SETTING: ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA.
Wednesday - December 31st, 2014
The infection has been spreading for days, people were scared -- wearing masks around and staying indoors -- but, that didn't stop it.
Most, if not everyone, on the planet somehow contracted a mysterious pathogen that, for reasons unknown, brings the dead back to "life." It is unknown how the disease is spread, though its almost-total infection rate worldwide suggests it is either water-borne or air-borne. There are no known cases of immunity and no treatment currently exists. The exact t axonomy of the pathogen is unknown (virus, prion, bacteria, or hitherto unknown microbe), and all known attempts to create a cure or vaccine have thus far failed.
With the infection raging out of control and multiple victims becoming infected, FEMA had to take the next step of full-town/city evacuations. FEMA began setting up evacuation centers around major urban centers such as hospitals, arenas, or malls where people were "forced" to go and await further instruction. FEMA representatives would assess the evacuation centers and provide hourly updates over all radio frequencies of the current conditions; however, it is presumed that the infected individuals also made their way to those locations and quickly almost every evacuation center was overrun by the Walkers.

Anaheim. It used to be a hustling, bustling city that never slept. Well, it still wasn't sleeping but it wasn't alive anymore. The walkers moved in hordes now, great big herds of unliving, but still moving creatures. To the blonde, they were disgusting. She couldn't even remember what the world looked like before the dead had been reanimated but perhaps that was for the better. Things were.. More simple now for Jae. Life was easy. There was only one thing that she had to do. Live.
Jae's day mainly consisted of running further and further from base, and then returning before dark. She had only a few items on her and she had not run into any living people for several days. Currently, she was standing at the corner of East Broadway and Harbour Blvd. In her hand she led a crowbar, on her back was her trusty pack. To her left one of the men that had recenlty joined her swatted down another walker. "Closer and Closer to the Magical City and we get more and more walkers... I wonder how many died in there or went in thinking it was safe. The girl pondered, her crowbar sinking into the scull of a creature, it's body falling to the ground. Jae gave an exasperated sigh and kicked the dead beast before pushing forwards. "This is such bullshit. It's my day off." She joked to herself. There was never a day off. She glanced to her left, towards the other side of the boulevard to see that her partner had disappeared. Panic washed across her face. Where did he go?

The hot sun hung in the air, even though it was supposed to be winter it seemed that Southern California didn't get the memo. Wiping the sweat from his forehead Donald Reyes was perched upon the balcony of a local Starbucks. In the distance the Matterhorn towered over everything and he figured that if these creatures, these zombies, couldn't climb stops or ladders the top area would be a good place to a guy. As a child he remembered riding pass the creatures of 'Hippity do da' land or what not. Yes turning the music off would be great along with hauling supplies up there he could survive at the same time. Thinking he could get there safely since he escaped so easily from the protective guard earlier. The undead had swarmed the prison bus he was riding in and killed the two guards. Of course the keys to his chains were on one of the freshly dead guards so he fished his dad's Saint Christopher's medal from his pocket and prayed. Not thinking God would save a killer like him he was surprised when a car slammed into the back of the bus. It struck in a way that when it was all said and done the back door fell off, another miracle was that the end of the chains that held him in his seat was broken. Pulling it out he went to the front where two undead men had been and bashed their heads into the metal of the bus before fishing out the keys and leaving his handcuffs behind. The last eight years he had gone by the nickname DLK or Dead Language Killer as he often left an as of yet unknown language carved into the bodies of his victims. They were lines and passages taken directly from the Voynich Manuscript. It was an amazing book using a language so dead no one could break the code, back at his home hidden in the walls was an first edition of the book. One day he would go back to get it but first he needed to make a home, besides his house was behind Disneyland so making home base first seemed like the best idea. Looking down at the horde of undead meandering below they probably forgot all about him but of course it was Starbucks so even in death these morons came here. The best part about his recent capture was that it wasn't in the papers yet and never would be. Moving along the ledge he dropped down quietly before heading, low, through the streets.

Seriously. Where did that boy go.Panic washed over her features as she spun, full circle, trying to figure out where the clumsy creature she had just been with had disappeared to. And then she heard it. Screams. Why did people, after so much time in this dreaded world, scream. The blonde whirled around looking towards the building that the sound was coming from. Her name, repeated over and over again as the man, the boy that she had been with, was consumed by the walkers."Another one bites the dust."The girl said, lacking empathy in her voice as she spun around and started to move quietly through the streets. Jae had learned that noise, mostly, attacked the creatures. So, as her 'friend' screamed to his untimely death, the few minglers that had been around darted towards his dying corpse for a fresh meal. Jaemie, however, moved in the other direction. She needed to distance herself from the scene.
However, despite the walkers being her only real problem, the blonde didn't realize that those who were living could also be a problem to her. Little did she think, but as she tried to avoid the dead she ran right into the living problem. A hand snuck around her midsection and the other to her mouth. Jaemie knew better then to scream, so instead she bit her attackers hand, hard enough that blood seeped into her mouth. That made him let go of her, shoving her hard to the ground. Jaemie crashed to her knees, ignoring the sting that sprung up her wrists and her knees, grabbing for her crowbar. She spun, so that she was on her back looking up at the peroxide bottle blond man that stood in front of her. He shook his hand angrily and Jae knew that in that moment, he was distracted. She moved, quickly, scrambling to her feet and dashing around the corner and directly towards the danger, directly towards the magical land that was DisneyLand.

The man who Jae had bitten finally snapped out of his daze before starting after her. Donald watched this from where he was, people all around came back from the dead yet this man was still trying to kill a living person. Of course that was the pot calling the kettle black but that wasn't him anymore. The whole point of his killings, twelve before he was caught, was to have an audience, to confuse the detectives on his case and maybe to break the code of the manuscript. Chasing after the pair running he unsheathed his machete jumping and running along the table tops they were passing. Snarling like the undead he got the man to pause and turn to face him. Expecting a zombie he was startled to see a man launching himself at him. Donald's knee connected to his chest driving him back into the ground. Once they were both on the ground Donald sunk the machete two inches into his skull. Tearing it out he flicked the blood off and began to search his pockets. The hick didn't have much but Donald scored some aspirin. Looking up at the girl he saved he narrowed his eyes, after seven females he needed to switch it up and killed a few men but woman were easier to handle. However he made a promise to himself not to kill her and that was actually quite easy to do. Unsure of what she wanted to do he carefully stepped forward but a crash nearby caught his ears. Quickly he shoved something inside of her hands before darting off down and alley, over a dumpster and disappearing around a corner. The item in her hands was a ticket stub, for Disneyland, and a fast pass for the Matterhorn.
