Michael's hands shook as he fumbled over his keys while standing outside of his apartment. His hair was a mess; knotted and falling into his face in messy strands. Dark shadows sunk in under both of his glossy pale-blue eyes. Finally getting the door open, he passed the kitchen and ignored the eviction notice sitting on the ugly stained counter. Michael didn't turn any lights on, he just fell into a crumpled mess on the old grayish green colored couch. His head tilted back and his half closed eyes focused on the ceiling. Hours passed but Michael barely moved, only occasionally blinking or scratching his wrist. He practically drooled, just laying there like he was a piece of furniture, no different than the old couch.

 ♡ Getting up out of bed, Tegan quickly got herself ready for her day off this week. She finally got a few days off this week after 13 days in a row of working and she was planning on hanging out with her good friend Michael. Once she was ready, she walked out of the small two bed room house she rented and got into her car and headed to Michael's apartment.
Getting to the apartment, Tegan got out of her car and walked up to Michael's front door. Noticing a bright yellow paper hung on the doorknob, she pulled it off and unlocked the door with her spare key. "Michael?" She called out, reading the small piece of paper saying that Michael needed to pack up his things and get out of the apartment in the next 3 days. Walking over to the living room after she checked for him in his room, Tegan found him laying on the couch. Michael looked like a complete mess. Groaning, she walked closer to him and set the paper on the coffee table and slapped the boys cheek. "Get up." Tegan said, she knew he was high, which made her mad because this boy didn't need to be doing such a thing. Now she had an idea why he was getting evicted.

Michael groaned and through a groggy haze managed smiled at Tegan. "What time is it?" he asked while scratching his wrist. He stood up, but not without loosing his balance for a second and stumbling. To be honest he was pretty gross looking and needed a serious shower. He took a step back from Tegan and his glossy eyes went wide. Micheal's eyes darted around the apartment at the walls melting around him. His look snapped back to his friend and everything was normal again. He let out a breath that he hadn't realized he'd been holding and his fingers twitched. "What day is it?" he asked adding to his first question before he gave the girl a chance to answer.

♡ Tegan watched the boy slowly wake up, she groaned, already annoyed with him and crossed her arms. "It's two in the afternoon on a Friday." She said watching the boy get up and almost fall on his a**. Handing the boy the bright yellow piece of paper that was hanging from the doorknob before she got here. "You're getting evicted, dumb a**." Tegan didn't want her friend to be like this, he was smart and should have gone to college. But he got caught up on all of the drugs around town and let everything go down hill. "Lets get packing, lets go.. um. Find some boxes." She said and adjusted the bag that hung across her body. Taking a step closer to the boy, she noticed how greasy his hair was and he didn't smell too good either. "But first, you're taking a shower." Tegan said and pushed him over to the bathroom.

Michael let himself be pushed into the bathroom. He was still in a fog and having a hard time figuring out what was going on but he closed the bathroom door and got into the shower.
Micheal got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist. He combed his hair in the mirror and walked out of the bathroom. He picked up the eviction notice and looked at for a few second. Micheal sighed, it was a good thing Tegan came over because he probably would have ignored it until it was too late. He looked down at all the small red dot marks on his forearm and and felt instantly guilty. Michael quickly through on boxers and jeans and walked out into the kitchen looking for Tegan.

♡ Tegan was now leaning on one of the kitchen counters with a notepad and a pen hanging from her lips. She was currently searching on her phone for places that gave out boxes for free and for a low cost. She had to call a few and ask them about it and get their address but so far she had around four places that gave out free boxes and another place that gave boxes for just a small price. Hearing the water from the bathroom turn off, she waited for him to get dressed and walk out of his room. Once he walked out shirtless, Tegan noticed the tiny red dots on his arms and her eyebrows furrowed. Taking a step closer to him, she grabbed onto his arm to get a closer look at them. Needle marks. "Michael, are you kidding me?!" Tegan yelled at him and let go of his arm. Taking a few steps back from him, she shook her head. What was he doing? Heroin? Meth? "Michael this s**t is ruining your life, do you realize drugs is a main reason why you're getting evicted?" Tegan said, trying her hardest not to yell at him again. Placing a finger on each temple, she let out a groan. "Can you ever get sober? I'm tired of seeing you like this."

Michael tried desperately to avoid making eye-contact with Tegan and lightly tugged his arm away. "I'm fine, its nothing." he murmured and finally looked up at her. Seeing the concern on her face made his whole body fill with guilt. It was like he'd swallowed a ball of lead and it was just sitting in the pit of his stomach and taking away his ability to speak. Micheal took a step back from his friend "I-I I'll be right back" He looked her in the eye for only a second before turning around and going back into the bathroom. He pulled open a drawer in the bathroom. The drawer was empty besides the piles of assorted pills loosely rolling around. He grabbed helplessly at the bottom of the drawer taking four or maybe even more different pills and shoving them down his throat. Micheal closed the drawer and put his head under the faucet to gulp down water before wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He stood hunched over the sink in front of the mirror.

♡ Crossing her arms, Tegan watched the boy try not to keep eye contact with her. Watching the boy walk into the bathroom, Tegan shook her head. Who knew what he was doing in there or what he was hiding. When he walked back out to the kitchen, Tegan bit down on her lip. "You do realize that you don't have anywhere to live, right?" She would offer Michael to stay at her place while he looked around, but she didn't want him coming home higher then a kite. And she didn't need that stuff in her house. There was an extra room that would fit all of his stuff since he didn't have much, but Tegan couldn't. Only if Michael could quit doing drugs and be sober, sober, sober, sober. "I'll let you stay at my house in the spare bedroom if you get and stay sober." Tegan offered Michael, this was a great idea! If he lived at her house, he'd have to be sober all of the time. She could even give him surprise drug test to make sure if she was having doubts.

Michael frowned. Everything would be so much easier if she wasn't so nice to him. Why did someone have to care? He knew he was a deadbeat and always would be. A drug addicted deadbeat who lost his job and didn't even tell his only friend. He stared at the blonde girl standing in the apartment he was about to get kicked out of and he couldn't help but look completely miserable. Michael couldn't even think of a time he'd done anything for Tegan and there she was offering to let him stay with her. He didn't think he could stay clean even if it meant having a roof over his head. She looked so excited that even the though of letting her down was upsetting "Tegan, I don't want to promise you something that I don't know if I can do" Michael shifted his weight uncomfortably "I don't want to ruin everything for you too" he looked away from her, avoiding eye-contact again

♡ Michael seemed like he didn't want to stay at Tegan's place, like he was trying to avoid it at all cost. "Where are you going to stay then? You gunna live on the streets?" Tegan asked, Michael could possibly become sober by staying with her. "It's not hard to get sober, Michael. I've gone through it with my mom. I'll be there for you." She sighed, Tegan knew how to deal with people trying to become sober, the withdrawals, everything. "Michael, I just want you to be safe and get sober." She told him, trying to calm down. Tegan wanted to change the subject, but she cared for her friend and wanted to make sure that he was in a safe place instead of at some random meth house or on the streets. She wanted him to get sober, get back to working, and get his own apartment again. Tegan knew it was going to be hard, but she only wanted the best for him. "Lets just go and get these boxes, okay?" She said and grabbed all of her things along with the piece of paper with the addresses of where she was going to get boxes from. "Go put a shirt on and I'll meet you in my car." And with that, Tegan walked out of the apartment and headed to her car.

Michael nodded and went to go grab a shirt. Tegan was right, it wasn't like there was anywhere else he could go and he needed to pack up all his stuff anyway so getting boxes was probably the best place to start. Michael put on a black and white graphic T-shirt and pulled on a black zip-up hoodie over it to cover his arms. He grabbed his keys, wallet and phone off of the nightstand and stuffed it into his pants pockets before heading outside to meet Tegan. He walked around the passengers side of Tegan's car and climbed into the seat. He let out a stressed out sigh and looked up at his friend "I'd be so screwed without you, Tegan" He leaned forward in his seat and rubbed his face in an attempt to not get overwhelmed with everything that was going on. "I mean it, thanks for everything"
