    Level: 26

xxxx[x] Acid Armor : With a molecular structure so close to water, Echo only has to 'shift' to almost completely blend in with the water around her.

xxxx[x] Bio-luminescence : Having been exposed to both the elements of water and dark, Echo has some aspects of her Umbreon self, her bio-
xxxxluminescent markings being one of them. These markings glow yellow do to stress and other various reasons, including the cycle of the moon.

xxxx[x] Poisonous : While a normal Vaporeon's fins and frills are soft and pliable, hers are stiff and lined with sharp spines. At the base of each one, a gland
xxxxprocures a sweat based toxin, much like that of an Umbreon, which, at will, can be excreted into the spines. One p***k of these spines will leave a toxin
xxxxin the wound that will cause swelling and pain, and, once if is in the blood stream, fevers and rarely, delusions.

    xxxx[x] Toxic
    xxxx[x] Echoed Voice

    xxxx[x] Water Pulse

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
    Eye Color: Dark violet

Other Appearance Information: Echo is different than what one would call a 'normal' Vaporeon. Where a normal Vaporeon would have a simple line of ridged scales along their spine, she has a long trail of poisonous spines that hold her stiff but collapsible dorsal fin. Those same spines make up the fin of her long and powerful tail. Her dark blue skin is decorated by luminescent markings that glow a bright warning yellow along her ribs, spines, face, and paws.

PERSONALITY:

    Likes:

[+] Humans : She finds them both terrifying and fascinating, often swimming up through the sewers to spy on them.

[+] The Dark : Echo is a mostly nocturnal creature, she spends most of her days sleeping so that she might stay up and swim beneath the moon.

[+] The Cold : Echo enjoys the colder waters of the ocean to that of the rivers.

[+] The Water : Obviously more suited for swimming rather than running, Echo spends most of her day in the water.

[+] Human Food : She's not sure why, but the few bites she's managed to sneak from under the Human's noses taste very interesting.

    Dislikes:

[-] Storms : When the water rocks and flows out of control, the winds shake the world, and lightening shatters the sky, that is when Echo is most afraid.

[-] Strangers : While she is a very curious Pokémon, she is also quite cautious. New people and experiences may take her a little while to warm up to.

[-] Spicy Foods : No thank you!

    [-] Bugs : ...

[-] Pokéballs : She's never been in one, and never wants to be! If by some chance some trainer wants her, she'd much rather walk than sit in such a cramped little ball.

    Strengths:

    [+] Swimming : Self-explanitory, really.

[+] Hunting : With her ability to blend in with the water and her poisonous frills, hunting is fun for her and she is quite skilled at it.

[+] Learning : Echo is a fast learner with a curious mind, she'll never turn down a chance to learn something new!

    Weaknesses:

[-] Skittish : She's pretty distrustful, of humans, new things, anything she doesn't know about.

[-] Land : She's built for water, so running and fighting on land is harder for her.

[-] Slow to Act : Echo always thinks things through, so quick reactions aren't really her thing. Sometimes, she takes too long thinking and her opportunity flies right by!

    General Traits:

[+] Curious : While new things make her wary, that doesn't keep her from spying on them to learn more! Echo is a knowledge seeker who loves to learn.

[+] Patient : Her years of hunting, stalking, and spying have groomed her into a very patient creature. It is not unlike her to sit and watch for hours from the gutters of the Citadel or spend days tracking new prey.

[-] Honest : Echo has no qualms with speaking exactly what's on her mind.

[-] Unrelenting : Echo will stop at nothing to learn what she wants to know. The questions will be never ending. She never gives up.

[-] Detached : It is very rare for Echo to bond with anyone or anything, she's always moving, always learning and seeking new experiences.

    HISTORY:
[ p a r e n t s ] - Echo's parents were Rain, a Vaporeon from the riverlands, and Tide, a tamed Umbreon. Tide belonged to a Traveler and met Rain during his master's journey. He and Rain have not been seen since the storm, Echo knows nothing of their existence.

[ b i r t h ] - Echo was born in the eye of a dark and cold storm. At only a few hours old, the storm crashed around them. Lightening struck, the winds tore at her parent's fur and stole their cries. And the waves... The ocean swelled, the great waves slapped at the cliff where her mother had made her nest, wiping the small family from their tiny cave. Her egg, by some miracle, was unharmed. Slowly, it sank to the bottom of the sea where currents swept it into a large under water cave. She hatched upon the stony shore of the air pocket in that cave.

[ c h i l d h o o d ] - Echo grew up inside that cave, hunting the little lizards and drinking the rain water that fell in through the sky hole above her. She learned every inch of that cave, every nook and cranny, except for where the water touched. The quiet waves, lightly lapping against the stone, frightened her deeply. But every day, she would make herself go closer and closer to the shore line, until one night, she dared to touch it.

[ e v o l u t i o n ] - That night, she learned the water held no harm for her. Slowly she let her self in, paw, then leg, then body, before long she was learning to swim, then diving below the surface. It was like a whole new world under there, dark and beautiful. She loved it. In her journeys, she found beautiful stones on the floor below, illuminated by a beam of moon light. She dove farther to inspect them, and at a single touch, her body began to glow spectacularly. She emerged, terrified, no longer an Eevee, but something else entirely.

[ f l o o d ] - At about a year old, Echo experienced yet another terrifying storm. Her cave shook and trembled as rain poured in and wind screamed around the sky holes. The weather was relentless and within hours there was no more dry land in her cave. Terrified, she was forced to swim and in her panicked search for escape, she found the hole where her egg once came though. She darts through, panic completely replacing her rationality and, once more she was tossed into the stormy sea.

[ f r e e d o m ] - When the storm had subsided, Echo found herself washed up in the basin of the rivers that flowed out of the only lake in Zatao and into the ocean. Here, everything was different, new, and very, very big. The great expanse that is the ocean terrified Echo, and never had she seen so much sky. She frantically searched for her home, her cave, but it was no where to be found. Scared and hungry, she slipped into the brackish water and followed the river up stream.

[ e x p e r i e n c e ] - It wasn't long until Echo met her first Pokémon, an Abra by the name of Sigh, who had come to the river for water. Being the curious little thing she is, Echo stayed near this spot for days, watching as the yellow Pokémon came to drink three times each day. It wasn't long until Sigh caught her staring. After her anxiety fades, she and the phychic Pokémon become fast friends. Sigh teaches her the English language, foraging, and other useful things. Months pass before someone dislodges Echo from her new home. Humans, Sigh calls them, they catch Pokémon and hold them in balls to do their bidding. Cuiosity killed the Skitty, or so they say, and so, with a promise to meet again, Echo continues her journey up river.

[ h u m a n s ] - And upriver she went, swimming against the current and sleeping in the shadows, weeks later, Echo came across a large lake. Here she gathered information on the few humans that appeared, stalking them silently, hidden in the water. The other Pokémon told her of larger groups father East, of something called the Cat-rain-a and Mother-rose-a. Deeply interested in learning more about these Humans, Echo began a harder journey. One on land.

[ t r a v e l ] - Slowly, she trekked East, following the word of mouth from Pokémon to Pokémon. Every once in a while, she would find small rivers that allowed her faster travels, but she spent night after night walking, determinded to find these Rain-and-Rose-a's and the Humans. She met complications along the way, rouge Pokémon and scavengers, but her toxic spikes and warning colors kept most dangers at bay.

[ r a i n - a n d - r o s e - a ' s ] - At last, she had finally found it; the Rain-and-Rose-a, where the Humans are. A huge staggered rose form the grass and in it, she couldn't see... Was that where the Humans were? After days of planning, she found the smelly pipes that lead out of the city. Using her keen swimming abilities, Echo managed to sneak into the city. And she has been there ever since, passing between the cities and the lake, learning as much as she possibly can.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:

On a dark and stormy night, a tired mother thanks the Swamp and bares her children in light of the moon on a dark, slick shore that cuts through the swamp like a claw. She left her eggs, for a moment or forever, no one knows, but it was the MotherFather's mind that she may never see those eggs again. Fast currents, tipped with white foam tugged at the water's edge as the river swelled with the weight of the rain that fell, tearing and stealing anything it could grasp and dragging it downstream. These eggs were only a few of the victims claimed that night.

But not all was lost. One egg in particular somehow, magically some would say, guided by the SwampMother would others, was swept by fast currents. Past sharp rocks and fallen trees, and the hungry mouths of the riverborn, the egg was carried until, at last, the river emptied into the deepest lake in Matope. The tide and the currents of the lake carried her gently now, sweeping her into the entrance of an underwater cave long since abandoned and depositing her small egg onto the smooth rocky shore of an air pocket deep inside.

It was there, on that calm, stony shore that her egg did split, spilling her into the world and awakening her from her dream or shifting waves and raging winds. Her tiny jaws gaped, she squeaked and cried for her mother, only to hear her sounds reverberate back to her.

A sad, lonely echo...

She did not live, only survived, not by what her parents taught her, no, but by basic instinct. Before her eyes were open, she sought out the tough, slinging water weeds that blanketed the rocks when she hungered, and licked at the cave walls when she thirst. When the swamp granted her sight, her home was almost as dark as before her eyes opened. The cave was large, with many crannies and nooks. The rock was dark and wet, lined with lichen and crawling with lizards and other critters. From over head, perhaps five tail lengths, sunlight shimmered down in shafts from the cracks that lead to the outside. She remembered words from her dreams and spoke them to the cave when the light faded, learning their taste, their texture, how they swam around her fangs.

When she grew stronger, the little filly, if one could even call her that, began inspecting the waters that surrounded her embankment. Tentatively dipping a single hoof in and jumping back, eyeing the ripples in wonder and awe. During her watchings of the crystal clear waters, she glimpsed many little fishes, and some big ones too, many different shiny things, and rocks that mimicked the ones that hung from the ceiling. After much mental coaxing, and the tempting idea of chasing the fish, Echo finally let herself slip into the shallows and into a entirely different world. She was at home in the water, she loved everything about it, the way it flowed over her scales and fur, the clean taste in her mouth, and how fast she could move! Before long, she wasn't just chasing fish, but catching them and little Echo grew from puddle monster for terror of the deep. She collected the treasures she found, storing them in her little nooks.

Echo loved her home. She was content, ever thrilled by her findings in the water, and the satisfying burn in her tail and stomach when she went to sleep after a day of swimming. But nothing could prepare her for the night that the storm from her naming dream came back to haunt her.

Winds whistled and howled from the cracks in the rocks, water leaked inside in rivulets, pouring from the ceiling. Bright, frightening lights flashed through the holes and deafening rumbles shook her cave. At one point during the night, a terrifying CRACK shattered the air and something deep in the cave crumbled and shook. Echo took to the waters and found something that would change her life forever. A huge tree had uprooted from the storm, leaving a large, gaping hole. Rocks tumbled and fell, dust settled, and upon looking up, everything the doe thought was true had shattered. Terrified, Echo froze, her eyes gigantic with fear.
