. FLEUR .

.../ Meaning.
"flower"

.../ Gender.
female

.../ 3-words or less.
guarded. distinguished. refined.

.../ Personality.
Much of what Fleur shows to others is what she expects they might want from her. She bottles in a lot, and tries to put up a front of proper actions. Every once in awhile her perfect exterior slips and she blooms in to the elegant, carefree Aeterna that is in there. Fleur tries so hard to live up to being the only Sanguis and what that higher standard might mean. She doesn't feel that she is anything better or worse than the others, just different. Because of that, she tends to be a little more of a loner among the Aeternus.

Fleur has a mask that she puts forth to others: calm, cool, and even somewhat submissive, but this mask is just that. She protects her true, inner feelinga from everyone else. She may bring someone in to her trust as time moves on but that individual has not been found.

With enough coaxing and just plain sticking around, Fleur is more likely to truly befriend another. Shebis cordial to all, even the abbrassive ones, but she does not think that anyone liles her for herself (such a contradiction, considering she does show her true self to others).

As time passes, things change, and with the proper care a flower keeps blossoming - and never the same way twice.

.../ Likes.
Flowers. Nature. Waterfalls. Purity. Simplicity.

.../ Dislikes.
Cruelty. Wastefulness. Deforestation. Cities. Deserts. Technology

.../ Potential.
The best way to describe Fleur is to think of the "stereotype" of the upper classes in a victorian type of fashion, on the woman's side, only she self-inflicts it upon herself because of her Sanguis profile. She feels that she needs to put up the front of perfection, even though she struggles with the idea that she is not good enough. She does what she thinks is expected and deemed proper in "good society". What she does on her own time belongs only to herself, but the instant you bring someone in to the mix, the mask of refined perfection comes up.

Plotwise, I do see her changing, as change is inevitable - but that change will come about through roleplay, so I cannot (nor would I want to) define exactly what that is at this time. I am not objectile to her "cracking" every once in awhile. In fact, I think that is realistic given all the pressure she puts herself under.

. CATTLEYA ORCHID .

.../ Description.
The Cattleya orchid is also called the “corsage orchid” because in the old days fashionable ladies used to sport an oversized Cattleya corsage to special events. Even though it is not so common to wear corsages anymore, the Cattleya orchid is still extremely popular among amateur and professional growers. They are perfect as cut flowers because they are long-lasting and come in an array of colors. The blooms are usually quite big; I’ve seen enormous Cattleya flowers that are as big as my face. (And I don’t have a small face by any standard!)

The discovery of Cattleya was an accident. In the nineteenth century, a moss and lichen collector just grabbed some random sturdy leaves in the forest as packing material to protect his collections en route from Brazil to England. A horticulturist, William Cattley, saw the strange packing material and decided to grow it. Few years later, the strange plant produced some stunning blooms that rocked the world. The genus was therefore named Cattleya as a tribute to William Cattley, and the plant was then named Cattleya labiata. From then on, people started the crazy hunt for wild orchids in South America.

To this day, Cattleya orchids still define orchids; they are the benchmark of orchids. You may hear growers say “grow this orchid like Cattleya except a bit less light” or “this orchids need the Cattleya temperature.” Because Cattleya species are founded throughout tropical Central and South America, these orchids like intermediate to warm temperatures (55 to 65°F/13 to 18°C in winter nights and 15°F/10°C or so warmer during the day) and medium bright light. At home, it’s best to grow your Cattleya orchid by the southern, eastern or western windowsills. Provide as much light as it can take without burning the leaves; touch them to make sure they are not hot. When the plant receives its upper limit of light, it will show you a reddish tinge.

.../ Influence.
Much of her personality and actions is influenced by the orchid. She keeps her secrets close, hiding them until that rare moment she opens up (much like the orchid blooms only once a year). Naturally, the flower grows exclusively in tropical weather and Fleur is drawn to that, especially given her Sanguis nature.

She is also very put together as much as she can, and shows off the elegance and purity that the orchid entails.

Her interactions are also influenced by the flower: she is more drawn to those that are warm in nature and/or wet (think sappy, since they tend to cry a lot? ). Those that are more cool or distant (kind of like her? ) are less likely to have a real indepth experience.

. VOCIVUS .

Lots of green with a flurry of color. That is an apt way to describe Fleur's creation of her very own home in Vocivus. The trees are huge, their branches kissing the skies. A tropical paradise where she can feel at home, it seems almost out of place with how proper and prim she usually seems - almost like the ruffles that create the edge of the true flower. Granted, if you look closer, you'd find that no vine or drooping moss was out of place, so maybe it is not as wild as one might think.

There is also the sounds of many animals: parrots greeting each other, monkeys talking about the weather, and crickets singing lullabies. After looking around, however, there are no animals in sight.

It is often difficult to tell what the weather and time of day it is, the trees block most of the light. Under the trees, it was always dark. The sun does go down, and then it is just a little darker. What would it look like above the tree line? Water also seems to fall below the tree line, but nothing is wet outside of some dew settling on petals and leaves. It gives the forest an appearance of glowing.

Is that water roaring in the background? Is there a waterfall?

. SOUL COLLECTION .

.../ Reaping.
Fleur tends to look for those souls that are as beautiful and put together as herself. Animals are a favorite, although she does to watch for those human souls that are true to themselves - their beauty inside matches that on the outside (because really, if they have a beautiful soul, that is what she takes with her).

Philanthropists and true environmentalists are a favorite of hers: only those that are doing it because they feel it is right (and not for publicity, recognition, etc).

.../ Prompt. You are a Sanguis: the first and only of your kind.
Being the only Sanguis can be daunting. Fleur takes it to heart and does her best to show the other Aeternus that she can be as special as they may think she is. Some times, this means not always saying what is on her mind or being difficult to pry what is bouncing around in that mind of hers. Some are more persistent, and her soul becomes bared in the beautiful bloom that orchids are known for.

Fleur raised her head to face the water as it sprinkled down on her. This is where she went to think, and unwind after a more difficult reaping. She had been walking down a street, admiring the blossoms in everyone's windows when she had passed by an altercation. She reaped two souls, and then a third shortly after. Only one soul was pure and she felt tainted by the other two. After dropping them off in Vocivus she came here.

Niagra Falls seemed so much bigger than everything else. Her concerns washed away with the waterfall mist before it mixed back in to the rest of the water. She could rejuvenate here, and know that she could be herself and not be defined by her title of Sanguis.
