V'demhe Explores

Players -
V'demhe
Niabi

Allowed out to play for a few hours, V'demhe headed for the western coast of the isle. It always seemed to be her favorite since that was where the trees were. The little one had a fascination with the foliage. Running bare foot across the ground she giggled as she passed by others, nothing more than a yellow blur with a head full of hair streaming behind her. The girl's pace would slow once the trees came into full view. The tops were being moved by a wind, though she was sure it wasn't anything too powerful. Staring up at the roof the trees provided she idly wondered if she could ever climb that high. If she were taller she certainly would have tried but as it stood she was too short to reach the lowest branch. Moving as a leisurely pace now, she walked between the thick bodies, running her hands along the bark in amazement. One could say V'demhe's interest in all tress stemmed from the tree Aisha. There was an errant thought in her mind that said all trees were special.

At about half way through the trees something caught her eye; the gleam of the water. V'demhe gave a puffy cheeked little smile and picked up her pace to take her to the shore. Her first thought was to make a sand hut, then she wanted to simply draw in the sand with a stick. Moving her head left to right she scanned for a fallen branch that she could use. There was no point in trying to break a fresh one off. It was rude. If she couldn't find one, V'demhe guessed her pointer finger would have to do. With not a single twig to be seen she giggled and pranced out a bit farther, getting closer to the water, then knelt down to begin a long string of swirls and dots.

Once her swirling creation was finished the little one stood up and beamed proudly at what she'd made. Placing her hands on her hips with purpose she pushed out her chest and strutted around the design. About half way she broke into laughter at how she was walking then decided to skip. One hop after another she made her way down the sandy shore line, weaving in and out to get closer to the water. After a few moments passed she halted her activity to stare. The light bouncing off the water's surface was amazing to her, almost like crystals. Closing one eye she kept her other one focused as she brought her clean hand up to reach out, giving the illusion that she could touch the far off gleams.

After playing with her perception, V'demhe lowered her hand to her side and opened her eye. She was still excited about the thought of the water having it's own crystals, but she wanted to be in the water. Going the last few feet it took to get wet she jumped and splashed about. Since she had the free time she wanted to enjoy it. Going out a bit farther V'demhe made a big leap and plunged below the surface. Not that she had anyone to hide from, but the child pretended she was being hunted and needed to swim to safety. With her arms and legs she kicked and pushed the water around her to propel her forward. The little Alkidike felt the current push and pull at her body as the water rose an fell as if it breathed. So it was a dance of pull, kick, push, kick. After a small distance she came up for air with a huge gasp, loose threads of her hair being plastered to her face as the rest seemed to stubbornly stay in the ponytail she wore.

Niabi pushed the hair away from her face, tilting her head back and letting the warm spring sun touch her skin. Her journeys with Vollerei had been going well, but she eventually needed to come back home and take a break from traveling. It was nice to feel the familiar breeze from the ocean surrounding them, and also nice to be able to sit in her own home after months of being away.

It was a day for relaxing, and Niabi had decided to spend her time swimming. She hadn't reached her usual spot before she began to hear the splashing and giggling of someone else. Someone small, and tiny. Her face lit in a gentle smile as she emerged from the trees and watched the small girl swimming and playing games by herself.

She lowered herself to sit at the water's edge and let her feet feel the cool stream of water. "Having fun little one?"

ORPs don't seem to attract a lot of attention here lol Especially when they're on the islands that only Alkidike can get to emotion_c8

Oh that's alright, I just though I would leave the option open.

Her hair had been pushed from her face and she was leaping up and down to make her own waves when a voice caught her attention. V'demhe turned her head to look at who it was before grinning and waving like a lunatic. "I am. Wanna join?" She moved her arms out to motion to the water. The little one supposed she could have splashed to get her point across but her mother had taught her it was rude to go around splashing those who were not playing. "The water is warm from the sun and it looks like it has crystals." The playful smile was still plastered across her face and didn't look like it was going away any time soon.

Niabi returned the wave with a slow and gentle one of her own. "I think I'll sit on the edge for now. Maybe you can show me where it looks like there are crystals?" She coaxed. She would much rather watch than splash about, but perhaps if she was around the young girl enough she would be more enthusiastic about joining her.

"It is a nice warm day, isn't it?" She put her hand up to her forehead to try to block out some of the sun streaming through the less dense area of the forest.

With a nod, V'demhe turned to face the rolling ocean and pointed to the surface. "The crystals are floating on top." The way the light bounced it seemed to sparkle and that made the little one want to splash again. Sending water into the air she watched it reflect the light. Giving a small squeal of enjoyment she couldn't help half jumping forward and doing a belly flop to displace more water and make it shimmer as well. Pleased with the results she started to flop over and over again until she was too far out to be able to jump up and actually make an impact.

Once out far enough, the little one started to doggy paddle her way around in the rolling waters. It wasn't so much that she couldn't swim, but more that she wanted to have fun playing in the glare of the light that bounced from the surface of the ocean. V'demhe swam in circles, chasing the ever glittering waves that gently swept by, until finally she giggled and ducked under the surface once more. This time she bobbed down, took in a mouthful of water, came back up and spit the water out as if she were a whale. A child's imagination was limitless and fleeting. As she made her way back to the sandy shore, V'demhe stopped playing around and instead focused on wringing the water out of her hair so that she wouldn't be dripping for hours. Her mother would just wrap her in a towel and shake the liquid out if she came home in such a state, but she tried to make things easier on her elder parent.

It occurred to her that she had been gone for some time. V'demhe didn't want her mother to come looking for her and be angry that the child had lost track of time. Pausing to look around and judge time by the light of day she drew in her bottom lip to chew on it slightly. She really needed to learn how to tell time better. Once her hair was rid of the majority of the water she turned her attention Naibi and gave a small smile and wave. "I have to get home and help my mom with chores. I think I'm late." Offering up a small giggle at her apparent misdeed she'd turn on her heel and head for the trees. V'demhe wasn't running, but her pace was faster than a walk so she could get home in a decent amount of time.

Niabi watched the girl play for some time, kicking her feet gently through the current. She could feel the heat picking up and knew all too well that feeling of sweat pricking her skin under her hair. It was time to cool off.

She scooted herself off over the edge of the land and into the cool refreshing water. It was relaxing.

She floated on the water's surface for a while before the youngling girl said her farewells and ran off into the forest again. She was cute, Niabi gave her that, though she had left so early. She understood the need to help her mothers' though, so she couldn't blame her.
