I believe this question belongs here.
Would you consider creating item lists for the RIGs you produce? I know that there are users who create lists based off of what other users claim to get from various RIGs, but I know this is a very long process, and sometimes I question the validity of said lists.

For new item CIs, part of the fun is for users to come together and try to make the lists themselves. I'd hate to take away that part of the excitement of CI launch day by providing a list. Currently, our announcements call out some item highlights that are contained within CIs, but the entire list is not distributed. However, I understand where you're coming from regarding the validity of user lists. If you have a question or want to verify whether something actually drops from the CI, many of the GCD users are on top of things, or you can try quoting a staff member such as myself or bluealaris for a validity check.
As a discussion topic: How does the GCD feel about Gaia providing "official" item lists instead of being user-generated? Do you feel it will take away from some of the excitement of being a GCD regular? (A potential Gaia-created item list would be released at least 24 hours after launch.)

Here are the responses this topic got within AtS (you won't find most of these in either subforum because staff only replied to one of them):

I love user lists! It's fun to find out what people win. Especially if you're online at the time a rig is released.

for me, as long as we were given a whole day to compile the list and ~ * ~ discover ~ * ~ the new items i wouldn't be opposed if an official list was released.
where would it be posted ?

I would be in favor of this, but I realize this might not be a popular opinion.
(Personally, I'd also like to see the threads more consolidated than they are now, but que sera sera.)

Is there some compromise that we could have? Maybe the staff could send the list to the person who makes a thread that day 24 hours after the RIG release? That way they can double check the item list so the admin doesn't have to spend their limited time releasing RIG lists everyday? Then if there are any further questions, users can contact Admins with a specific issue regarding this?
I just did my first list thread on Saturday and it was such a good experience, seeing lots of unique items getting released and conversing with everyone. I'd hate to see the Daily Threads go away, they have spawned unique interactions like the April Fools day switching and the Beach Party (which is still in my journal). Please don't take away the daily threads. emo

For CIs with like 200+ items, yes. For small ones, I think the GCD covers it pretty quickly and it would probably be a bit redundant to then duplicate the information.

not sure if i'm allowed to respond to things you guys post..
this is the first ATS i've been apart of..
but anyways..
i love the user generated items lists from rigs.
i think it's an opportunity to really bring the community together for something other then spam and trolling..heh..

I think it'd be good if Gaia released a list 24-48 hours later, that way everyone knows quick if something wasn't ever found. I say 48 because that gives the users a good period to crowdsource and discuss themselves.

I feel like its fun to create the list and wait as items pop up, but it would be cool if after we had the possibility of someone coming in and saying 'you got it!' or "your missing x"
But i understand that could be extra work or people might not be online at the time.

I would say wait a week after the release then make an official list that way many users can have the fun of finding the items then be able to check for any discrepancies later.

I agree, I feel like making item lists is a great experience in the GCD forum and I don't want to take that away! However, if two different users created item lists for that day, wouldn't it be unfair if one person was PMed a list and the other wasn't? I feel like it's difficult for Gaia to "officially" step in to CI item lists without making someone feeling like they've been left out, because it's impossible for us to be able to respond to everyone, every day, all the time. I think it might be best if we staff members step in on an "as needed" basis, like if there's controversy over whether something is actually dropping or not, that we can help as a referee.
Anyone here have thoughts to offer on the matter?
