Hemera wrung her hands nervously, her orange eyes scanning the busy street for a sign of a white set of ears or a flick of a white tail. The females tail flicked from side to side with obvious discomfort, occasionally hitting the glass door of the cafe behind her. The black cat had asked Felix to meet her here for coffee...or decafe tea in her case. Windows sparkled with the glimmer of the spring sunset and busy people dashed two and fro as she waited. Always punctual Hemera had arrived at least 15 minutes before her proposed meeting time, the worry of the news she had to tell him making her to anxious to sit still.
The female had previously been looking forward to their next meeting. After all they had been friends for so long. Then to meet by chance that night was just...luck? Fate? Hemera hadn't been sure at the time. Now she was even less so. The tom was always sweet and kind to her but she had never had to give him such life changing news before. And so she stood, wrapping in loose turtleneck dress, her long black hair blowing in the wind as she waited.

He was about fifteen minutes later for their meeting, but he swore he had a good reason. Felix was actually helping a kitten named Haru Haru figure out where to go for hunting. Apparently she wanted to prove she could do things by herself, and who was he to turn down a female who needed help? Still, the albino cat rushed toward the meeting place as fast as his paws could carry him.
Since the party he hadn't seen Hermera, so he was curious what the big deal with this meeting was. When he finally got there, he shifted to his other form, wearing those baggy pants but no shirt, white hair falling into red eyes and he greeted the female with a smile on his lips. "There she is, Ms. America~" He sang out with a laugh. He moved over to hug her and then pulled away to take a seat. "Did you want to tell me how much fun we had the other night?" He beamed, teasing her lightly before shaking his head.

The females posture and expression softened when she saw him approach. The tiniest bit of doubt had been slowly making its way into her mind as she waiting there. What if he didn't show up? What if he never wanted to see her again? Then what would she do? Hemera wasn't sure if she could do this on her own. Eyes softened in relief and happiness when she saw his white tail flicking through the crowd. Of course he would show up! How could you ever doubt him? Tanned lips smiled back and giggled as he sang to her.
"Hi Felix." she responded, her voice soft with nerves that were calming slightly when the tom embraced her in a hug. Maybe...maybe things would be okay? She sat down delicately in her seat and waited as he sat down opposite her. Hemera couldn't help but relax when he was about, his bright and happy personality lighting up the room. "well..." she began, unsure how to even bring the news up. It was going to be a shock to him no matter what but maybe it would be best to ease him into that. "I did want to tell you that." she said, trying to keep the tone relatively light. "But...um...I need to tell you something...something from that night..." she trailed off, her orange eyes looking down at the table, unable to meet his red ones.

Something was serious. His head tilted to the side and his tail flicked before he reached out to take her hand in his, giving it a light squeeze. Felix was just trying to comfort her right now. "Yeah? It was pretty fun." He gave her a playful wink before thumbing her knuckles. The poor girl looked so scared and worried. It started to affect him a bit and his ears dipped low. "Hey, if you need help, I'm there, okay? We're friends."

Hemera looked up at him and took a deep breath. "Yes...yes we're friends..." she said softly, her orange eyes welling up slightly. This was no time to cry, she though to herself, you'll just upset him and he'll be even more worried about you. Do you want your friend to worry about you? She cocked her head to the side, trying her best to smile as she did. "Help...yeah I guess I might need some help.." she started, her stomach in knots as she spoke. No time like the present. "About that night...well...Felix I'm pregnant..." her voice trailing off as she finally got the words out, tears escaping as she looked at him.

Her worry shifted and tears were in her eyes and Felix made a small distressed noise. He shifted around the table to get closer to her, slipping an arm around her shoulder. Slowly the white male pulled her head to his shoulder and he just stroked down her sides, even after she came clean.
Pregnant? His eyes widened at that and then he pushed his face into his free hand before rubbing it vigorously. Oh lord have mercy. Kittens! He.. didn't think he was ready for that, but here he was. He was a bit shocked, to say the least. He cleared his throat a bit and just held her tighter to his side. "Uh...You're... sure you're pregnant?" Of course they were his. Hemera wouldn't lie about that, but what was he supposed to say right now?

Once she had said it as a fact the more real the news felt to her. Before this it had simply been something that existed in her mind, only her problem and not even a problem yet. But now she had said it outloud the new was very real. It was now fact. Hemera was pregnant and pregnant with her childhood friends kits at that.
She left her head on his shoulder, her long black hair falling on his chest. How could a night that was just so perfect end up like this? She nodded slowly, her lips curling into a sad smile. "I'm positive...5 positive tests can't be wrong can they?" she wasn't sure what to say or do so she just left her head there, letting the news hang in the air.

He took a breath and just rubbed his face again and just stroked her side a bit more. Well. Five tests couldn't be wrong. He bit down on his lip a bit before shaking his head and put his chin on the top of her head. "Mm.. Well... Seems like we're going to be parents. I'll.. Be there for you. Help you. They're.. mine too so I can't just abandon you and them, can I?" He laughed a little, trying to lighten the mood a bit. Things could have been a lot worse. he just wrapped both arms around her now and hugged her fully.
Yeah, Felix was worried about this. He didn't know how to be a parent, didn't know how to handle a pregnant female, but damn it. He was raised to take responsibility. "I'll help."

Her orange eyes watched him, worried about what his reaction might be. What she was most afraid of was being alone and losing him as a friend, after just having him back in her life again. She closed her eyes, tears falling from them onto her face. His words rang in her ears. Parents. They were going to be parents. She nuzzled her face into him as he hugged her and laughed lightly. "Well in theory you could but...I knew you wouldn't..." she finished, her lips curling into the smallest of smiles. Deep down she knew that he wouldn't abandon her. She knew that she could rely on him. "Thank you"

He just kept her close and rubbed down her side and back in a soothing way. Slowly he kissed the top of her head and just hummed a little. "Well, I could, but I'm not an a*****e." Felix looked a little sheepish, stroking a finger over her cheek before starting to rock her.
"So. Kittens..." He laughed a little and looked up at the sky. "I wasn't... expecting that."

Hemera smiled as he spoke, the tension that had been building since she had found out starting to ease slightly. This wasn't going to be easy, that was a given but it could be a lot worse. At least it was with a cat that she could rely on. "And you don't know how glad I am right now that you're not an a*****e." she laughed. "I know this was probably the last thing you expected to happen when I asked you to meet me here today." The rocking motion helped calm her and with time her tears stopped. Her orange eyes looked up at him as he spoke and she couldn't help but laugh a little too. "Tell me about it. Two kids can't just have a little fun without consequences right?"
