Powers: Beast-form -- Avery can transform into a beast at will, unlike his father who was forced to remain a beast for years until he found love. It's not a very pretty sight, but it comes with plenty of perks. In his beast form, Avery has enhanced strength, speed, agility, durability, senses, and razor sharp claws and teeth. Unfortunately, his beast-form isn't without its downsides, such as something he calls his "white-noise". Although he can see clearly, it takes a lot of self-control to not attack everything in sight. He has to fight to remain in control of his body so that hid beastly side doesn't take full control and kill whoever is stupid enough to stand by a wild animal.
Human-form -- When he's in his human-form, Avery is much weaker. He doesn't have any special abilities, save his enhanced hearing. However, he is a very skilled hunter and horse-rider, and is a gifted scholar, spending his free time reading as many books as he can get his hands on. If he can't be the son that's going to be king, he may as well be the smart son.

Personality: Avery is like any other prince: charming, kind, generous, and handsome. It shouldn't be a personality quirk, but in their family, beauty is amazingly important. He is a lot like his mother, where Elroy is like their father. He doesn't mind, though. Growing up, Avery was very close to Queen Annabel, reading with her whenever he could and remaining close by her side, the perfect Mama's Boy. Even now, she's the most important woman in his eyes. With the rest of his family, Avery is very respectful and sweet, especially with his baby sister, the nine-year old Princess Rosemunde, or Rosy as he calls her.
Bio: Everyone knows the story of Beauty and Beast. Boy meets girl, girl turns out to be witch, witch turns boy into beast, then beast meets beautiful girl who falls in love with him and breaks the curse. However, little is known about what happened after the fairytale ended, after the Beast became a man again and married his Beauty. They had five kids together, the eldest the one that would eventually take the king's crown and rule over the kingdom. Unfortunately, Avery's not that prince.
It is said that Prince Avery was born just seconds too late to touch the crown, although his brother Elroy is four years older than him and Avery never really stood a chance. However, growing up, Avery never really thought the crown wouldn't go to him, doing his best to be better than Elroy at everything. He studied harder, he trained faster, he practiced his fake-smiling longer, but no matter what he did, he didn't seem any closer to the crown. It took sitdowns with the king and talks with the queen until he was twelve for the second-born prince to realize that he was never going to be king.
Years later, Avery seems as if he couldn't care less about being king. He studies, trains, smiles just as he did before, only with less purpose behind it. Now he just does what he can to make the family look good, even searching for a way to permanently remain in beast-form, as their family is so well-known for. Unfortunately, that kind of witchcraft is going to take much more than simple schooling. Using his status as the useless second prince, Avery has decided to go to school to study, knowing that with the miracle that is being part of his family, he'll find a way to make the change permanent. However, he has no idea what might happen in the future. Who knows? Avery may end up becoming a king after all.
