilize it.” He’d been on the offense for the most part, but this called for evasive maneuvers.

He took the advice, shouting something in Irish, or what might have been Irish. He still wasn't sure what countries still stood. The dogs charged at him, as he was hoping. When they got close, he dove out of the way, watching them tumble down to the rocky bottom below. They looked dead at least.
"Is that it, or would you like more proof that I'm fine?"
Wednesday wasn't tired of the simulation, but he knew the sooner it ended, the sooner she'd likely ask where a plain old detective learned such skills. Then again, maybe he didn't want it to end so soon, give him more time to find an answer for such questions.

“No, that’s all.” He was clearly fine; these conditions were plenty for physical testing. In a matter of seconds, the location dissolved, and he’d find himself standing exactly where he was when he began. After the door slid open, she stepped out. Val walked forward, a transparent clipboard in her hand. “It’s an impressive room, don’t you think? I’d love to explain how it works, but it’d take a while.” He wasn’t exactly updated on what kind of technology they had beyond basic observation and a few occasions actually using. “Would you like a glass of water?” It would’ve been appropriate to offer some. He’d done quite a bit of exercise since he entered, so she figured it would be to his benefit.

Wednesday was relieved that it was over. As fun as it had been to be active again, this hadn't been what he'd had in mind.
"Water would be nice. So would some cigarettes, now that my ability to function isn't in question."
He had needed one for a few minutes, and was happy that he'd soon have some. It would, at the very least, give him more time to not be questioned about his abilities.

“I had someone fetch some while you were in the simulation. And it seems you’ll be free to go by tomorrow. Come with me,” she said, escorting him back to the changing room. As they walked, someone in the hall passed him some water. He hadn’t received the cigarettes yet, but that was probably because the area wasn’t appropriate for them. As soon as he was through changing, she planned on taking him to a different room to discuss his place in the new society.

Wednesday was quick to drink the water, feeling instantly refreshed. When he got into the changing room, he quickly checked the clothes for bugs or trackers, much to his joy there weren't any. As he walked out, he noticed a man down the hall, holding what he guessed were his cigarettes. It didn't take Wednesday long to beckon the man, take the cigarettes, and light one. He didn't care if there were any laws against smoking indoors in this strange future, what were they going to do, arrest a man who was thousands of years old. He found it unlikely, although beneficial for escape.
"Lead the way Doc, we have much to talk about after all."

His response was amusing, but just about everything he had to say was to steal his attention. He was a man out of time, and while she’d seen images and recordings of the world he lived in, nothing could compare to experiencing it firsthand. What he may have perceived as unimportant and plain were progenitors to the world he witnessed now. “I’m never too short of questions. I am a scientist, after all,” she replied with a simper. “I’d ask you pardon my humor, but I hope you don’t feel too boyish, regardless of the years. You’ve just awoken to find that everything’s changed, and here we are, pointing you left and right, when you’ve yet to decide which way truly leads forward.” Her view on ethics remained steadfast, and she intended to keep her word of letting him go freely, as he appeared to be mentally and physically healthy. He’d been compliant with their tests, showing that the cryogenics had succeeded, but he’d spent over a lifetime in seclusion. While it was her hope that he’d stay and entertain her imagination, he was entitled to see the world that he’d been stolen from. He deserved to start afresh, to move forward.

"Not at all, besides, the right path always becomes clear in time."
They'd been walking for awhile it seemed, and the room ahead seemed curious. Perhaps the original choice for him to get his cigarettes, it was more open than the rest he'd seen, except for the garden. He saw no cameras at this point, and if he was lucky, he could use that to get out before the next day, perhaps with the scientist. He would, after all, need someone who knew the world to escort him for a bit.
"Tell me," he said as he exhaled some smoke,"What's a girl like you doing in a science lab? Surely you're the type that yearns to see all the endless wonder the world has to offer the scientific mind."
It was his usual way of talking someone into doing something. It either worked or it didn't. Besides, with the sewers renovated years ago, she would know where everything he'd stashed there was sent, and how hard it would be to retrieve. Hopefully she was as curious about him as she looked.

“I can’t say my career has restricted me much. I’ve visited quite a few planets, for research purposes, of course,” she replied. It was more than anyone from his time could say. It wasn’t as if she’d visited a few countries, more so a few homeworlds, plenty of which her organization allowed exclusive access, especially since she was an executive officer. He was a remnant of a time when the conglomerate had merely been ascending, and now it was easily the most powerful scientific organization and corporation in the known galaxy. In anyone’s eyes, their influence was vast.

When they arrived at a door, it opened to unveil some sort of office space, presumably hers. It seemed appropriate, a simple desk confrontation where she could ask her questions, no distractions by artificial nature or tasks to test his mental and physical state. “You’re welcome to take a seat.” She took the seat at her desk, naturally. Her questions were due, but now it was time to be straightforward. “The question is,” said Val, “why you lied to me from the beginning.” She was no fool, and could piece two and two together. The testing had to be done to show he was functional, because laws were set before one could go about Bostrom. “You can expect honesty from me, but I’d ask for it in return. I knew your name, and I can infer that you want to leave, as if you are pursuing something.” She didn’t ask of much, but honesty seemed to be scarce.

Wednesday smiled, this time extremely genuine as he took a seat in front of the desk. If she was referring to the name Booker Rylin, the name he gave earlier, that means she didn't know everything she thought. His real name hadn't been mentioned, and it was likely molding on some file in an intelligence agencies warehouse. She was straightforward now, which meant he was done being on the defensive. His face became very serious, almost frightening.
"Because the Genesis I know would kill me after knowing what I knew, who I am. The Genesis I knew kidnapped people for experimentation. I have no intention of dying here, so I will do anything necessary to pursue my life and my freedom."
He lit a cigarette now, waiting for whatever she had to say, but then remembered something.
"You guys used to have people in all aspects of Government. Congress, the Military, and I'd assume the Intelligence agencies."
He knew for a fact about the Intelligence Agencies, but a common detective likely wouldn't have.
"With that in mind, there's probably a microphone hidden in here that would pick up sound and send it directly to the nearest Intelligence safe house, no matter how far away?"
He had his plan, if he was right, he'd say his real name, and as soon as it appeared in their computers, which it would saying in his day they still had files on blacklisted agents from the late 1900's, an agent would be sent, perhaps multiple, to take out his blacklisted agent who was now over 200 years old. He knew to much. If so, he could finish her questioning, and still have time to prepare to eliminate them for his escape. He was hoping he was right, but doubted it. Either way, he while she may promise his release, the higher ups may not be as willing. He'd kill everyone in the compound if need be, he was leaving today.

Her tone hadn’t really changed, merely crossing her fingers over her lap. While she was astonished at the sudden, yet expected change of atmosphere, she remain composed. “I’m afraid you’re peering at us from a perspective that’s grown obsolete. It has been many, many years, and the people that conveyed our name aren’t the same people we are now. In a developing world, we’re no exception. I’ve shown you the fruits of this development without so much as stepping out of this building, have I not?”

After tapping her desk, a display bringing forth holographic newspapers from around his time showed, and she flipped the screen so he could see for himself, all of them detailing a decline of their endorsement and the exposure of illegal experimentation, but it also displayed details of their efforts to reform, to make right of their wrongs via reestablishing the ethics of their work. “We’re only human, Mr. Wednesday, and as such, we’re prone to failure and shortcomings. We’ve spent centuries attempting to compensate for the past by engineering a brighter future. I’ve seen what we do. I grew up seeing this corporation build wonders. You wish to be free, then I’ll see to it you are, sanguinely tonight. If you won’t take my word for it, let the world itself show you what we have done, and judge us then.”

Wednesday was impressed, not really by the long refusal of who Genesis now was, he didn't believe it, but that she actually knew his name. It actually made him smile, legitimately smile.
"I must admit, you've done more research on me than I thought was possible. I'm impressed. If you know my name, then you have some idea of what I used to do, so I'm assuming my ability to make a new identity won't be in question." Wednesday said, lighting a new cigarette," Also, I'll be taking my gun back."
He didn't expect the gun to still work honestly, but there was a chance they'd replace it if that was the case, or not. He wasn't sure how they'd act now that everything was being openly discussed.

It wasn’t too hard to tell that he wasn’t convinced of their benevolence, but she’d done her part. His opinions were his own. “I’ll contact its temporary withholder so that it may be returned to you. I can’t imagine it would be as useful as it was then, but I suppose its better than being unarmed. If I could offer advice, you really ought to consider letting me assign an attendant to you. Naturally, there are complications, both sensibly and legally, with simply letting you out upon the world. You’ve been absent for quite some time, and if you are to be convincing with a new identity of your choosing, someone has to make sure you grasp modern concepts.” It would be foolish to merely let him go without some form of guidance, because they had regulations they were supposed to follow. His information was understandably outdated, so it was only reasonable that he was smoothly returned to society.

Wednesday was glad to hear he'd get his gun back, although the attendant sounded like a glorified babysitter to him.
"What about you Doc?" Wednesday said,"We've already formed a slight trust, and I'd rather be followed by someone I'm at least slightly familiar with than a complete stranger. Besides, you know enough about this world that we could have a new identity made up in under an hour if we worked at it... Hours still exist right, you guys didn't change the time measurements?"
The last comment was more of a joke, but the more he thought about it, the more he was actually curious.
