Kyou walked back to the couples little home, a phesant clutched in his orange jaw. Minagi hadn't been feeling herself lately and the male was worried about her. His partner was rarely sick and he wasn't sure how to make her feel better. He knocked on the door gently before letting himself into their home. "Hi love, how're you doing?" he asked, placing their dinner in the cooking area.
Minagi lay curled on the nest she had made for herself, it was a collage of furs, fabrics and feathers they had collected over the last several weeks since settling here. She smiled up at her mate with bleary eyes. "Better today." she said making herself sit up and wincing slightly. she finally had to admit to herself what was going on, she had realized it a few nights ago. But how was she to tell him?
Kyou walked over to her and settled beside her, whiping some of the blood from his mouth on the back of his hand before kissing her on the forehead. He smiled but still looked upon her with worried eyes. "Don't push yourself if you're still not feeling okay. I'll be making us dinner tonight anyway." he said, his voice laced with worry. His mate had seemed to only be getting worse over the last few weeks and although Kyou was quite insistant on bringing her to a doctor he had listened to her protests and has not called one.
Minagi smiled and laid her head on Kyou's shoulder. "I'm fine, the sickness will pass soon. That is unless I'm very unlucky and it lasts another several weeks." she chuckled a bit nervously. "I'd never be able to get this place ready in time."
Kyou looked down at his mate, stroking her hair gently. She seemed in better spirits atleast, which was good, but he wasn't sure what she was talking about. "Getting this place ready? Ready for what?" he asked, his voice soft, noting the nervousness in Minagi's voice. He looked around their home. It was small sure but it was perfect for the two of them.
Minagi sat silent for a moment. A million different ways to tell him flashed thorugh her mind. His reaction was the thing that worried her. Sure they talked about a family one day, but was this too soon? They hadn't even been back that long. "For our family." she said finally, taking his hand and placing it on her stomach and looking up at him with tears in her eyes.
Kyou's eyes widened as she spoke, first with confusion and then with understanding as his hand was gently placed on his mates stomach. Suddenly the last few weeks made sense, he had been around pregnant females before and they were often quite ill in the beginning. But his mate...his Minagi...pregnant? He stared at her, his orange eyes large, not sure what to say. And then...and then he noticed that her eyes were filled with tears. His mouth curled into a crooked smile and he looked at her with wonder. "Our...our family? Minagi I just...I love you..." he trailed off, pulling her head into his chest and hugging her, unable to convay his feelings any other way.
Minagi wrapped her arms around Kyou's middle smiling, crying happily. She knew he wouldn't be mad, but the concept was still scary. Them as parents? They were so rough and tumble, did they have it in them to be tender and soft like they needed to be for kittens? "Do you think you're ready for the sound of little paws?"
Kyou stroked her hair softy, kissing the top of her head over and over again. He was unable to express his feelings in words, a problem the male often had with strong emotions. He wasn't sure if he was ready. He had spent so long working on himself, he wasn't sure if he would ever be good enough to raise their kittens. But he was sure, and had always been sure, that Minagi would be an amazing mother and so he would make sure he was ready. He smiled softly, stroking her back. "Right now...I'm not so sure but...I'll do my everything to be ready for when they arrive." he said, his voice warm and full of pride at his amazing mate.
Minagi gave Kyou a tight squeeze. "You know I can feel them squirming around in there. It only just started a few days ago." She looked down at her stomach, awed at the fact that she was harboring little kittens in here, life dwelled within her. "I wonder how many are in there." she pondered.
Kyou looked at her stomach, almost with a sense of awe. The idea that there were kittens in there was just, such an amazing truth. "you...you can feel them? That's amazing. Wow..." he responded. As the news started to settle the more excited he got. It was only a few minutes ago that he was worried about Minagi, thinking that she might be so ill she was dying. Instead...she...they were going to have a family. Of course Minagi still needed to be looked after and protected, even more so now. His smile broadened. "Hopefully enough that we can handle them" he said with a grin.
Minagi giggled. "Being out children, they're bound to be a handful and a half!" the feeling of unease and fear, was finally subsiding. They could start getting ready, together for his new adventure. They'd have so much to learn and share, and grow within themselves. "So what do you want Kyou? Boys, girls? What if there are six of them in there?!" she said blue eyes growing wide.
Kyou laughed, placing his hand back onto her stomach and leaning back. "Rememeber how much trouble we got into? They're only going to be worse!" he said with a laugh. They had gone through some serious stuff together in the past. What was a new challange? Especially such a happy one. Sure a few more years could have been nice to get their lives together but fate had other plans. "If there are six please gods let them all be girls." he said with a sharp laugh. "six boys would just be too much!" he kissed her again softly. "How long do we have to wait to meet them love?"
Minagi laughed loudly at Kyou. "I dunno Kyou, girls are pretty devious! I was a hell of a trouble maker when I was a kitten." She did remember their romps as kids, it was amazing they had come so desperately far since then. She had never known when she met the foul tempered, distrusting little boy that Kyou had once been that they would have fallen in love and he would open his soft heart to her like he did. "I would say another fortnight. I'm getting bigger already, but I'm not too far along."
Kyou laughed. "Don't I know it! But at least little girls are less likely to get themselves killed doing dangerous things...as long as they don't have terrible influences like you did!" he said with a cheeky grin. He was amazed to think that this was their story. They had both come so far and now...they were going to be a full family. "You're getting bigger already?" he said, his smiled widening. "Give us a twirl then. I want to see."
Minagi nodded. "Very true, you're just more likely to wake up with your hand glues to the side of your face for falling alseep and not paying enough attention." she smiled wiht a devilish grin. It took her a moment but she forced herself to her feet. With a chill still in the air she had bundled up in a large chunky sweater that was less than flattering. It was plenty warm in the hut however so she stripped it off to the plain tshirt she had beneath which was growing tight around the little bump she had emerging. It was going to get much bigger, very quickly over the next few weeks and she knew it.
Kyou laughed. "As long as they don't do stupid things that almost get them killed I'll happily wake up with my hands glued to my face any day of the week. After all I think at the very minimum the roll of a parent is to prevent their kittens from killing themselves." he said with a laugh. Kyou watched her, still worried about his mates well being. However he was aware that it became difficult to move around when preganant and he would have to give her a hand whenever he could. He got up himself and grinned broadly. "I never thought you could get more beautiful and yet...there you go being more beautiful than ever." he said, looking at her with amazement before wrapping himself around her and kissing her deeply.
Minagi wrapped herself up in Kyou, kissing him back smiling. This was exactly what she wanted from life. The perfect mate, a nice little private home all to themselves and now they were going to have their own little family. She couldn't have wished for more.
