Character Name: Ziqah
Race: Dovaa
Gender: Female
Clan: None (Will chose Gaili)
Stats:
- INT: 5
STR: 2
DEF: 3
Appearance: Ziqah sports long blonde hair that she often wears tied into a ponytail that rests to one side. It is wavy in texture, and she has quite a bit of it, so the best way to get it out of her way is to tie it back. Like all Dovaa, her eyes are a light lavender right now; they will change color when she choses her Dovaa clan. In terms of her skintone, she is naturally tanned, with white scales dotting along under her eyes on the upper part of her cheeks (they will change color once she chooses her clan). When she gets older, she will be of slender stature, but with womanly curves and an hourglass figure. Her clothes are reminiscent of the desert that she calls home. She wears a tank-top with sleeves that droop down like a dancers. Puffy shorts adorn her lower half, accompanied by sandals that she wears on her feet (not like the shoes/leggins showed in the tektek; they were just the best I could find with poofy shorts). Last but not least, the horns on her head are more natural in color (not purple like in the tektek). They are arranged in a series of three in the middle of her forehead: the center one being the largest and the other two being smaller. Surrounding them are smaller horns that jut up around the rest of her head toward the back.
Personality:
- Vivacious -
Ziqah is a very lively individual. She is very active in the world around her, and wants to know, see, and experience as much as she can. The young girl always seems to be doing something and never really settles down for very long. Ziqah is also expressive when she talks or spends time with others. She has a wide range of facial and vocal expressions and tends to use them as much as she can. She also frequently talks with her hands, be it moving them fluidly when explaining something or flailing them about when nervous or anxious.
Outgoing -
If there is one thing that Ziqah loves, it is interacting with people. She is quite the friendly Dovaa and enjoys meeting people of all sorts. Friendly and warm, she is not afraid to introduce herself to people when in a new place or trying to make friends. Large events with lots of people are also something she really enjoys. She loves being in the middle of things where all the action is. Such events are thrilling, and it is something that the girl lives for. If there isn't much going on, she has a tendency to get bored, and ends up wandering until she finds something else to busy herself with.
Adventurous -
Life is too short to just sit around and do nothing. Ziqah is a girl of action, and she loves taking risks and being in the center of it all. If you're looking for someone to share in an adventure with or to do something that is a little bit crazy, then look no further than her. Yes, she's thought about the consequences that such ideas might have, but she doesn't really care as much about them. She would rather grip life by the horns and risk a little injury, then just watch along the sidelines while everyone else has fun. Due to this adventurous nature, the Dovaa always seems to be on the move or hoping to do something. If there is any sort of treasure or glory involved, you can bet she'd be the first to go out there and claim that prize.
Gossip –
Don't expect Ziqah to keep a secret for very long. It's not that she doesn't like them; she's just really poor at keeping them. In all honesty, the Dovaa is a bit of a blabber mouth. She loves to talk and chatter about this person or that, and she probably knows just about all the juicy information there is to know wherever she's at. Her intentions when she is gossiping aren't cruel, mind you. She doesn't mean to hurt or anger anyone. She just can't keep her mouth shut, no matter how much she tries. If she hears a piece of information, she just has to end up sharing it. When called out on this behavior, the girl often feels really sad and disappointed in her actions. She has even been known to say that she won't do it again. This promise doesn't end up lasting very long, however, as old habits often die hard.
Materialistic -
Clothes, gems, dragon souls -- you name it, and Ziqah enjoys it. Ever since she was old enough to walk, the Dovaa has been a bit of a greedy little thing. She is not fond of sharing, if she can help it. Even with her close friends, if she shares with them, then she does so begrudgingly. She's always afraid of people not giving back things that they borrows, and as a result she'd rather just keep her things to herself. Ziqah also is a girl that equates status with the amount of things one has. One day, she hopes to be rich and live in a comfortable lifestyle. That is how she will know that she made something of herself.
Rebellious -
This Dovaa has never been one that is fond of rules. If she was ever told to do something by her parents, for example, then she would go out of her way to do the opposite thing. Ziqah isn't fond of letting others tell her what to do. She's not above sneaking out, swiping something from an unsuspecting merchant, or telling lies if it helps her in some way or another. The norms of society aren't something that she cares about much, either. The dovaa will do what she want, when she want, with whom she wants, and there isn't much anyone can do to stop her. It's as simple as that. Her mother certainly isnt fond of this sort of attitude, but no matter how much she punishes or try to change her ways, Ziqah always goes back to how she was.
Biography/Background:
- Unlike most Dovaa who call the Celestial Plane their home, Ziqah's family have lived in the small desert town of Taliuma for generations. Her father, Rax, was of the Ysali clan, and primarily worked as a healer. Her mother, Odona, was of the Peseio clan. The two not only grew up together but were childhood sweethearts and married as soon as they were able to do so. Rax's job was to take care of the people of Tailuma, just as his father and grandfather did before him. A few times a year, he would also venture out into the desert to take care of the nomadic families that called it home, and was often accompanied by his wife on these trips. She would help them by providing them with some fresh water to get by until they could visit again.
A few years after they were married, Odona gave birth to twin girls: Nazah and Ziqah. The two of them couldn't be happier at their luck, and it was decided that they would do their best to give their daughters everything they wanted within their means. Unfortunately, not long after the girls were born, Rax made a trip out into the desert by himself. Before he left, he told his wife it was best if she stayed behind. Someone would have to care for the girls, and he could manage on his own. These words were the last the woman ever heard from him, for her husband never returned. Whether it was a sand storm, heatstroke, or raiders, Odona never learned. All she knew was that her husband was gone, and she was left to care for her two newborn daughters alone.
Life for the three of them was difficult after that. Without their father's income, both Nazah and Ziqah were raised in poverty as their mother scraped for them to get by. Odona seemed to have lost her spark after losing her husband, and she only could find odd jobs here and there after that. She was able to provide a simple roof over their head, and meager meals of food on the table. It wasn't a lot, but they had each other.
As the girls got older, it was clear that the twins were quite the opposites in terms of their personality. Where Nazah was obedient and patient, Ziqah was rebellious and always on the move. Odona could count on Nazah to help pitch in around the house or work to get a little extra money for them all, but Ziqah was another matter. If Ziqah came back with extra money or food, it was usually something she had pinched from an unsuspecting individual or stolen from a busy merchant who was taking care of another customer.
Her younger daughter's rebellious nature is something that Odona is trying to deal with, but she knows that it's difficult. The twins often butt heads together as well given that they are opposites of one another. Nazah feels that Ziqah is too selfish and should care more about others, while Ziqah feels her sister doesn't do enough things for herself.
Now at age twelve, the Dovaa girl is eagerly awaiting the day when she can leave home and set off on her own. It is her biggest dream to get out and see as much of the world as possible.
Thoughts on the Great Engagement:
Is all that fighting really necessary? How long has it gone on for? Ziqah honestly doesn't care too much about the Great Engagement, as it's a part of history that she finds boring. Let the Oblivionites and Orderites rage their wars -- the Dovaa were the smart ones in terms of the whole situation. They were the ones that remained neutral and decided not to get involved. The young girl tends to go along with this line of thinking. In her eyes, there's no point in getting involved, and she'd rather just live her life and do what she wants without having to fight over things.
Thoughts on the Magescian Races:
- Oblivionites -
A bit too dark and dreary, Ziqah tends to find Oblivionites a bit depressing to be around. Not only that, but some of them are just outright crazy. She has heard tales of what the eyeless people can (and will) do if they are crossed in the wrong way. Because of the stories she has heard, she tends to give the Oblivionites a wide berth. It's not that she wouldn't befriend one -- she probably would, if she knew they were a decent individual -- it's just she'd rather be safe than sorry.
Orderites -
Where the Oblivionites are too dark, the Orderites are too goody-goody. They claim to be all kind and caring, yet they wouldn't hesitate to fight against their Oblivionite enemies if it came to it. Ziqah feels that Orderites are kind of hypocritical in this regard. She also finds, from what she has heard of their people, that they are a bit pompous and uppity. Sure -- they claim to help those who need it -- but that doesn't necessarily make one a good person all the time. If one wanted to befriend her, however, she wouldn't say no right out. It'd be based on a person-to-person basis.
Hybrids -
Outside of her own race, Ziqah is most likely to talk to hybrids the most. She feels that they have been given a bad rap -- stigmatized for something that they had no control over. Any sort of Dovaa hybrid, she has no problems talking to. If she sees an Orderite/Oblivionite hybrid, however, she will question how their parents managed to come together in the first place, as she knows how much they hate each other. In Ziqah's mind, people are too quick to judge others, so she feels that the hybrids should be treated just like everyone else.
Thoughts on the Dragons and Khehora:
- Dragons -
As a Dovaa, Ziqah feels a lot of respect for the dragons. She's a bit sad over the fact that they have to be killed so often, but it also can't be helped, she supposes, given how much their souls are used in Magescian society. If she can obtain the dragon souls in ways other than killing them, that's how she would prefer to do things. If it's the only option, however, she'll do what she needs to in order to obtain them. If this is the case, Ziqah can often be found murmuring an apology after the act is done.
Khehora -
The khehora are neat individuals. She has never met any herself, but she would certainly love to meet one and become friends with any, should they want to become friends with her. Given how they are related to dragons, the young girl knows to be wary of them, however. Not all khehora are fond of Magescian, and thus should be approached with caution.
