W e l c o m e x t o x A l a r i c ' s x C a b i n x R e t r e a t Alaric could distinctly remember the building of his cabin. He had searched for months and months for a suitable contractor, interior designer, and builder. If this house was going to sustain itself for forever many years Alaric wished to live there it needed to be just perfect. The exterior of the cabin hasn’t changed over the years, but the interior has undergone some massive overhauls. There was nobody for him to impress, but Alaric felt that his house might as well be luxurious. Needless to say, a magical barrier encased the premises. Those passing by the forest would just see trees, but be compelled not to trespass.
The master bedroom and great room was where Alaric spent most of his time. The builder, a stout Italian man, had insisted that Alaric add some other bedrooms. “You will thank me eventually,” the Italian said to Alaric with a wink. "Right, a bisexual immortal warlock hiding out in the middle of a forest is going to attract so much company. You are quite the visionary, Enzo." The other man's moustache bounced as he laughed, "I am smarter than I look, Al." Enzo's eyes flared yellow for a moment and Alaric grinned. You certainly are, my friend.
Over the years, the third bedroom became a sort of a study for Alaric to store all of his books and other miscellaneous possessions. Two beds were shoved into the second bedroom for the day that Alaric needed to house someone else, for whatever reason. Alaric occasionally invited a cook, the cutest one he could find, to prepare him several meals to be frozen. Fresh meat roasted over a fire was Alaric’s preferred form of sustenance. Alas, Alaric was lazy most of the times and realized that he needed other food for the days he didn’t go hunting.
In the backyard, iron fences stretching eight feet high secured the perimeter. Trees and unkempt shrubs lined the fences so that the yard remained visually appealing. At the far side of the yard was a single swing set with two swings, facing the house. Alaric had made sure that the front of the house faced north to enhance his magic. On the east side of the yard was a small, perfectly circular, pond. On the west side of the yard laid a fire pit in equal diameter and circumference to the pond. In the center of the yard, a marble slab with ancient runes was cemented into the ground with magic. It was in this yard that Alaric practiced most of his magic, where he could channel all of the elements. The swings were mostly for decoration.
Music from every century and decade usually flows through the halls of Alaric’s cabin, pouring out of his vintage gramophone. Aside from music, the house is usually quiet. For now, that is.

XXXXXXXX◈The truth will SET you freexxxxxxxxxx════════════════════XXXXXXXXXXXXXbut first ⋱xx══════════════════════XXXXXit will piss` you offxxxxxxxxxxxxxx═════════════════════x x Karina just rolled her eyes at his remark about her food. She didn't much care what he thought of it, as long as he let her eat it. Taking the back without remark, since he was already carrying all the other ones that she'd thought she'd have to haul around, the young woman grumbled at him as she followed him out of the shop, though it was more token complaints than anything else. She hated having the leash on her, but had expected it. That anticipation made it a little more bearable, she thought anyway. Noticing him looking at the puddle, the girl barely had time to wonder why he was bothering with it when she found his arm around her waist. She was about to open her mouth and tell him off for being grabby when he started muttering in some weird language - at least, she thought it was a language, it made her ears hurt and Karina grimaced, wanting to cover her ears. It wasn't as if she had time and they were already gone as her hands were going up.
He was lucky she wasn't the sort of girl who would scream or faint, or even complain that much, with how they simply disappeared from one spot and reappeared elsewhere. Instead she felt a little like all the air had been sucked out of her lungs and took a few moments to try to gather herself. Moments he didn't give her, as the man quickly left her side and headed up the steps of the porch. The place was nice, if sort of more rustic than she had imagined, and Karina quickly followed him in case he decided to lock her out or something like that. He seemed like the sore and she wasn't going to give him the chance to do it. Setting her bags down where she saw him put the other ones, unsure where he wanted them, Karina ran a hand through her hair and looked around to where he'd gone. Suddenly he was back out and while there was something off about his tone, she was unsure as to what exactly it was. Just...something. Narrowing her eyes at him suspiciously, she had indeed seen the room he thought she was going to sleep in and wasn't happy about it. It was little more than a closet, in her opinion, though hearing that the other option was to share his room made her pause. Why she couldn't just get rid of the other bed to make more room, for a start - before she could even start to complain, he was showing her his room. It was definitely an upgrade, though still kept with the mountain cabin scheme she thought was a bit tacky. Pursing her lips, Karina could barely get a word in edgewise as he babbled on and figured she'd make up her mind at night. Shrugging, she headed on in to look around. If he'd opened up the door, she was going to do as she pleased. The closet was empty, which surprised her, and she blinked to see the bathroom already having the things he said he'd bought for her. Maybe he just expected her to share his room?
He went somewhere else and Karina left the bedroom, trailing after him. When she saw he had the weapons, her eyes bugged out a bit and her jaw dropped. She stayed out of the study, if only because she was too surprised to disobey him and push her limits. "Excuse me?" Karina replied, her tone saying it all for her. No, she hadn't ever been hunting in her life, and in heels? Was he crazy? "Are you insane?" she asked in disgust.

XXXXXXXX◈The truth will SET you freexxxxxxxxxx════════════════════XXXXXXXXXXXXXbut first ⋱xx══════════════════════XXXXXit will piss` you offxxxxxxxxxxxxxx═════════════════════x x She cringed at the bang, the sudden sound hurting her ears even with the soothing music playing in the background. Maybe it was just from being tense, Karina thought, watching the man suspiciously. The more erratically he behaved, the more worried she was getting about her odds of even staying alive long enough to figure out a way to get out of this place. Chewing on her lower lip, the young woman kept her distance from Alaric. In the short time it took for the oven to come to temperature, if she had any inkling of the thoughts racing through his head - well, she wouldn't know what to make of them, in all truth. They would certainly freak her out, that much was for certain. But she was hesitant to say anything, something unusual for the girl, as she actually was afraid of him. He had abilities she'd never dealt with before and the unknown, in her experience, was something to fear. Almost wishing she'd been bought by someone who just wanted to use her in bed and nothing more than that, Katarina made sure to keep the counter between herself and her new master. There was no need for him to concern himself over her going into his study - he had sufficiently freaked her out earlier that she didn't think of crossing into his private rooms, no matter how tempting they were to the nosy young woman. She did have some sense of self-preservation, after all.
Blanching when he said the lasagna actually had human flesh, she stared, unable to tell if he was joking or not. Katarina resisted the urge to run away from him and just swallowed down the bile that had risen in her throat, her hand subconsciously lifting to touch her collar when he brought up the horrid thing. He wasn't a very good warlock or whatever he was if he couldn't tell she needed someone else to get it off, she thought snidely, though the thought was more out of a need to retaliate than any real disgust with him. At least in that regard. Listening to his explanation of the grounds, it oddly didn't surprise her that much. With what she'd seen him do, Katarina had already reasoned to herself that trying to run away was stupid. It was something she'd do if she thought she had to, of course, but that didn't mean she'd think it was any less of a dumb thing to do. "First of all, if I could take the collar off, I would have. The magic in it keeps slaves from removing it on their own." Her tone suggested she was just short of adding 'duh' to the end of her words, giving him a look that, while bordering on her usual dry stares, didn't quite reach. Perhaps it was the anxiety that kept her from being her usual cocky, bossy self. "And more importantly -" because she could care less about the dumb collar compared to the next item of business - "you were joking about that having hu-people in it, right? I won't eat it," Katarina added defiantly. She wouldn't put it past him, she'd seen other masters and slaves eat all sorts of odd things - equally disgusting. But she wasn't a cannibal of any sort and didn't plan to start anytime soon, either. She'd rather starve.
Wonderland Wanderer ooc // gah, I'm sorry this isn't up to par.
