Way to go Texas. You're driving us even more backwards in that rust bucket of a time machine you got there.
I'm just so freaking livid on this. And if passed, it's set to go into effect in September. Guess I have to use the girl's bathroom from now on. :c
It pisses me off hardcore. I think it's a good roundtable topic too although I don't think I'm the best authority to start a discussion given I present primarily female and no one is going to kick me out of the girl's room (unless someone decides I look to masculine and decides to be a d**k, which has happened to other women before).
This crap is happening in FL too, I've seen it called "papers to pee." Yet I sure don't see the same politicians driving to get changing tables in "male" bathrooms - are they going to arrest every single father now? I have a parent with medical issues that has caused them to duck into the first bathroom available PERIOD, will someone with a stick up their a** try to charge them for going into the "wrong" bathroom?
This is not only about punishing trans folks, this is also what right-wing is hanging their hat on because they know attempting to stop gay marriage is a lost cause. The bills not only talk about charging trans people but individuals who knowingly allow them to use a public facility, i.e. a restaurant or building manager - they're trying to get money any way they can.
