Next was a Snorunt-Wailmer pair, eager to take a crack at Zero's pokemon. The charge of the latter however, was broken with extreme force as a Solarbeam engulfed it. The power was more than enough to knock it out, and meanwhile Sei was quick to take care of the remaining pokemon. The little Snorunt had no defense against the barrage of punches the Lucario unleashed, and promptly fell with his friend.

A pair of new Snorunts decided to confront Zero this time. They got points for bravery, if not intelligence. Immediately, the trainer unleashed his pokemon on them, swiftly defeating them. A Blast Burn to one, a Close Combat to the other, and they were felled. He briefly thought of catching one of them, but decided against it, and moved on ahead.

The next opponents were rather annoying. The two Zubats attempted to cut them off on their way to another pair of pokemon, which Zero took exception to. Ashen didn't have anything particuarly great with the type advantages, and Thunder Punch only did so much damage with Sei. They were only barely hanging in there as well, which only made things more annoying. It wasn't that they were hard to kill, but the trainer just wanted to get through training as quickly as possible.

The next unfortunate pair was made up of two Snorunt. Such an unfortunate pairing, against his pokemon. Ashen's Blast Burn almost got them both in one go, but the second realized what was happening and moved out of the way. Unfortunately, Sei was right there to meet it, unleashing a flurry of punches on the little pokemon. Their attacks KOed them both before they could do anything, letting Zero move onto the next without issue.

Unfortunately, it didn't seem Zero could escape the Zubat swarm for very long. This time, one was accompanying a little Snorunt, hoping that strength in numbers would help. Well, no matter, he needed to get through them, and his pokemon could get it done quickly. Ashen opened with a Blast Burn, defeating the Snorunt while Sei moved to deal with the Zubat. It tried to hold off Ashen from attacking again instead of dealing with Sei, which turned costly as the dragon needed to recharge, while the Lucario was ready and able to strike it again, knocking it out.

The next fight was exactly like the last. A Zubat and Snorunt, both on the same level of strength as the last one, found themselves as Zero's newest targets. Ashen and Sei took care of them in the same fashion as the last, and the Zubat even tried confusing Ashen. After returning Ashen, Zero slowly decided on who to put out next. He settled on Nova, and released the Mega Gardevoir from her ball. After materializing from the white flash, her eyes groggily opened, as if she'd been awoken from a deep sleep. Once her gaze met Zero's, she turned away, still unsure on how to deal with her trainer after the previous night. There was a stifling silence for a few seconds, before it was broken up by a curious sound. Zero blinked for a moment as Nova sneezed, letting out a noise that sounded more like the squeak of a mouse than anything else. I didn't realize pokemon could catch colds... He thought.
"Well we can," Nova responded, her mental probing only going as far as the thoughts on the surface. "Sorry, but can we go somewhere else? This place is way too cold..." Zero was about to respond with a resounding no, but a few more sneezes later, and he finally gave in. Fine, we'll go back to Mt. Pyre then. Do a few battles then head back here. The pokemon are stronger. The Gardevoir nodded, finding that acceptable. He returned his two pokemon and made his way back to the cave entrance, the difference in temperature as he exited immediately apparent.
Hours had passed while he was in there, and it had warmed up since the early morning. A chill remained in the air though, so the coat wasn't going to get uncomfortable anytime soon. However, the moment he got out, his X-Transceiver buzzed vigorously, all the messages he'd received suddenly coming in now that he'd had a signal again. He took a quick glance at it, noticing he had a text from Marx, and four missed calls from Isis. She'd left him a voicemail as well, asking him to call. He grimaced, briefly hesitating on if he should simply ignore it. But he ultimately decided he should at least do something, lest she get anymore worried.

Hitting the send button, he'd texted his short message, then put his phone on silent. Then he released Ashen from his ball once more, and they took off back to Mt. Pyre.

✧✧【Praising Sin and Chardonnay on their find and pocketing another star, Eveline checked the flyer for their next destination from there. The Shoal Cave was about a twenty minute flight as they left the Hoenn mainland behind, trees, hills, and beaches giving way to the vast ocean beyond as the distant islands of Mossdeep, Sootopolis, and Evergrande lay in the distance as dark green silhouettes. Unfortunately, this also meant leaving Team Magma territory and treading more closely into Aqua’s turf, but at least the cave itself was a bit more out of the way as their main hideout was situated a bit more closely to Lilycove. As Jaffa came in for a landing on the beach just outside of the cave entrance, Eveline quickly checked her Rotom phone for the time. The Shoal Cave was a bit of an oddity in that depending on the time of day, it would be either high or low tide inside the caverns. As such, certain areas of the cave were accessible depending on the tide, but from the looks of it they’d arrived in time for it to be high tide right now. Ugh… Unfortunately she didn’t have the necessary means to traverse the waters herself, so this was already quite a troublesome situation they were in.
”Heyo! You a tourist, miss?”piped up the voice of a young man from close by, drawing her attention towards the person who she only just noticed was standing by the cave’s entrance. He was dressed up in the garb of a ranger, though unlike the folks from that school that twirled around their little blue wands to capture Pokemon the rangers around here were mostly just like any other Pokemon trainer. Offering a warm smile he raised a hand to greet her, the Walrein at his side bellowing cheerfully as it lifted up a flipper in an attempt to copy its trainer’s gesture. ”Ah, yes I am, actually,” Eveline answered after a moment, quickly slipping into her disguised normal voice, ”I hadn’t realized it’d be high tide by the time I got here, and I’m admittedly a bit… ill prepared.” The ranger nodded in understanding, gesturing towards the walrus Pokemon.”If you need a Pokemon to help you explore the cave while the water’s high, Bay here’s more than happy to lend a helping hand if you need one.”At hearing his trainer’s proposal the Walrein, Bay, gave a deep voiced yip in agreement, curiously flopping closer towards Eveline and snuffling curiously at her before giving a low melodious bellow and slapping at the sand with his flippers in a sort of odd little dance.”Ah, heh, seems he’s taken a liking to you!”he remarked with a chuckle. Offering her most friendly smile, Eveline reached out and gently ran a hand through the Walrein’s thick white fur. ”Well, aren't you quite the gentleman? ✧✧【It hardly took long for Bay to get situated in the water inside the cave itself, patiently allowing for Eveline to climb on and get herself situated. Lambrusco and Soho chose to opt out of coming along, this wasn’t exactly the best place for them to contribute to the search due to the limited area they could access and all the water they’d have to traverse to get there. With Sin and Chardonnay along for the ride, Eveline held on tight to the Walrein as he swam across the gap to the first cavern entrance leading into the deeper areas. While the redhead and Bay traversed the waters below, the Ankhat ascended closer to the cave ceiling to get a better view of the overall area while the Dragapult chose to dive down into the water to get at the other areas of the cave that had been flooded and inaccessible during high tide.】✧✧

✧✧【From her high up vantage, Chardonnay cast a cursory glance around the general area, scanning about for any sign of the star or anything of relative interest. Unfortunately, there wasn’t really a whole lot to be found in the cave itself apart from just rocks and water, though there were a lot of these little white shells scattered around. Hovering over towards the one she could see closest to her, she experimentally tapped it with a paw, pushing it around a couple times and watching it skitter across the floor with mild interest. Curious little things, though they hardly held her attention for much longer as she rapidly grew bored. With a huff, she smacked the shell away with a bit more force, sending it clattering across the stony floor until it slid over the edge of the ledge and fell into the water with a rather satisfying ‘sploosh’. She did see a couple of passages leading down further into the cave, though from the looks of it Eveline wasn’t able to get to them from where she was. Drifting over towards the centermost hole with a ladder leading down into it, she dove down and vanished into the darkness beyond, perhaps there were some interesting secret areas to be found in this cave.】✧✧

✧✧【Sure enough, to the Ankhat’s surprise and delight, it seemed there was a bit more to this cave than expected. And judging by the lack of water flooding the passageways here the high tide hadn’t reached that far, even though she was a ghost and technically couldn’t even get wet she still wasn’t all that fond of the stuff. Following the winding caverns and bypassing the obstacles in the way, including that enormous boulder that was blocking off a particular area, her eyes widened in almost childlike wonder as she came across a most curious discovery: a room made entirely of ice! How curious that there would be a place like this inside a coastal cave, much less be preserved in a way that it didn’t look like the ice had even melted at all… And as luck would have it, the star itself was down here as well, perched on the high ledge in the center of the room. Sending a signal to Sin and Eveline that she’d taken care of it she quickly snatched it up and turned to make haste back to her trainer, pausing only for a brief moment to take in the sight of the icy room once more before vanishing back the way she’d come.】✧✧
