Rule 1: Never talk about Occult Research Club

No Godmoding. There really isn't an excuse for this, and everyone knows what it is, so don't do it here--or anywhere really--and we'll have a good time. I know I just said that everyone knew what it was, but let's define it anyway. Godmoding is doing anything excessively, well, godlike that makes it unfair or else unpleasant to RP with you. Basically, every universe has a limit of what it can support, and if you don't fit in your universe you must be godmoding. For this guild it means: don't be immune to deception; as in your character can't not be surprised by anything ever, your powers can't be something ridiculous like creating an energy ball the size of the sun or reversing time whenever you or someone dies, you can't walk up to characters already established as strong--the hard way!--and pwn them like a fragile moth or something, you don't have a utility belt so you won't have the right item for everything on you, don't just keep powering up; if your energy is plentiful that's cool but don't get stupid with it; your character is going to have to top out somewhere. This includes using the "pain of loss" or other pathological drivers to boost yourself. There are limits. Even I thought Issei gomoded during the last fight of season two. That's about it. If you're breaking a scene with your powers, or, hell, even if I am, it will be dealt with swiftly. This is the most annoying thing ever, so please observe the golden rule about gomoding--that was kind of fitting...

2: Excessive Character Creation no es Bueno

More than that, in my experience it kills guilds. Before you know it all the activity of the guild is held in a few hands, people become intimidated, and then, when those active few with ever so many characters leave, the guild suffers a mighty blow from which it mayn't recover. I've seen it too many times, and it's not going to happen here-NOT ON MY WATCH! emotion_awesome
If you need more activity, invite more folks to the guild. Starters get four characters, then we'll see after that case by case. NPCs, however, those are fine. We get it, you need people to populate your houses or otherwise move your scenes along. I mean, we are playing pretend, but pretending a butler's there is not the same as actually having an NPC. Plus NPCs help scenes happen in your threads when you aren't there. Your character isn't home to take that important news? Good thing you made that butler NPC!

3: Sportsmanship

It isn't fun losing a fight, I get it. I remember my first loss. It was a fair fight and I just couldn't hang. Sure, I wasn't happy about it, but I also wasn't mad at the guy. I realized that the person wasn't godmoding and beat me fair and square. Later we talked about fight strategy and he explained how he used his ability to corner me, and, realizing that I really didn't have anything to counter it, I had to concede. That's not to say you have to get all chummy with your opponents, but let's all try to be civil about it at least, huh?

4: Sneaky upgrades

This one is a tactic I see some people use. Sure, we're busy, and we might not have all the time in the world to check up on your profile threads, but that doesn't give you the go ahead to just keep adding powerups to your profile we don't know about or approve. It's one thing if you've already gotten it in the story, but it's another to get a character approved, wait til aren't watching, and then add item and powerup after item and powerup to make your character nearly invincible without any grounding in said character's story. All this can be avoided with a simple quote. And if you're hiding things because you think they won't be approved--first of all, you're underestimating my largesse--but don't; we will help you get your character a plot to go with the add-on. If that means a mission, we'll do that with you.

5: One place at a time

I've hinted at it earlier with my talk of NPCs, but it warrants more talk. Despite your best quantum arguments, you can only be in one place at a time. For missions and arcs and whatever there is a certain division of time to allow for you to post with that character in all those places at once, but for the regular RP you can't just bounce around as is convenient for you. Yes, it does suck when you miss a chance for your character to hear some good intel because of someone else, but you should really commit to one scene at a time. Conversely if you are stuck somewhere because someone is AWOL or another place with faster posters is taking your interest from someone who, while they're active, aren't as active as fits your needs, then by all means cut yourself away from the scene. You should probably contact the player when you decide to do that, though. Break it to them gently!

6: Ecchi, not Hentai!

Yeah, we know a big part of the fun here is the kinkiness that can only come from HSDxD, but gaia has rules about that of which I'm sure you're all aware. Keep it PG-13--for some reason the only applies to sexy time and not gore but oh well--and we'll be ok. I don't know anything of your PM sex-capades, and I wash my hands of all responsibility regarding material not directly posted in this guild. Make friends with the timeskip. If you have any questions on what's acceptable... Ask Zarud Ask me.

7: This are semi-lit guild

Ok, I know I'm not the most literate cat out there; I really hate my writing, so it's really hard for me to be critical of others' writing lest I look hypocritical. That said, incomprehensible isn't accecptable. Plus there is spellcheck on chrome, and I assume other browsers have it too, so there's less excuse for improper spelling. Grammar on the other hand, well, just make sure you can get your point across.

8: Badges!

If you are part of a group of any notoriety, you must have an image of some kind representing your group in your profile at all times. It's really hard to keep track of everyone and who's supposed to be where or who can be where without little timestamps, so please help us help you.

9: You didn't say the magic words!

In order to get a profile approved or an update looked at you must say the secret words in a quote for the right person.

Devils: quote me, or Zarud Helviiryn.
Password: Oppai-Dragon!

Angels: quote me
Password: Xylem Down

Humans: quote me
Password: Magenta

If you don't use the password we'll pass your stuff by. Yes, it's a little tedious, but hey it works. Please just play along.

Here are some other things
to keep in mind.

* Approval first, post second.

When you make a profile make
sure you're ready for our opinions.
It doesn't have to be done, so
don't worry if you're stuck. We'll
help you. Whatever you do, don't
just think whatever you have
is good enough and go straight
to posting. It looks--unprofessional.

*Formats!

Use them. I'd think you'd like to
have a pretty format, but you can
have just a simple one with your
character's pic (not in code) and
differences between narration, dialogue,
and headcanon texts. If you don't
know how to build a format, take
a look at the how to section in the
For you Format thread.

*Exit strategy

There are threads in which you
can be active without leaving
the thread you're in, side threads,
if you will, and they are:

Missions: 1
Arenas: 2 at once
Personals: 1
Arcs/events: 1

This'll give you plenty to do.
This adds up to you being able
to put a character in five threads
at once without exiting, but if
you want to go to, say, Downtown
and you're still in Lilith you're
going to have to post that you've
left somewhere in a post.

(more to come... Probably)
