 Some say that magic was born when the first human cried into the night's sky. Some say it's a gift from the power (singular or otherwise) that formed us. Others say that it is the work of darkness. Every culture has their own myth and every culture treats it in their own way. The truth is that no one knows how magic came into the world. The only thing that people, some people at least, do know is that it exists.
Over the centuries as magic started to be viewed in the Western European world and all it's colonies as something to be feared and hated, the practice of it had to be kept a secret. When it wasn't, people burned...or drowned...or were hanged. Heck, some people were chopped into tiny pieces. Which meant that for everyone's sake people sequestered or denied their gifts until it seemed to have died out. Or at the very least been reduced to almost nothing.
Under certain circumstances, however, magic couldn't be denied it's expression. In eight different people magic has found a conduit. And the chosen path this time springs from the four corners - the elements. Each of them born under a certain year when the sun and moon positions were ever so in order to make a singular element the dominant force in their life. Now they are connected to one another through their bloodlines.
Just like many times before in history they're being drawn together. This time it's in a respectable college community where they have all chosen, in some shape or form, to congregate towards. The closer they get, the stronger their magic will become. Until it's too late to deny its existence as coincidences. They will be able to do wonderful things, or terrible things together. And many different forces will reawaken with them to conspire to use their magic for their own purposes.
After all...magic always comes at a price dearies.

This will be a Lazy Literate Roleplay. That means you are expected to post 8 to 10 sentences per post minimum with an attempt at grammar and spelling. And at this level you should know better than to god mode. If a fight breaks out between characters please talk about it in the OOC, Chat Room, or through pms. If a conclusion can not be reached there, please bring it to me and I will weigh in with an objective point of view.

You should try to post once a week unless there's something holding you up. If that's the case, just let us know by posting in the chat thread. As for posting formats you need to have a picture of your character in the post along with their general location somewhere near the top. Do not post anything under size 11 and please avoid hard to see colors. The picture (real life representatives) you choose for your character in your posting format should represent the character - do not have a slutty picture and play a chaste character type of deal.

ＣＨＡＲＡＣＴＥＲ ＲＵＬＥＳ
You may have only one characters at a time for now. This character will be from one of the 8 roles. The characters ages vary based on their element because of the year they were born, but this variation has already been chosen. The roleplay is going to be set during the general college time, though we won't play through classes unless you want to, so it would probably be to your benefit to have them be a student in some manner. Please do not make them so anti-social that they can't be worked into interactions as that's no fun for anyone involved.
There will be a male and a female role available for each element. I will not allow an element to have two people of the same sex. If you want to play an intersex person that's fine, but then the gender should align with the open sex role.
If you have to leave the roleplay for personal reasons or if I have to remove you for disorderly conduct, then your character will die within the roleplay context. That is so that their power is passed on to a new character and thus the role becomes opened once more.

ＭＡＧＩＣ ＳＹＳＴＥＭ
This roleplay's magic system will be based more towards shows like The Secret Circle than Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Listed below are the individual, active powers (think like supernatural/mutant powers) of the Witches.
The Earth Witches will have active powers related to the earth. This means that they may show individuals powers with botany and seismic activity as they progress. This means that they have the more successful potions.
The Air Witches have active powers related to air. This means that they will be able to move objects through the air as well as levitate themselves and others as their powers progress. They have the most easily accessible active powers.
The Fire Witches have active powers related to Fire. This means that they will be able to conjure and control all forms of heat and energy such as electricity as they develope. The have the ability to channel energy into spells the easiest.
The Water Witches have active powers related to water. This means that they will be able to control the movement of water as well as what state it appears in. They will have more successful healing and divination magic.
These do not including what spells or potions they might know. The spells and powers will stem from their knowledge and how much preparation they put into them. Each character will have their own unique Book of Shadows also known as a Grimoires. Because of this, they will not possess every spell. In fact, you will get to take part in the creation of the magic that your character may learn. So how much work you're willing to put into research and creating things will be reflected in how much your character will get to know.

ＳＰＥＬＬ ｏｒ ＰＯＴＩＯＮ ＣＲＥＡＴＩＯＮ
To create a spell or a potion you will need to decide on multiple factors. The first thing you need to decide on is the intended use of the spell or potion. Maybe a quick description of what it can do.
The second thing is that you need to think about the timing that it should be made or preformed. Spells, more often then potions, often need specific times in which to be preformed. Things to consider when picking a time is the phase of the moon, the time of the day, the time of the year, or the position of certain planets.
The third thing you need to consider is if there are any ingredients involved. For a potion this is required. For spells you may want to consider it as most spells, historically, still required natural substances to be preformed. Things you'll want to consider is the properties of the plants, if you're using them. Both the physical properties such as medical uses as well as any noted magical properties practiced by different cultures. Other substances (like cords, candles, or such) you'll want to consider the symbolism they represent and how that might add to the spell.
The forth thing is the procedure of the spell or potion. The stronger magic should be more complicated and thus take more time or energy to evoke. There might also be parts of spells or potions that must be constructed in different parts. Maybe they have to be maintained? This also includes if it has to be done as a group. Just because one Witch might have it in their Book of Shadows does not mean that they can do all the spells solo. The more witches involved, the stronger the spell. The strongest levels of magic will require a circle or coven of Witches working on it. Basically - there are a lot of things to think about that may add a uniqueness in how it's done.
The last thing to consider is if there are any words or mantras associated with your intended piece of magic. This is usually just for spells instead of potions.
Finally, after you've gotten all of that together send all that information over to me in a pm titled "MAGIC!". I will review it and we'll talk about it. If or when it gets okayed, you're clear to add it to your character's Book of Shadows.
How you want to do that is up to you. Feel free to look at my characters (the linked image above of the first book with the rose on it) for examples of how I've done mine.

ＡＵＧＵＳＴ 15ＴＨNew Freshmen are pouring in from around the country, around the world really with the start of the new year coming up in 16 days. Local townspeople are preparing the the influx of business and are setting up celebrative activities for the new school year to help the students with one last hurrah.
