Vosin was looking forward to the festivities after the wedding, and being able to get out and stretch her dragon's wings. The tiny bronze stood out among his larger cousins, but that didn't stop him from carrying passengers too. She glanced over her shoulder at her youngest brother as he asked his question. The woman pursed her lips as she tried to recall the names.

"You know I don't rightly recall." Names had been brandied about that held no meaning for her. Ves was more likely to remember something like that. She picked out a good spot for Tiaeth to drop them off and held on while he backwinged gracefully to the ground. "Good as ever old boy!" Vos laughed and slapped his shoulder. She undid the safety harness on both passengers then slid down the bronze hide with practiced ease to offer a hand down to the other two.

"Don't be late getting back or we'll leave you," she warned the weyrling who'd hitched a ride with her. Not that Tiaeth couldn't talk to the weyrling dragon and have his rider scampering back, or even to the kid himself which was less likely with those he didn't know as well. Tiaeth of course had no problem speaking to her siblings. With the other out of the way she turned to Esre with a grin.

"Saved ya something." Vosin passed the 1/32 mark over. She hoped it'd cheer him up if he could go buy something he wanted for himself. "Run along and behave yourself." She gave a friendly wink and turned toward the food stalls.

Enjoy Esre and Vos. Tiaeth rumbled then heaved himself up to find a ledge to watch the festivities.

“You people just keep coming out of the furniture” Graegor said, his fingers not leaving Holder Alrah’s shoulder. “Like woodworms. Well. With so many riders here, you can witness this for me - this girl was promised me by her father, before his untimely death. Now no man can have two holds, but I have sons, and a smart girl could do a lot worse then one of my louts. You witness that, and you let the Lord know what you saw today”

Alrah’s mouth was tight, and the girl looked a little white, clearly gathering her resources for a last stand. “I think that’s enough, sir. If - if this is a matter for witnesses, then, please, produce men who’ll swear to this engagement, because I haven’t heard a thing about it before today. Otherwise, I think I shall be going with these riders” She gave A’drey a winning smile, and extended a hand to Til’lene. “I should very much like to meet your dragon”

“This isn’t settled” the Holder pronounced, though he did release Alrah, glancing at A’ri. “Aye, I’ll have that talk with you, rider. Sufia knows, I could do with some good luck”

"B-between your l-late wife and the l-lady's father, there h-has clearly been g-great losses. Y-you h-handle your l-lossess well sir." A'drey managed, diplomatically.

Small wonder he did, when the absence of both meant he could try and lay claim to great swatches of territory. He'd have to see if they could turn up anything, a witness, a scrap of paper, to this supposed agreement, and if any goods had changed hands. He didn't like politics, but if they were going to treat her like goods, there had to be an opening for allowing her out of it or renegotiation. At least, they could ask HER. Surely she'd know. Or the steward might.

He was glad enough to let A'ri stomach Graegor. The Bronzerider rankled him, shaming the poor girl for being afraid, but she struck him as the type who did not know what it actually felt like to be afraid. Easy for her to look down her nose from dragon back and scorn what she didn't understand.

Ah, so the girl did have some fire in her. A'ri smiled at the young woman as she took her leave, sensing ire from A'drey as they parted ways. Mentally, she sighed... though, it was better to ruffle the Weyrfeathers then it was to condone a duel at the Wedding. Perhaps she would speak with A'drey another time to clear the air...

Her dragon rumbled thoughtfully in kind, mentally giving her a hug as he shuffled in his spot, stretching a wing.

Turning her attention back to Graegor as she walked him to a nearby table, she waved a hand in request of drink and took her seat, crossing one leg over the other. "It has certainly been an eventful Wedding, hasn't it? So much beating around the bush so I'll keep this frank and brisk if you don't mind." When the drink arrived, she sipped it before continuing, "Yours is a sea hold, so much of its prosperity depends on the coastal bounty. We're bringing seeds from salt-spray resistant varieties to help bounce back from the weak crop last year, as promised, but I was wondering if you'd considered adapting your fishing techniques? My last fly-over, we spotted some rather large schools of fish about an hour's flight off the coast. My proposal is guiding you to these spots and, depending on what I can swing, perhaps a rider or two to help with the first few catches."

She set her elbows on the table as she watched him, "The dried fish, if they're big enough, should fetch an excellent price at market this year and provide a long-term meat source to fall back on."

Ra'fe had much to say about Graegor's parting comment but diplomatically let it pass. He wonder briefly how Holder Graegor could believe that any of this would be shown in his favor and let it pass. Let him dig his own hole.

He waited till Holder Graegor and A'ri was out of sight and hearing distance before remarking. "You both handled that lout well." He frowned before shaking his head. "Though, I would look through all your late father's papers to see if any of that garbage was true."

Ra'fe paused before recalling his mamners. "I'm Ra'fe, and my dragon is Banneth. If you feel up to seeing him as well, I'm sure he would be pleased to meet you, Holder Alrah."

“My father always honoured the riders in thought and deed, and any of you would be welcome at Lewis” Alrah said graciously. “and I suppose this will teach me to slip off from my guardians to look for presents, needing this rescue. So - that is Ra’fe of Banneth, Til’lene of Pelagalath, and…? I should like to reward you, but I’m not sure what’s appropriate” Her mother would have known, but her mother had died of the same pox that seemed to have carried off half the hold. Alrah had not expected to stand on her own two feet for a while yet - even when she married, she would’ve had her mother-in-law to guide her.

===

“If you can guide my people out to the big shoals, we could do with that” Graegor allowed, the big man resting his elbows on the table, now all business. “But it’s no telling a seaholder his business I’m after, hen. S’the unseasonable storms that wrecked half the fleet last turn, and timber so expensive since the pass started. You riders can run us advance warning of storms and bad weather before it boils up on us, that’s worth more then unseasoned hands that think they can bring a catch in”

His point made, he seemed reasonably willing to be docile and listen to the rider - at least, while she was giving him something he wanted.

Nahau listened first to Syrandir and then to Nash with a look of intense concentration. "Ah... Weeyr, where riders live," a nod, "and Igen, we know." Nahau turned to Syrandir. "Igen's married your sister, yes?" The rest of Nash's words had more or less washed over, too many strange names and strange words to make complete sense of. In any case, at that point Nahau spotted the dragon. The tall blond gave the blue a suspicious look and turned to Syrandir for explanation. At more or less the same moment a green firelizard appeared and swooped down to land on Nahau's shoulders; she too treated the dragon to a suspicious look and flared out her wings to make herself look bigger.

V'den and Suuyeth

Suuyeth practically wiggled his way through the crowd, startling a good many people because one simply did not expect a dragon in a party. By the time he made it to the strangely-dressed people that were his aim, he was positively saturated with attention... if such a thing was even possible for the tiny blue. And he was enjoying every second of it.

V'den, of course, was not. With every startled glance she received in his wake as his obvious companion, her mood soured. It was probably a good thing that she was too focused on keeping up with her dragon to notice C'tis's gesture – it would have worsened her mood. Somehow. I had better have enough time to get myself some wine. she thought to herself dodging around someone to keep her dragon's smooth, oiled hide in view, I am going to need it. If she even had time to drink it with the way Suuyeth moved.

Suuyeth said, chirruping happily as one of the strange humans looked at him. He preened, observing that they were differently colored and bigger than the other humans. Suuyeth wasn't clear on human attractiveness – his rider kept her preferences tightly guarded – he was pretty sure she didn't know them either. But for him, bigger males were handsomer, so he bet that must apply here too. Thus, this human must be stunning for humans. finished for the time being with showing of his beautiful hide, he extended his head to give the man a friendly sniff,

V'den finally caught up to her dragon and allowed herself a moment to take a deep breath and maintain her composure. she said, a little intimidated by his height and strangeness. Suuyeth trying to find her a mate was not new, but really? A strange foreigner? She wanted her wine. And maybe some cake, since she was stuck here.

said Suuyeth, turning to nudge her forward, Despite being sociable, bespeaking other random humans was a little much for Suu to deal with. He shoved her into the forefront.

At that point, V'den had noticed the holder and the situation that seemed to be brewing. It looked as though she was not going to avoid attention, and apparently Suu had led her into some sort of damn conflict.

Wonderful. She was a dragonrider, and thus would have to intervene if things got truly heated...

“Indeed, I noticed.” she said to the man she recognized as a healer from the weyr, recovering quickly from her dragons's nudging.

And that was a holder! And a flitter! And another strangely dressed lady! Ohh, Suuyeth had found the jackpot! He could barely sit still with delight.

V'den gave her dragon a haggard glance before turning to address the now multiple people she had to relay to. “He greets you all.” and, at a hopeful thought from her dragon, sighed. “... And welcomes petting.”

“Oh!” he said, staring at the puppets and trying to imagine what monstrosities they represented. Again, he doubted it, but in the end... did it matter? He enjoyed the story, after all. “But there weren't big monsters here?”

All the while, he was trying not to think about the small 32nd of a mark in his pocket – to spend on whatever he wanted. It was a lot to be trusted with in his mind, but he was growing fast, and yet not fast enough. He would never catch up to all the time he had lost... it was impossible.

“Where are you from?” he asked the puppeteer, taking out the sketchbook he had carried with him.

“Rider,” Syrandir interjected sharply. The blue might have been relatively small, but it was still not cricket. Like his mother, the young man could not be described as overly fond of dragons and dragonriders: they had their uses, not least keeping thread from brining the world down about their ears, but they could not allowed to get above themselves. They were here to serve man, not rule over him. “the middle of my sister’s wedding is not the place to be bringing your creature into the midst of. Kindly instruct them to withdraw”

Morehu, who had moved forward with a hand extended towards the blue dragon, paused and looked over at Syrandir; following the complexities of conversation was hard but the Holder's words had been clear, as had his tone. "Perhaps," Morehu said carefully, lowering the hand and turning to face Syrandir properly, "I could... withdraw with him, and with you rider?" A nod to V'den. "We would be glad to...." There was a thoughtful pause, a brief silent moving of lips. "Glad to learn more of your creatures. Dragon, yes?"

Nash smiled at V'den and with the knowledge that if he stayed, he was going to land in deep s**t, decided to join them. "I'll come with you. I still have to find the rider that brought me here and see when he has plans to leave. " Escape, he was seeing an escape route and he was going to take it.

Nersha nodded, tucking the note away and offering the handkerchief back to Sarai. "Wine sounds like a grand idea." It was a party after all, nobody could fault her a drink. They could get cake if the other rider so wished, but personally Nersha was still full from the meal earlier and to eat anymore now felt like a waste.

Looking around for a vendor Nersha began walking. At least she had Sarai's company to distract her from buying things she didn't need. Wine excluded of course. Her search for a vendor led to straying near another familiar face, though not one she could claim a large history with. Raising her hand in a small wave the rider decided against just walking up to the youth. Biran appeared to be on rather official business. She was certain that was the foreign woman with him. No doubt he had duties to be doing to his hold, showing the newcomers about, getting on good terms with them. It'd be good to speak with him when he was less busy, see how life was treating him. Check he'd not managed to get lost again.
