As quietly as one could move on hooves, the blue fuzzy faun slipped into the hideout and cast a wary eye around. Other than a single Prinny sweeping in the corner, he saw no other signs of life. Good.
Foolish thing. It did realize the floors were made of dirt...right? That its job would never be done if it was trying to sweep away the dirt? Rolling his eyes, he slipped away towards the room designated as 'his' in the humble hideout. They weren't the smartest subordinates. Explained why the screeching banshee was so glad to have him around. Even when he was rebelling, he was still more obedient than these things. Course, they could be awfully lazy too, from what he'd seen.
His room was a sanctuary, his space among all the crap that she claimed was hers. She acted like it was so good of her to let him have this. As if he should be satisfied with this. Ha! Just cause she was bigger...hell, he was just about as big as her by now. That meant he was nearly full grown, right? Course.
No, he wanted more than some side room in an over-glorified underground burrow, thanks. It didn't matter how many shiny things she left strewn about to dress the place up. They were still living in a hole.
Living in a dirty hole with a bunch of bird-brained servants. He'd had enough. Enough that he'd been journeying further and further from 'home' as it were, looking for something...anything to provide an escape from this pitiful existence. He'd caught some hell from Etna for his absences, usually when she wanted something and the Prinnies failed to deliver. But it had all been worth it in the end. Snagging a pack that they'd 'liberated' from some oblivious hiker, he started filling the bag with his meager belongings. A shiny stone. A jar with a butterfly inside. A necklace made of sharp teeth. A child's treasures, but they were all he had to his name. For now.
Hurriedly, he trotted out to grab some food from the stores and packed it around his personal things. Enough for the journey and a little extra. He'd have settled in by then and hopefully have no more reason to come back here. The Dark Forest held many secrets, but also bounties for those who knew how to find them. Or knew others who knew how at least. He didn't need this place anymore. He'd have his own minions. Better minions.
Swinging the pack over his shoulder, he tested the weight and balance. Good enough. He wanted to get out of here before the screeching female got back. Easier that way. He trotted towards the door, the sweeping Prinny to the side of the exit. His current path was heading for the exit, so Kerne paused, narrowing his eyes at the bird-like demon. As he started to block the way, the faun raised a hand and shoved the bird aside, trotting up the narrow stairway towards the surface and freedom without looking back.
"Well! That's just rude, dood!"
