As Esmee broke into monologue, a very fine speech if Luminita had ever heard of one, her arms came to cross among each other and her head nodded as appropriate. It might have seemed that she was taking mental notes of it all; perhaps she was? Most likely not. She could listen to an intriguing set of words without trying to remember it all though, at least if it would not come back into the conversation, right?
Surely you could, else all would carry around notepads.
Maybe their notepads were in their minds. Just there but invisible.
Oh wait, that's right; it's called memory.
The shopkeeper nearly trembled as she opened her mouth to continue to provoke the conversation. Poor guy. "So he's toxic, and that makes him make others sick, right? How did you give birth to and care for a poisonous infant?" She had a just greater than basic understanding of anatomy and how such a thing happened. "Or... What made him that way?" Perhaps it might make more sense to treat the problem rather than cover it up?

"Yup!" confirmed Esmée, as if confirming her son was toxic was as easy as breathing. She had clearly been dealing with this for a while ... or she was just taking a very strange view to it, all things considered. Maybe both. Giving birth to a poisonous infant? Oh, that sounded quite terrible. Would she have poisoned herself in the process? She might have died! If she had, who would ever find out how to get the cure for this? Who would advance the scientific community of Telrunya City? Who would take care of her penguin Fernand?! No, no, that couldn't be. The truth was, something made him that way, and she was perfectly willing to explain this. It was possible that a single tear fell down the shopkeep's cheek. "Ah, good question! See, all of my children were blessed with wonderful powers from the Guardians. One of my sons, he can absorb poisons. Another, he can turn plants into rubber." Esmée nodded, like this was very important. "Lisandru was given an inland taipan companion. From what I have come to understand, this is a very toxic snake. It seemed that the toxins extended to him as well, unfortunately, and he now secretes them through his skin!"

Oh! It was a blessing from the Guardians! Certainly that made more sense; of course it made more sense. How silly she was for considering that her new dear friend Esmee here might have had to endure the extraction and rearing of a poisonous dependent. "Can his brother absorb the toxins?"
This was probably another silly question, but Luminita didn't care.
She shopkeeper on the other hand, left helplessly watching more and more of his potential sales pass him on with but a sideways look of confusion, did, in fact care.
Before Esmee could answer, Luminita shook her head. "That would probably remain an only temporary solution, though... Not very useful at all..." So that left them with their Plan B, the silver salt thing.
Wait a sec... Silver...?
Silver!
Right! They should go find some silver! Where might the two... Oh, they were right here at the silver store; she'd nearly forgotten about their reason for being here with the delightful conversation they were having and all. Motioning to her side, she added, "Guess you should buy your silver then?" For science.

Of course! Alister could absorb the toxins! She had seen the eldest brother do that before, with his own powers, but of course, it only scratched the surface! It took some of the toxins off, but it was only so temporary, and then they replenished themselves naturally. It was really quite unfortunate the two brothers could not cancel themselves out... It seemed Luminița came to the same conclusion as Esmée knew, and she grinned at this. "Exactly!" Good. This other woman understood without an explanation. "Alister can help, I suppose, but it is only so temporary. There is no permanent solution to muting this effect, yet, when it is necessary for Lisandru to--" Luminița was talking again, and Esmée quickly shut her mouth. Wait. "Oh, right!" Silver. Swirling around to the mournful shopkeep, Esmée strut forward, reaching into her bag and fishing out a whole slew of things to trade with. Bottles filled with strange liquids, small pieces of metals or other strange compounds, and a few sheets of paper with some things scrawled on them ... that she quickly shoved back into her bag. This was clearly not a thing she wanted to trade. "I would like some silver." She tapped her chin. "Specifically, I would like two of those bars, if possible." The shopkeeper almost didn't care what he was being handed. These two were taking away business, likely, and the longer they were in here, the more he saw his business just slipping away, lost to the wind forever... "That, is that metal platinum?" Esmée blinked, looking at what she laid out. "I suppose it is. Will that do?" The shopkeeper took the light silvery metal off the counter, along with a few other things, and gave Esmée what she was asking for.

Nod, nod. It was rather reassuring for her own opinion to be so quickly and so thoroughly backed up immediately after she came to have it, and by someone as much an intellect as Esmée here. It was one of Luminița's prouder moments.
In this moment at least, but this moment was all that mattered for the moment anyways.
Hmm... Watching the two 'barter,' though it was rather one-sided to call it even that, the angel's thoughts began to wander. How did one turn silver into salt anyways? Probably some scientific magic or something. Except science wasn't magic, right? Or was it?
Could they be the same thing in different ways?
Woah. Hold out there Luminita! Getting too out there, and to her delight, her new friend was finishing up her order. Walking closer, she peered at the shining, expensive bars before looking up to Esmee's bright, yellow eyes. "Have you everything you needed?"

Esmée Luminița She had the silver! Victory! Esmée shoved the other items the shopkeep didn't take back into her bag with a victorious whoop, before lifting the silver bars off the counter to present to her newfound buddy and her penguin familiar. This was perfect! Now that she had the silver, she could make some silver salts with some heat and some elemental reactions, yes? Exactly! "Yes! This is perfect. Thanks for directing me over here, Luminița! Now I can execute my experiments and have some silver left over for future ones, I am quite certain of that." Happily, Esmée stuck the bars in her bag on top of everything else, being very careful not to smash any vials in the process. Perhaps she should get some pockets on her bag. Pockets worked well in coats she used in the lab. Certainly, they would be useful on a bag. Fernand waddled over to Esmée, leaning over her bag to peer into it for a moment to make sure she hadn't accidentally bartered something important. He nodded, approving, before backing away. Esmée glanced up, nudged out of her thoughts of bag-experiments by Fernand poking his head in. "Now, where to?"

As Esmee returned, Luminita grinned and gave her one hell of a thumbs up. Yes! Somehow they had found and gotten silver. One could practically feel a narrative play of music and a floating text describing [Congratulations. You have successfully acquired silver] appearing just in their foreground.
Ferdinand was still such a cute little penguin-bird; oh how the angel would have loved to just walk over and give him another bi-i-i-i-ig hug and a few pets on the head, but she'd already done that once today.
The petting, not the hug.
Maybe next time.
As for where they were meant to go now, Luminita hadn't a clue. I mean, it wasn't as if she had anything she was meant to-- Wait a sec. Eyes widening, she reached into her side-bag and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper with some writing on it: what she was actually supposed to do at the market.
Tightening her grip on it, she looked to her new friend and tried to express her gratitude. "I am so-so-so very sorry! I'm actually supposed to be off getting some things!" Looking up, she gave a smile. "Let me give you my address! We have to meet up again sometime soon; you better tell me how the experiment goes." Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a (crumpled) notepad and pen before scribbling some things on the page and ripping it out to hand it to here. "Here you go!"

"Oh my! I am so very sorry! I did not intend to hold you back from your own intriguing experiments!" Esmée grinned at Fernand, briefly, to show that see, she could be considerate, it was quite obvious that she was not a failure at communication and everything in-between. She had social smarts, dammit! Fernand lifted a flipper and placed it against his forehead again. "Esmée, just take her address." Perhaps his bonded might have a friend other than her sons and her sister, now. "Ah, yes! Addresses!" Happily, Esmée took the small paper from Luminița, tucking it into her bag. Her bag really needed pockets. Perhaps she would try to add some. Then she could call it a pocketbag! No, that was a dumb name. Perhaps she could call it the bag of epic pocket holding. Hmm, that was a bit of a mouthful, wasn't it? Wait a minute, she was trying to do something wasn't she? Aha! In turn, Luminița would find a piece of rectangular paper shoved into her hands. "Mine! Okay well, I'll leave you to it! I have some tests to run! Fernand?" Esmée trotted off quite quickly, leaving Fernand to give a quick wave at her newfound friend before waddling off after her.

Luminita brushed off her friends concerns as she spoke them with a quick gesture of her hand. "Don't be; I had a lot of fun today! Really!" Probably some of the more fun she'd had with another in quite a while. Honestly, she was more upset that she had something that had to be done moreso than she was that she'd been from getting distracted from doing it in the first place.
Did that make sense? Kind... of... No not really. Close enough.
"Oh! Thanks a bunch!" She had gotten her address too! Oh this was super exciting; usually these interactions ended up being a tad one-sided. "I'll make sue to contact you soon!" Grinning, she waved to her new friend as she briskly turned and made her ways off, then to Fernand before he left. Waiting a few moments, she put the paper into her back and brought her hands to her lips, cupping them around them, before calling out. "BYE ESMEE!"
At that, she turned on her heel, giddily oblivious to the number of irritated/confused/concerned pae that stared quite frankly to her and soon was off running in the direction that she was meant to go anywhere.
Perhaps with just a newly noticeable skip to her step.
