This thread is all about XANA's monsters that were created to prevent the Lyoko warriors from being able to stop his ambition.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 09, 2015 2:06 am

Krabs, resemble large mechanical crabs with four long slender scythe-like legs used for climbing and crawling along very steep slopes. Krabs' weak spots are the Eye of X.A.N.A. on the back of their heads. Their first laser is a base triple laser that is difficult to aim. Their second weapon is the same laser fired beneath it, and their third weapon is a bright blue beam of electricity also fired beneath it. This beam is believed to cause instant devirtualization when it strikes a foe. However, no one has ever been hit by the beam. They also have the ability to fire standard lasers from the lower set of lenses in a rapid battery, each dealing only 10 hp of damage.

Krabs can also use their long scythe-like legs as their third weapon which can cause instant devirtualization. This has never happened on Lyoko either. However, when they were materialized in the real world in the episode A Bad Turn, the Krabs used their legs to pin their victims to the ground. In the same episode, Ulrich was almost killed when a Krab nearly decapitated him, but was saved by an uncanny Tower Deactivation. Krabs usually travel and co-operate in groups of two to three, but are able to defend themselves alone. Because they are frequently used by X.A.N.A., Krabs are often defeated fairly easily by the Lyoko Warriors.

Kankrelats, (known as Roachsters in Season 1), are the smallest and least intelligent of X.A.N.A.'s monsters on Lyoko. With few hit points and mounted on four short legs, it is not very fast, although it has a formidable laser beam that draws the eye to red at the bottom of the monster, just above its legs. The Kankrelats generally move in groups of 5 and only rarely charge headlong into battle. They employ group tactics because of their individual weakness. The greatest danger lies in the fact that the monster is the smallest of all created by X.A.N.A., and is therefore difficult to locate and target. However, a Kankrelat's body is very frail, so much so that even if the Eye of X.A.N.A. symbol on their foreheads is not struck, the monster is destroyed.

Despite their apparent weakness, the Kankrelats are tricky opponents in battle. The Kankrelats are the first monsters in the show to be introduced and remain to be the most frequently encountered by the heroes. This monster is not as difficult to defeat as some others, however, and gets phased out more and more during the course of the show as it becomes less of a threat. However, X.A.N.A. often recycles the Kankrelat and it is used primarily for surgical strikes that surprise the Lyoko Warriors.

Kolossus (known as Kolosse in French) is the largest and most powerful monster in Code Lyoko. It has only appeared in the Ice Sector and the Ice Replika.

The Kolossus has four Eyes of X.A.N.A., however it is the large Eye of X.A.N.A. on its face and the one on its sword that must be hit to kill it. Hitting any of the large Eyes individually does nothing to the Kolossus, as shown when Yumi threw a fan at the Eye of X.A.N.A. on its face. The fan was seemingly destroyed and the Kolossus seemed unhindered by the attack. However, when Ulrich stabbed the Eye and kept his weapon there, the Kolossus was paralysed until X.A.N.A. drew energy from all the Replikas to help the Kolossus. Hitting any of the small Eyes on the sword makes the Kolossus halt for a short period of time.

If the Kolossus touches a Tower, the part of the Tower that the Kolossus is touching glows red - possibly because of the seemingly intense heat on its hands.

Megatanks are large, ball-like monsters, possibly the only Monster in X.A.N.A.'s army not based on a living creature. Megatanks are arguably the strongest of X.A.N.A.'s monsters because of its shell, which can't take damage even from another Megatank. However, the force of the impact will sometimes push its companion into the digital sea. In the first season, a Megatank's laser does 50 life points of damage, allowing some room for the Lyoko Warriors to protect Aelita with their bodies. This changes since Code: Earth, since X.A.N.A.'s monsters get stronger and a whole 100 life points of damage is dealt, this makes the body protection technique far less viable (as the Lyoko Warrior that uses it is devirtualized immediately after doing it) but it is still used. To defeat them, Team Lyoko must hit the Eye of X.A.N.A. (which is located inside its shell on the metal framework that connects the two sides of its shell) before it closes.

Megatanks also have the ability to destroy objects that Aelita creates with her power, however if Aelita's Creativity is mixed with her Energy Fields it may take around 5 or 6 shots. A Megatank's laser will usually not come back until it hits something or someone. Megatanks can also run over the warriors, which results in instant devirtualization.

Bloks are the most common of X.A.N.A.'s monsters. Despite their average HP, they're very weak due to their weak spot, the Eye of XANA, being on four sides of its body. The Eyes of X.A.N.A. are sometimes seen on the top of the Bloks. Bloks have three attacks; the normal laser, which needs to be charged up only once before attacking, a Freeze Spray which freezes anything that comes into contact with it, and Fire Rings, which are a Blok's most powerful attack.

Three of the Eyes of X.A.N.A. on the Blok seem to possess the three separate attacks. The last remaining Eye is the Blok's center of control, and their weakness. This fact questions how the Lyoko Warriors know which Eye to hit to destroy the Blok. In the Evolution series, bloks can stack on top of each other forming a 11x11 wall. This makes it difficult for the Lyoko Warriors since their combined blast does 100AP.

Hornets, also called Frelions or Waspsters, are some of X.A.N.A.'s weakest monsters residing on the Ice, Mountain, Forest, and Desert Sectors of Lyoko.

Hornets resemble a legless mosquito/wasp with five pairs of thin wings adorned with digital-like veins. They can fly at speeds comparable to the Vehicles. Hornets usually travel in swarms of three or five with each swarm consisting of a leader and two to four wingmates, though they have been shown to travel in larger groups. Like all of X.A.N.A.'s monsters, the Hornets' weakpoint is the Eye of X.A.N.A. located on their forehead. Hornets can also be defeated if their wings get sliced off (as shown by Yumi's fans, in A Lack of Goodwill). Usually, Hornet fight the best in the Mountain Sector due to the tall mountains they can hide behind.

Hornets have two weapons. Hornets usually attack their targets with a laser shot from their tail, the laser dealing 20 points of damage. In Season 1, Hornets are able to rapidly fire their laser at their targets, but this was removed from Seasons 2, 3, and 4. Hornets also attack with a poisonous liquid sprayed from their massive proboscis. The poison drains the health points of the Hornet's target at variable amounts. The toxic liquid can also create puddles that release damaging smog (this was only seen from the episodes Satellite and Swarming Attack). Hornet can also tackle their enemies.

Tarantula is one of X.A.N.A.'s monsters, and the first new monster introduced in the second season.

Tarantulas resemble giant spiders with an Eye of X.A.N.A. on its head and four jointed legs. With a higher-than-average 125 life points and the vulnerable Eye on the top of their heads, they are quite difficult to destroy and one alone can wipe out the whole team single-handedly.

Tarantulas are equipped with laser cannons on the tips of their front legs that can shoot lasers causing 20 points of damage. Unlike other monsters, they do not need to charge their lasers before-hand. They can, however, charge their lasers for shots that cause 50 points of damage per hit. The Tarantula's twin laser cannon set-up allows it to fire from each leg in succession, creating a near-continuous stream of laser-fire and allotting it a near 180 degree field of fire. However, it can only fight effectively while resting on its hind legs, limiting its movement in battle and effectively keeping it from escaping. It can run on its hind legs to take long distance shots, though it can only fire at a maximum 4 times before falling back onto all fours. Compared to other monsters, they can run fairly fast due to their long legs, but cannot balance well nor climb due to the cannons on the tips of their legs, limiting their movement to relatively flat surfaces.

Unlike X.A.N.A.'s other monsters, Tarantulas are capable of communicating with each other. A pair will often have a short conversation in order to determine a course of action. They don't speak in any understandable fashion, of course, but rather through various grunts and roars.

Tarantulas will travel alone or in groups of two to four. The Tarantula's strategy often involves guarding a target since their attack method prohibits them from moving while fighting. In the case where they chase down a foe, they will run the foe into a corner, allowing them to fire continuously. In the instances where they guard a target they will simply remain in place, adjusting their position as necessary.

Creeper is a snake-like monster that only appears in Sector 5 of Lyoko. Creepers attack by firing lasers from their mouth. Its lower body is mechanical and snakelike, but the upper body is fleshy with 2 legs. The Eye of X.A.N.A. is on the top of its head, so it is hard to hit. However, a Creeper is so weak that a hit to just about any part of the body will instantly kill it. During devirtualization, they turn into puddles of goo with binary code coming out of them. They can climb walls at ease.

Creepers can also fire a charged laser, which takes around 3 seconds to charge up. The laser inflicts about 40 points of damage.

Mantas are the strongest flying monsters in X.A.N.A.'s army, far surpassing a Hornet. They are also digital-sea-capable monsters

The Flying Mantas are superb flying monsters that look like rays. They are mostly in Sector 5 around the Celestial Dome and generally move in groups of 3. They are white and navy blue and have the Eye of X.A.N.A. on their back, their weak point. They also have powerful laser beams they use to shoot the Lyoko Warriors. Like the Krabes, their Eye is located on their backs, and is rather large when compared to other monsters. Despite this, they are very durable compared to other monsters: a Manta once survived an assault by Ulrich that nearly bisected it.

They shriek like hawks, but this tone was lowered in Code Lyoko Evolution.

Being from Sector 5, the Mantas also have a unique trait. Unlike other monsters, Mantas aren't materialized when needed. Instead, they form from lumps on the outside "wall" of the sector in a process referred to as "hatching." A creeper was one shown doing this as well.

They tend to use the same hit and run strategy as the Hornets, but their slower speed allows them to fire more in a single pass. It also makes their passes in general take longer, giving their targets a greater opportunity to counterattack.

Scyphozoa is the monster programmed by X.A.N.A. to steal memory. It serves a number of purposes for X.A.N.A. personally: the predominant two of its tasks are to drain a victim's memory and energy, or plant viruses in other warriors.

Scyphozoa is arguably one of X.A.N.A.'s most powerful monsters, and the hardest to defeat. The Scyphozoa has the ability to use his tentacles to grab anyone near it. It can use them to steal a person's memory, or DNA sequence, force them to do a task, or plant viruses inside them. However this task requires time, leaving the Scyphozoa unprotected. While the Scyphozoa has no laser weapons, it has been shown to be able to use it tentacles to push weapons out of the Lyoko warrior's hands and knock them to the ground. It is shown that the Scyphozoa can also use it tentacles to steal data from the Skid. Regardless of lacking any offensive ability, Scyphozoa can survive any attack thrown at it by the Lyoko warriors. Its Eye is located on a diameter of its head; only its tentacles and head are ever hit though. The tentacles are the only part of the Scyphozoa to ever take any physical damage. The tentacles can regenerate over time.
