Every unicorn's first instinct, upon seeing this place, should be to turn and flee a stand of burning trees. Heat rolls off them in palpable waves, almost like a current rippling along a riverbank. The air is filled with floating bits of charred leaf and limb, brightened by the trail left by a lazily wandering spark. All scents are muted by the smell of smoke

...and yet it's not as bad as it could be. There is still air to breathe. The heat, though noticeable, is not the barrier it should be if you keep well clear of the trees and walk the path that clearly winds between them.

Side Event: Burning Trees

You may try for this quest up to three times a day (if you fail) and claim the prize once a day.

The Burning Forests

The trees in this forest seemed to have caught fire long ago, ever burning to this day. Watch your step lest you catch fire~

In order to escape, youll need to make your way through three interconnected trails without catching yourself on fire.

- Roll 3d6 and 1 to each of your results. These are your heat tolerance thresholds for each of the three trails youll be traveling on.

- Roll 1d6 in three separate posts to determine if youve escaped each path. If you roll under (or the same as) the number that corresponds to the path youre on from your first post, you have escaped unscathed and may claim your loot without consequence.

- If you roll over any heat tolerance you have, you have passed out and will be consumed by the flames. You are drug back to safety by wandering woodland animals (awe youre Cinderella!), who leave a small pouch next to you for when you awaken. Depending on what you roll, the dust in the pouch as a different effect on you! Check under the spoiler tag to find out which temporary effect you are suffering from:

3. Glowing Eyes~
Your eyes start to emit a faint glow during your next side event. In addition, you might end up mistaken for a flash light.

4. Phantom Wings~
You sprout a set of transparent ghostly looking wings during your next side event. If you already have wings, congrats! You have another ghostly pair!

5. Multi-colored Spots~
During your next side event, your skin is covered in a number of spots in different colors and sizes.

6. Bubble Hiccups~
For the duration of the next side event you partake in, every other word is interrupted by a fit of hiccups! Bubbles accompany your hiccups~ You lush!

- You must write at least 150 words over all of your posts for this side event to count, catching fire or not. Once you are done you may claim your prize below.

Example

You dont catch fire~

In my first post, I roll a 2, 4 and 6. My heat tolerance is 3, 5 and 7 after I have added 1 to each die.

I roll again, 1d6 this time. I must roll a number less or equal to 3 in order to move to the next path. I roll a 1. Ive passed!

Another 1d6. I must roll less or equal to 5 this time. I roll a 5. I pass again!

On my last 1d6 roll, I get a 6. I pass again! Yay!

As long as I have written a combined 150 words over my four posts, I may claim my loot.

You catch fire and die a firey death~

In my first post I roll a 5, 1 and 3. My heat tolerance thresholds are 6, 2 and 4 after I have added 1 to each die.

I roll again, 1d6 this time. I must roll a number less than or equal to 6 in order to move to the next path. I roll a 3. I passed!

Another 1d6. I must roll lesser than or equal to 2 this time. I roll a 3 and I catch fire! I match my roll to the pouches listed and discover that I come down with bubble hiccups. My side event ends, but now I feel a little silly.

As long as I have written 150 words over my three posts, I may claim my loot.

[[Tolerances are 4, 5, 2]]
Cerulean Gazer
My name: Cerulean Gazer
My faction: Citizen
Small IC description of character:

Physical Appearance:
Cerulean Gazer stands at 5' 5" at the withers (Almost 17 hands or around 167 cm.) His coat is a very smooth off-white with light rosy tinged stockings. He posses a long medium gray mane and tail. His eyes are a gentle cerulean blue. His horn is average length and straight.

Personality:
Cerulean Gazer - just Gazer to those who know him best - can be described as a quiet, observant, and gentle soul. He's more of a listener than a talker. Despite this, he loves storytelling. Generally, he is most often aloof, preferring solitude to company. This does not mean he is unwelcoming, however. Simply, he prefers the quiet. He's difficult to get to know because of his reserved nature.

Oracle Scribe: Gazer's Oracle Scribe

After resting for most of the day, Gazer decided to get up and wander around. Away from the camp, he finds the strange burning forest. Normally, he wouldn't think of entering a burning forest, but the fire seems low enough and it looks safe enough to his impaired mind.

With his head still hurting, his judgement isn't quite what it should be, so he wanders into the burning forest. He should be safe, right?

[[First Path, Tolerance 4]]

At the entrance, the heat wasn't too bad. Yes, he could do this, he thought. Trouble arose after trying to pass the flames along the first path, however. In his still weakened state, his body couldn't handle the flames. He caught fire and passed out.

When he awoke, he found a pouch next to him. When he opened it, he found strange powder inside it. He wondered out loud, "I wonder what this powder's for..."

[[Tolerances are 3, 7, 2]]

Little did Gazer realize that the pouch of dust actually had an effect on him. He didn't know that the powder, when he sniffed it, had put multicolored spots all over his body in various shapes and sizes.

Had he noticed the spots he probably would have been alarmed and thought better of re-entering the burning forest, but still lacking his normal whit, he walked forward, intent on trying again.

[[First path, Tolerance 3]]

Surprisingly, as he entered the forest, he managed not to catch fire this time. The woodland creatures that had rescued him previously, unbeknownst to him, probably would think him crazy for re-entering the burning forest.

After a few minutes of walking, he reached the end of the first path and was faced with a choice because of a branch in the road. One was completely impassable, and the other was similar to the first.

[[Second path, Tolerance 7]]

Surprisingly, the second path - though similar to the first - was easier to walk though. The heat barely effected him and the air was surprisingly clear. Despite the evidence of the fire all around him, it was almost like this part of the trail hadn't been touched by the flames at all.

Soon, however, he reached the end of this easy trail and was faced with another fork. Both options looked equally as bad as the impassable one he'd encountered previously. It was too late to turn back now.

[[Third path, Tolerance 2]]

Gazer randomly chose a path and tried to press forward. However, he didn't make it very far. His mane caught fire and the smoke grew thicker. He was quickly rendered unconscious. The woodland creatures that had saved him previously were kind enough, unknowing to him, to drag his body out once more.

When he woke up, he found another pouch, just like before. When he sniffed at it, even more spots were added and with a wider range of colors too.

[[Third and Last try today, Tolerances are ...the exact same as last time 3, 7, 2]]

The heat didn't help his previous injuries. Between his throbbing head and smoke inhalation from his most recent attempt at reaching the other side of the burning forest, he wasn't of sound mind.

Seeing no reason not to try one more time, Gazer started for the forest again.

[[First path, Tolerance 3]]

Gazer's weak body didn't make it far. One would think that after two attempts failed, he wouldn't try again. He did though, and failed a third time. Hid body was found by the little woodland creatures once more and dragged back to the entrance where he would be safe.

With a slightly singed mane, various colorful spots, and phantom wings, Gazer was done with the burning forest for the day. After sniffing at the powder he found this time, he finally noticed his spots and the wings. This alarmed him, and thankfully was enough to make him leave. Perhaps he would try again tomorrow, once the effects of the powder wore off. However, for the moment he was worried that the spots might be permanent.
