Not so long ago, Mahea would have voiced her opinion to anyone that would listen on the subject of the addition of soldier to the ranks of the Pridelands, but recently, no thanks to the disturbing tales of horrific visions among the seers of the pride, she found herself doubting her original stand on the subject. There was the threat that these visions were something more, but still, she tried to keep a level head, to keep an open mind. Maybe there had been something in the water, as someone had suggested, but at least this new king, however young he may be, took notice and addressed it...Though the concern had been voiced in shadows and away from the public's eye. To avoid panic in the masses, she assumed.

Groaning loudly, the burnt orange lioness wandered far from Pride Rock and the safety of home, the grass parting to allow her passage. The wind was there, in the form of a gentle breeze that ran over her sides, keeping her body cool enough under the rising African sun. Wandering did her mind some good, but it also left her with her thoughts, which at this time were almost as dangerous as the potential in these visions of death.

"Maybe I should have brought someone to chat with..." She mused aloud.

Jata was enjoying the sun, her own thoughts swirling around her. Things seemed to be getting complicated within the big picture, but a small part of her own world was changing. Being an adult, possibly seeing her own siblings move on. It was...strange? Moreso just that she had to face this whole concept of being a self sufficient adult, while also being part of the cog that kept the Pridelands spinning together as one piece.

It was just so much, but it seemed stupid enough when she tried to voice her thoughts.

"Hm?" She thought she had been (somewhat) alone out here, a bit further from the heart of the pride, but she was mistaken. True privacy seemed to be a rare thing out here. "A chat? With a songbird, perhaps, though then it would be more of a one-sided conversation with some songs mixed in."

Mahea's ears swiveled to the side, followed closely by the turning of her head towards the other voice. There were so many Pridelanders that she hardly even knew the faces of even a small percentage of them. Maybe she'd get better with being more of a public face in the future. Her mother had seemingly been much better with remembering people, but it was unsurprising, given the fact her mother had previously been a princess in the Pridelands and one that had favored acting like the Lady she had become, even going so far as to instill her own manners into her children.

"Though at least the songbird would provide a sweet melody, even at the lack of conversation." She replied almost sadly, her voice betraying her youth. Crimson eyes glanced to the wing marking upon the other lioness' back. It was familiar, like she had seen them before, maybe on another lion. "I did not think anyone ventured this far out, unless perhaps you're hunting?"

Jata laughed lightly. "Unless the songbird ceased to sing, then it would only be a nuisance." This other lioness seemed kind enough, very typical Pridelander in terms of colour. She did seem...distracted, perhaps in similar ways to how Jata was.

"I try to enjoy what peace I can get," she replied with a smile. "Privacy and quiet is a rare thing around here. I don't stay out here too long, but it is nice. Sometimes a break from parents and siblings is a blessing." She shifted a bit to face the visitor a bit better, wrapping her tail around her side.

"I know its impossible to know everyone in this pride, so I will introduce myself. I am Jata."

"I can definitely relate to that. My mother and father mean well, as do my siblings, but they're all overwhelming at times." And then there were expectations, however minimal they were, but that was something best not shared with a stranger, at least not without reason. Glancing around, this area was relatively unknown to her, though it seemed like this lioness had been here before, possibly multiple times even. "I haven't wandered this far since...well, since I was a cub, actually. I typically stay so close to Pride Rock, just in case my family or anyone else needs me, that I had almost forgotten what exploring felt like." It was silly, but sometimes she wished she was a cub again and that Thrain was back so they could explore and get in trouble together again.

The corners of her mouth raised to give Jata a smile. "Sometimes it's a shame though, not being able to know everyone, but...well, that's another thought entirely. I'm Mahea. It's a pleasure, Jata."

Jata glanced downwards for a moment before looking back up at Mahea. "Ah, yes. Cubhood and what we left behind. Being an adult is a complicated bundle of feelings. I wish I could go back to the simple life of being a cub again."

Ah, perhaps she had shared too much, though she didn't share any details. Only the surface of her feelings on growing up and trying to handle herself as an independent lioness.

"It is always a pleasure to have a name to match with a face. It seems that we sometimes run into the same faces, only to never know their names. Especially when one is out this far from Pride Rock." Jata laughed. "Though to consider the option of calling this exploring rather than hiding from the noise is a much more peasant label."

Mahea could not help but laugh at the amount of feelings she shared with this other lioness, right down to 'exploring instead of hiding' and the feeling of the want for a simpler time. Didn't everyone...especially now, more than ever. But the young grew up, still wishing to be young again, it seemed. Awkwardly she pawed at the ground, trying to come up with words to say, but no words came. Perhaps there was really nothing more to talk about. Feelings had been shared, named had been exchanged and faces were now known.

After several long seconds, Mahea spoke after the familiar colored of black and white caught her attention out of the corner of her eye. "Jata, would you care to continue this conversation on a full stomach?" The question was punctuated with the familiar feeling of a rumbling stomach. Zebra were one of her favorite prey after all.

Jata was quite enjoying the conversation, as small as it was. It was nice to talk to someone that didn't know anything about her (or so she assumed), and just make easy small talk. It seemed like something that could go on for a little while, but Mahea seemed a bit....nervous? Shy? Out of things to say? Jata wasn't certain, but there was definitely a bit of a lull. Oh, what should she say to break the awkwardness?

Then Mahea spoke up again. "Oh. Over a full stomach? Hmmm. I quite like that idea. What did you have in mind?"

"Well..." The healer turned her head entirely towards the herd in the distance. Judging by the trees dotting the length between the herd and the two lionesses, they were definitely still in the Pridelands', making it fair game. She used to be a huntress, after all. There was still a part of her that missed the chase and the thrill of actually taking down something, but that wasn't where she was called to serve the pride. "Maybe over zebra~?" Mahea asked, her tail flicking behind her as she tossed a glance back to Jata. Whatever they didn't eat, they could haul back to the pride. Someone would appreciate it and with the strength of two lionesses, hopefully they could take down and carry something back with relative ease.

"Zebra? Hmm, I actually haven't had zebra for a while...that sounds like a fantastic idea." She grinned, her own sky blue eyes gazing off towards the herd. It seemed like a decent sized herd, they were bound to catch something in that group.

"I'm in. Then maybe we can talk more about silly wishes of being younger while feasting over our shared meal." Jata laughed, knowing it was a silly comment, but very true to how her own heart felt. It would be nice to share a bit of those concerns with someone she wasn't related to.

That all sounded wonderful at this point. Zebra, a chat with a fellow pridesister and a full belly to boot. Mahea could not help but laugh though at Jata's comment as she began jogging off towards the herd, the green grass of the Pridelands fading to gold as they neared the border, hiding both of them from sight as well as Mahea making sure to keep her head down though as to not alert the herd to her presence. Glancing once over her shoulder to ensure that Jata was following behind, the two lionesses set off on their hunt, both set on catching at least something. The Circle of Life would continue by their claws.
