The Oshawatt sighed, relieved, having let the duo's display build suspense. He smiled meekly before observing a bow from his new trainer. " Let us both do our best to get to know one another." Rin awkwardly mirrored the bow. Kenjiro smiled and recalled his new otter associate, placing Rin's pokeball in his coat pocket. "I look forward to working together." He said patting his chest. " I wonder what kind of partner you'll end up being." Kenjiro mused.
Kenjiro turned his attention to Masura, whom he placed on the table in front of him before kneeling to speak to the electric mouse at eye level. "We did Masura, we finally have a future again, a beginning of a better life." The shabby man's voice cracked with emotion. " It hasn't been easy, and I'm sure this is only just the beginning of a whole new set of challenges and problems. " Kenjiro blew snot across his already dirty sleeve. "But, thank you for sticking with me." Kenjiro braced the orange puffball before a few moments before making himself decent, as decent as a street urchin could be at least.
Kenjiro stuffed the gear into his pockets, placing Masura back on his shoulder. "Thank you for everything, Professor! I will certainly try." Kenjiro pushed open the door and turned back for a second. "I'm sure we'll look completely different the next time you see us!"
And so Kenjiro went off, to where he did not quite know!

Perhaps he was a little too brusque when he brushed off his mother’s concerned looks and his grandmother’s stern frown but he was determined to see the world and what it had to offer. He was also convinced his father was still out there and it was his mission to bring him back home. It’s why when he left, he didn’t look back, but made a silent promise to himself that he’d at least visit once he had something to be proud of.
The trip to Professor Juniper’s lab was a breathtaking sight since Jake hadn’t left White Forest except for visiting the neighboring cities and towns. Nuvema Town specifically was quaint but full of promise. It’s where he was going to start his journey. He noticed a few people leaving a rather sizable building, all with smiles and the eyes of an eager adventurer. That was probably where he was supposed to be. Adjusting the cap on his head, he made his way over, casually stepping in to admire all the equipment and pristine walls the place had to offer.
“Prof Juniper?” He called out as he entered, stepping aside to let others pass him as he waited to be acknowledged. “Uh, Jake Calibre. I’m here to get my first companion and all.” He wasn’t really looking to be a trainer, but his mom and dad had their own steadfast companion who stayed through thick and thin, and it was one of the conditions he was given to be even allowed to leave the house. He wondered what was in store for him. “Don’t wanna be too much of a bother but do you have an Oshawott to spare?” He remembered it was his father’s starter, and the Samurott he’d happily ridden as a child still fresh in his mind.
Professor Juniper had just finished up sending some new trainers out on their way when a new one showed up. She smiled in greeting to the boy that had arrived. "Hello~ You've come to the right place, then." she assured him. He already seemed to know her name, so there was no need to introduce herself. Luckily enough, Jake already knew what he wanted, before she could even ask which starter he would like. "A wonderful choice. I'll be right with you in a moment." she said, excusing herself to go to the back of her lab to get a fresh oshawott, pokedex and some other supplies for Jake's journey. It really didn't take too long before she returned, handing over a ball containing an oshawott, as well as a small care package with his pokedex, including some pokeballs and potions. "There you go~ Is there anything else I might help you with?" she asked in a friendly manner. Having to do this so often as part of her job got her rather used to this sort of routine.
Trey ran into the lab just barely missing barreling into an intern. The boy had woken up that morning with a start thanks to the train finally arriving to the city that would grant him his starter. He had managed to sneak some food off the train, his stomach's constant nagging finally winning over his conscience and had just barely managed to avoid getting caught. All in all it had been a very eventful week just getting to the lab. Now however it would finally be worth it. He was finally going to get a pokemon all his own, and hopefully he could do what his father asked him to do and "make something useful of himself" Or maybe he could just stay away from them. Now that thought was treacherous, downright impossible. Either way his path started here. "He-hello?" he said pushing some of his bangs out of his eyes. "Professor Juniper?"
Hello! Sorry for the wait. Also i'm so amused because Trey's bday is the same as mine and my character Rose. XD
The intern that nearly got barreled into squeaked a bit before becoming much more alert to her surroundings. Noticing that the boy that had almost ran into her seemed to be looking for the professor, she went to alert Professor Juniper of her new arrival.
Professor Juniper stood up from her desk at the news, making her way back out to see this boy for herself. "Hello, and welcome. I'm professor Juniper. Do you happen to be a new trainer?" She greeted, then took a guess at why the young boy was here.

At the professor's voice Trey jumped slightly though he managed to somewhat hide it by spinning on his heel to face her. "I.yeah I'm..I'm a new trainer" he said playing with the strings of his pika-hoodie, a nervous habit he had yet to shake. "I was hoping I could get a snivy as a starter for my journey?" He wasn't sure what had made him chose that particular pokemon, maybe it was because most of his brothers chose fire or water type starters? "I mean..if..if that's okay" he added nervously. Were trainers even allowed to chose their own pokemon? Was that a thing they could do? Was he over stepping here?
>:0 YO. You know our bday is on thanksgiving this year, right? lol. This is so crazy.
Juniper smiled, a bit amused with how jumpy the boy in the pikachu hoody was. At least he had come prepared with his starter decision. "An excellent choice. I'm sure you will have many interesting and fun adventures with your new partner. I'll just be a moment." she assured the boy, then turned away to collect his starter of choice as well as a pokedex and a bundle of potions and pokeballs. As she had said, it hadn't taken long, and she soon returned to him bearing gifts. "Here is your very own Snivy. I also have for you a pokedex, as well as some pokeballs and potions to help you get started on your journey." she told him, handing over each thing as she did. It was always nice to see a new trainer come through, even if she had ongoing projects that kept her busy.
Yeah but kinda cool. Also wow it is?! It happens sometimes right? Like every other year or so. And then sometimes on Black Friday lol. Maybe Trey can meet Rose sometime.

Trey couldn't help but smile at the Professor's kind nature. She was nice...so much nicer than most people in his life had been. He wondered why his own father never been so kind to him..he wondered if his mom would have been like this. Keeping all these thoughts hidden behind a smile ( that to be fair was at least half genuine because hey! Starter) His eyes fixed on the Snivy, extended a hand out to the tiny snake Pokemon. The Pokemon for its part regarded her new trainer somewhat seriously before nodding in approval and hoping on his shoulder. Trey smiled again, 100% genuine this time. It seemed his starter liked him! ( he had...actually been worried that she wouldn't) The surprises weren't over however, since Professor Juniper also had more gifts for him. Pokeballs and a Pokedex. "Wow! Thank you!" he said stashing them all in his bag. "I'll...I'll catch a lot of pokemon" With gear in hand the young trainer made his way out.
