The World Champions take: This was mostly for The Big 3 ((WWE, WCW, ECW)) and you can add TNA as well. Sort of aimed for the larger scaled companies.
Reason for the WWE:ECW Championship not being included is because of the fact that no one really gave a damn about ECW once we realized how much it would suck. Guys like Chavo and Ezekiel Jackson held that title, would you consider them World Champ status?
I see it as this, and I'm going to start from the first WWECW champion to the last, I'm not going to do their multiple reigns..
RVD - Almost absolutely a world champion, should've won it earlier
Big Show - Already an established World Champion
Lashley - Used to elevate him, as the next big guy.
Vince - Was already a world champion prior, even though this specifically designed to put over Lashley more.
Morrison - Originally Benoit was supposed to win, we all know the story, and this win put Morrison on the map even more so than ever
Punk - WWE ECW was specifically designed to elevate Punk, and he was an established champion prior in the indies
Chavo - While I personally don't see him as a world champion, even despite his lineage, and longevity. This was a political thing, given to him because of his years of service.
Kane - Already an established world champion, nuff said
Mark Henry - While it was a shame he should've won the WHC, title sooner this 'did' elevate Henry quite a bit, and the debut of that Platinum ECW belt is pretty awesome.
Matt Hardy - Shame he could never get out of his brother's shadow, Matt Hardy DID make this championship reign work for him.
Jack Swagger - While I never saw this championship fit Swagger, in a way I can understand the 'why'. Swagger was set to be the next big guy, ECW was phasing out from Extreme to 'New' Talent, Sheamus was on Raw now, so they wanted to recognize newer talent. Right around this point the championship started to be around the same level as the IC/US championships.
Christian - Already an established NWA World Champion, even if he himself doesn't count it. This win was designed to establish Christian as the 'top' guy in ECW, considering Orton and Edge were 'the' top guys on the other shows. This win not only elevated Christian, but also made it so he could be in a top spot that he deserved prior to TNA
Dreamer - Already a world champion from the original ECW (even if he didn't want it). The story being that if Dreamer lost, he'd quit. However it was more of a 'thank you for your service' title win, than anything. The storyline 'did' help elevate the championship from the Swagger win, if anything.
Big Zeke - His win was purposely designed to go ******** you ECW, it's time for NXT. It did absolutely nothing to elevate him, if anything it buried him like the tables he buried Christian in the tables that he won the championship in.
While I can agree with you in the instances of Chavo, Zeke, etc. I look at the literal sense of the definition and championship.
