Emrys nods."Indeed that is what everyone seems to say on the matter. Maybe there is some merit to such common things." He flutters his wings to get the blood moving in them. He doesn't want them to cramp up. That would be bad. He looks over at her tilting his head. Rites of passage? Is that what they are? He doesn't think so. After all he hasn't left on a travel alone. Maybe he should someday.
" I don't think that they are rites of passage. I just think that some of my siblings prefer to see the world in a broader light and experience new things. Though I guess in a way it is them growing up." He listens to her and smiles." Well not everyone is the same. So perhaps it was just how you and your brother was made that made it so you both felt like traveling. I have no doubt you love your family. The way you talk about them paints them in a good light."
As they near the glen he starts to get a little nervous. He wants his family to like her. Especially his father. Yet as they get to the glen his father and mother aren't in sight. Yet he can tell that by the fact that his father left the blanket and necklace that they just wandered or went on a stroll." Seems they went to wander a little bit. They will be back. My father wouldn't leave these here if they didn't plan on coming back."

Sati nodded a bit and watched him flutter those wings. They were truly fascinating to her and she admired the way they caught the light. It reminded her of the way dewdrops caught the light first thing in the morning after a rain. Like the whole world was covered with thousand of twinkling stars. She sighed a bit at her own imaginings and then focused on what he was saying.
She nodded in response and ducked her head under a branch. "I just wondered." she said. "I've yet to meet two families or herds that do the same thing as any other so I wondered what was traditional in your family. I find the values of other's families to be of interest and endless fascination." she shrugged a bit. "I suppose it just goes along with the fact I'm nosy." she smiled and laughed just a bit.
"I'm glad I do." she said. "Sometimes I think I come across as being sad about them or confused or..." she sighed softly. "I don't know...I suppose I'm going through a phase in which I'm baffled by my family and haven't sorted out how I fit in with them." she trailed off and focused on the path he lead her down. The woods were quite nice and smelled of loam and growing things.
When they entered the glade she looked around curiously, but remained a polite distance away from everything in order to resist the temptation to poke at anything. At his assurances his family would soon return she nodded and stretched out her wings as they'd started to cramp a bit from the walk under the trees. "It's a very nice glade." she said looking around again. "Very cozy. Safe...everything a home should be." she looked over and smiled at Emrys.

Emrys shrugs as he really wouldn't know about other families. To him his family is normal as he hasn't ventured away from his family to travel on his own yet." I hardly think that you are nosy. Just interested in a topic. So I wouldn't feel bad about seeking such information." He looks over at her." What sort of traditions does your herd do? Is herd life that different?"
He reaches over and fixes a part of her mane to put it the right way. Making sure not to pull or move in any way that could hurt her." You come off as someone that cares for their family very much. It's okay to not know your place yet. Sometimes figuring stuff out takes some time. You don't have to fit with them. Just have to be you. I think being true to oneself is something that is essential. One loses themselves when they try to become something they are not to gain the approval and acceptance of others."
Stopping close to a spot where the grass is taller he reaches down to where a puddle of purples and blues is curled up sleeping. " Hmmm... sleeping.. Bummer." Lifting his head he goes back to where Sati is." Seems my familiar is sleeping. Though I am sure after we are here for a while and he senses our presence he will wake. " He smiles and nods." Yes. This place has always been good to my family. It's home. Though someday I want to see more area's."

She smiled at his not thinking she was intruding to far with her questions and then considered her family. "We're mostly healers, so learning healing arts both magical and non are very important for all members. Even those who are not members of the healing circle are still expected to know how to tend to basic injuries. Once you come of a certain age, you're expected to take up an apprenticeship with one of the circles that fits your abilities. Sometimes individuals will be trained in multiple circles if they have aptitude. Once you finish your apprenticeship, you're moved up to journeyman, and so on and so forth until you become able to perform any job asked of you. Those who are very skilled are masters and they handle most of the teachings. It's all very organized." she said. "Although I suppose it had to be, our herd while not huge, was very large so there had to be order in order to keep track of so many members. I think that's why everyone was encouraged to have a focus, no idle hooves and all." she shrugged a bit.
She colored slightly as he fixed part of her mane. "Thank you." she said for both him fixing her mane and not to judge herself too harshly. "I think honestly that's why I left...I just didn't want to become too much like my parents. Possibly that's why my brother left too. The herd could be stifling. It's not that you couldn't be yourself there, just hard when so many want to be like everyone else, and if your parents are highly skilled you're...encouraged to follow them." she shook her head. "Honestly I haven't the patience to be a master healer like my parents, even if I have the skill." she laughed a bit.
She watched the stallion go over and nose something in the grass. It seemed at her distance to be a mass of purple and blues. She tilted her head slightly to get a better look but the grass around the figure was too tall for her to really see it without getting any closer. She looked at Emrys as he came back to her. "Best to let them sleep anyway. Never does to wake a sleeping familiar, lest they be cranky." she smiled a bit, then looked around the clearing. "There are some lovely sights not far from here. A huge lake with fish darting beneath the water, the plains that stretch out in all directions. So vast, you'll feel small...yet...not at the same time. It's a strange feeling to be out in the open and alone." she trailed off for a moment. "Oh, and the mountains! They're beautiful." she said. "Cold though...very cold!" she gave a smile.

Emrys listens curiously as she explains her herds ways of life. It's definitely different then the lifestyle in which he was raised with. Yet then again, his family isn't that big.. Though it has been growing as of late. Well from what his brother's word that he sent anyway. With adoptions and gifts that his brother and his mate found. He gazes at Sati and gives a sound of understanding." With a herd as large as you say. I guess I can understand their reasoning behind such organization. Though I feel like I would be in a foreign world at first. My family are all a mix of different breeds.. Well except Adelia and two of my siblings. They don't have traits of breeds that my father has. Though that doesn't mean that they aren't special in their own way. As far as I am aware. My father has small ability in basic healing. Though none of us are masters at anything."
He gives a smile at her." Well I am glad that you had realized such things about yourself. I can see the appeal in having a place in a herd. Having a use. Yet to sacrifice ones individuality is something I couldn't do personally. It's what makes us unique and everyone has their own purpose, wants and dreams. I can see how it can be stifling." He smiles as she talks of the different sights. Some he has heard of. The lake he had visited once.
"Sounds like you enjoy seeing beautiful sights. That you appreciate nature in it's most basic and primal form. I sometimes wonder what the two legged beings think as they look across such sights." He smiles." I bet it is cold. My wings would be shivering with how flimsy they are!" He chuckles and feels the small pressure of a smaller being against his legs. He looks down to see his familiar looking at the mare curiously." Amarath. This is Sati. Sati. This is my familiar Amarath."
Amarath looks at the mare as he stays by his friends side. Curious as to this new mare's presence. " Hello.. Nice to meet you.. He hasn't been yaking your ear off has he? He tends to ramble."

Sati laughed just a bit. "Trust me sometimes just walking from one enclave of one circle to another is like entering a whole different world! While the basic structure is the same, something that was completely acceptable in one group will be unacceptable to another, like humming to yourself while you work. I personally can't stand utter silence so it was painful if I was sent to work with the crafters who handled making remedies. Their master wasn't one for idle chatter or humming." she shook her head at the now funny memories.
"It's so different, to see families of so many breeds. At home it was unicorns, kirins. There were mixed breeds like myself but we were definitely a minority." she nodded at his explanation of abilities. "It's hard work if you ever wish to focus on it. Lots of long hours learning to concentrate and block out all distractions, knowing when it's better to use remedies over magic and how much magic to use." she sighed just a bit.
She smiled back as he indicated he understood her frustration with her home life. Some days she missed it of course, mostly when she was lonely on the road, but there were days she definitely was happier on her own. "Thank you, for that. It's nice to talk to someone who understands."
She nodded vigorously. "Yes, I do! Travel has been quite broadening to my horizons and I do often wonder myself what others would think of the things I've seen. The good and bad, because you can't have one without the other and it's seeing the bad that lets you appreciate the good more."
She jumped just slightly as she realized the sleeping croc was now awake and staring at her. She regained her composure and smiled at the pink and blue creature. "A pleasure." she said bobbing her head politely, then laughed. "Have no fear of that. I am much the same and have been afraid on more than one occasion I have gone on far too long on one topic or another."

Emrys makes a slight sound of fascination and astonishment. Different rules for different groups? That's weird to him. And no humming in some? That's crazy to him. He tells his stories but truthfully. He just doesn't like being alone. He prefers to be around other beings. " That is just so strange to me. I honestly can't stand silence for too long.. and usually keep in company of others."
He shrugs as he reaches down and fixes the necklace that is around the mountain lions tail. It's a bit too big on the purple and blue lion. Yet the lion likes the little jewelry. He looks at Sati and nods." I personally don't have the ability for doing magic. With four different breeds they cancel each other out. Yet even so.. I don't think I would be a good prospect for any magic ability. I get distracted far too easily."
He looks into the distance as he thinks of what she must have seen. In that moment he wishes that he could travel. Yet he knows himself. The prospect of going alone daunts him and he pushes the thought away." I can only imagine! Maybe someday I will travel.. I just.. I just don't like the idea of traveling by myself. I like the company of others too much. Does that make sense?" He looks at her in that moment. Hoping that she would understand. In a way he admires her for being able to travel alone on her quest to find her brother. He knows he certainly isn't brave enough to do such a thing by himself.
Amarath walks around the mare just inspecting." She has a similar tail to yours Emrys." He grins and sits down again. " The same huh? Well that's nice. Guess no need to apologize for his ramblings then."

"I'm very much the same, but..." she shrugged a bit as to indicate that everyone was entitled to their own choices and styles of life.
She watched him fix the necklace and then frowned slightly. "Is that so? I never thought about that, but I suppose if you had too many magical talents mixing they would start to nullify. I surprisingly can use my horn...I actually find humming under my breath to be very beneficial for keeping my focus. Strange I know, but it's true." she laughed a bit.
She nodded. "It does. I was leery myself when I started my journey, I'd have no companions at all and there are nights I wish I'd never left home!" she shook her head a bit. "But...leaving home was the best thing that ever happened to me. Just taking that first step was so...uplifting." she glanced over at him and leaned over just slightly and gave him a nudge. "Someday I'm sure. Just...you'll know the day when it comes, you'll wake up and just...know it's time to take that step. It's not a bad thing that day hasn't come yet." she smiled at him.
She glanced back at her tail and then at the stallions. That was very true, that they had the same tail. She hadn't even thought about previously. She smiled at the gator and nodded. "Please don't. I've enjoyed speaking to Emrys very much."

Emrys nods." I think it is so. I cannot shrink to the size that a full flutter can. Nor heal like a unicorn. If I do shrink it is just by a few inches. So I've learned other ways to go about things. It is true that to some silence is preferred.. But to others.. Some can't handle the silence.. and I personally find having a sound around me will help me focus.Helps to make whimsical stories to please others." He listens to her and thinks on it." I feel that my time is drawing near.. Though it is great to hear of your journey and how taking that step has helped you so much. To grow into your skin so to speak. I don't think it is a bad thing either. What you say. Though perhaps if you want company. Maybe in some way I could help you find your sibling? I can only imagine that while you are in the air it gets noisy.. Perhaps.. someone on the ground could hear if there are people nearby or even just to have someone to talk to.. Though I certainly wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable with that notion. I just brought it up as an idea.." He blushes and looks at Amarath his mountain lion familiar. Amarath looks at Sati and nods." Well I am glad he is behaving.... WHAT? EMRYS! You should know better than to ask that. Now things will be awkward."
